The Gradle Terminal (also called Gradle Command Line) is not showing in my android studio, I have Android Studio version 1.3.1 and I have been searching for how to view the terminal for over an hour now and all I get are tutorials about how to use it and not how to show it so that I can eventually use it.
Anybody got a solution for this? Thanks in advance.
Not sure if there is such thing in Android Studio.
There is Gradle console and Terminal for sure.
Anyways, there is Find Action... command and you can use it to find "all" kind of things in Android Studio.
Just go to the Help menu and you will find it there. Here it's second menu option right after Search. Use this option to search for commands/features in Android Studio, like on the following image:
As you can see there is Gradle Console available and if you search for the terminal you will find Terminal option as well. But no Gradle Terminal or Gradle Command Line ;-)
check View - > Tool Windows - > Terminal in android studio
Although I did not find any solution to open the Gradle Terminal in Android Studio 1.3.1, I found an alternative way that lets me execute Gradle tasks outside the terminal. Go to Gradle console -> Gradle icon that says Execute Gradle task -> a pop-up opens -> attach your project -> write the task in the second field -> ok.
Happy Coding :)
Click "View" option top on the Android studio then click "Tool Windows" after "Gradle"; that's it.
View--->Tool Windows---->Gradle.
If you are looking for the gradle build output, you need to activate the "Build" Tool window.
Click View->Tool Windows->Build
click search on right side of ide - > type gradle - > gradle window will be opened
Very simple

I am trying to access my project's SHA certificate fingerprint, but the steps to take from Stack Overflow do not work. Specifically, there is no Gradle tab on the right when I go to gradle.properties. There is no option for displaying it in View->Tool Windows. There is no pop up text that shows up when I select gradle.properties for opening this. There do not appear to be updated instructions for how to access Gradle tab on the right of Android Studio.
The other option I found is to get it manually, but is that the only way to do it nowadays?
I can only speak for Linux, but this might as well work on a Mac.
Click tab "Terminal" and then run:
cd android
chmod +x ./gradlew
./gradlew app:signingReport
Open the Gradle Tab from here:
View -> Tool Windows -> Build.
Here you go!
OR IF THIS DOESN'T WORKS:
Seems you're working on a Flutter Project
You can right-click on project- or android-folder, select Flutter->'Open Android module in Android Studio'
Refer this Image
After that the gradle-tab appears on the right and you can use it as intended.
I had a project on Android Studio which was working. But after I ran
git pull and then git reset --hard and tried to run it again, build failed with the message:
File 'com.android.builder.files.ZipCentralDirectory#412e039a' was deleted, but previous version not found in cache
Build -> Clean Project fixed my problem.
Go to Task Manager
Search for any instances of OpenJDK or java in task manager click and End Task
Run flutter clean in IDE
The Reason was Flutter Clean cant delete the build while the Application is still running in the Background process, u have to close it and run.
I also faced the same issue. it occurs when you run> flutter clean command that actually did't clean all the files inside build directory of your project, and causes the issue.
So the simple solution is, delete your build directory manually. If it alerts "File in Use" dialogue then simple do the following steps
open the run command with shortcut Window+R
type resmon.exe it will open the resource monitor
click on "CPU" tab
click on "Associated handles" and type build in search bar
right click on java.exe and end process
restart your IDEA and run your project the problem is solved
An alternative way to fix this issue is to run flutter clean.
You mentioned you are using android studio, go to your terminal inside android studio and then run the above mentioned command.
After the above command was executed then run your app again.
This simple solution worked for me !
Using Android Studio 3.6.2 for a Flutter project there is no 'Build -> Clean' unless you 'Open Android module in Android studio'. Then there is a 'Build -> Clean Project'.
An alternative as mentioned above is to open the terminal in the project where you may Debug your application and run 'flutter clean'.
For me the latter is better since I typically only open the Flutter android module when I want to build a release of my app.
Open Android module in Android studio
run success
execute ‘Build -> Clean’
close Android module in Android studio
run flutter project again
I have updated my android studio to new stable version 3.1.
After build project not able to run.
Let me know if anyone have face same issue or find any solution.
Just go to "Run/edit configurations.../" and scroll down to bottom of the window and here you see an option "Before launch..."
First, remove whatever already inside the little window and then click on (+) icon and select "Gradle-aware Make" and then type "assembleDebug" and select the first option or that you need. This will solve your problem.
Try deleting both your build folders in your project manually and rebuild. This usually happens when you update gradle version, in my experience.
The solution that worked for me was a combination of other answers here.
I had upgraded to the most recent stable version of Android Studio at the time, 3.1. Along with that, Android Studio prompted a dialog asking me if I wanted to upgrade my Gradle from 3.x to 4.4, and I accepted as well.
After that I got the error of this question, and then I did this:
Open menu Run -> Edit configurations...
In the Before launch: section, select any options you have listed (each option has the Android symbol), and remove them with the - symbol
Add the option Gradle-aware Make, with the value assembleDebug
Clean and rebuild your whole project
just clean and rebuild your project
I had the same problem. I change in build.gradle 'compile' with 'implementation', then clean and rebuild the project. Now it starts with no problem.
Run "Build-> Clean Project" normally will fix this problem.
I recently updated the Android Studio to 1.5.1, and I am not able to find Terminal Pane any where. I Searched in Views, I searched in Search panel, but it is no where to be found. Any idea?
The Terminal was disabled in plugins, I went to settings->plugins and checked Terminal and restarted studio, it worked.
View -> Tool Windows -> Terminal
You can also just press ALT+F12
Hope it help
I'm completely new to android studio. Installed it plus all the skd packages the installation guide told me to. I've been trying a couple of things for the past two weeks now with no success. Can someone direct me to a solution or where more detailed error messages are found?
Im receiving this error message from the "Messages Gradle Sync" Panel:
"Error:(1, 0) Cause: com.google.common.collect.Sets"
edit : I have ubuntu installed on this computer aswell and I decided to install android studio on it. Its woking there so I guess I'll work from it until studio gets a fix or I find one.
Uncheck "Offline work" in File>Settings>Gradle>Global Gradle Settings
Resync the project, for example by restarting the Android Studio.
Once synced, you can check the option again to work offline
Update java if Android L SDK installed
-File -> Invalidate caches / Restart
-Shutdown Android Studio
-Rename/remove .gradle folder in the user home directory
-Restart Android Studio let it download all the Gradle stuff it needs
-Gradle build success !
Open your project where its located
For example:
MyApplication->gradle->wrapper->gradle-wrapper.properties
go into it and change this row:
distributionUrl=http\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-1.12-all.zip
with this:
distributionUrl=http\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-1.10-all.zip
and try to sync with this button in your IDE
At https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=71725 I found this answer by (#3 alinmit...#gmail.com) and it solved that problem for me.
In Android Studio go to File>Settings>Gradle>Global Gradle Settings and in Gradle VM options specify the proxy details:
-Dhttp.proxyHost=dummyHost -Dhttp.proxyPort=dummyPort -Dhttp.proxyUser=dummyUser -Dhttp.proxyPassword=dummyPassword
I have Avast antivirus, i closed it and then the problem disappeared! try to disable your firewall and let us know! :-)
