I'm doing a project and need some advise on whether it is possible to edit a pdf file in Android Studio.
In the project I'm required to create a template in any text editor (pdf preferably), then edit the template by inserting user information, such as name, address etc..
is it possible? If so, please provide some direction.
any alternatives? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I would Google java open source pdf writers. I did this stuff years ago in Java j2ee, can bring in required libraries and do it in android. I don't have a recommended one.
Android studio is for writing android code, not modifying PDFs. Wouldn't make sense to have such a feature in Android Studio.
You should look for alternative tools to handle this condition.

is it possible to create an Android 1.5.1 app using Android Studio?
Yes it is old but still used...
It only has to read 3 different txt files which are located on local network, containing 1 line of text each and display it under each other in portrait view.
Refresh ones a minute should be ok.
And it has to have a dropdown menu so you can choose which number of device it is, so from 1-10 is ok and according that read the txt files which belongs to that device nr.
I can't use a webpage because i cannot create a local server for it. So i need a little app.
To create the txt files i use a windows program.
I use Livecode (since short) but it can't create apps below Android froyo 2.2.
Any help on this would be highly appreciated. As i don't know anything about java.
It's only for local use, nothing commercial or anything
Thanks for any help on this!
You should try using PhoneGap (Cordova) http://phonegap.com which is basically a HTML-Webview, wrapped up in an App, so you can code the whole thing using JavaScript, and it is still a real app.
With this it should be very easy to do that, even if you "don't speak Java".
But to answer your initial question, yes it should be possible to create an Android App for 1.5.1 with Android Studio. You just need to install the right SDK/Packages etc with the SDK Manager.
Have fun coding.
I want to use Infragistics controls in my android application which i am creating in Eclipse IDE. But i cannot find a way to integrate these controls with eclipse. I have downloaded the file named NetAdvantage from

But I cannot find a way to use it in my project. When I try to install it, it installs it for Visual Studio. Can anybody please tell me some way as my application is in java not in C# or VB.NET
I assume that you are referring to the IGUANA UI toolset? In this case I suggest choosing the "Iguana UI 2012 Complete Bundle" download option on the IG Website.
IGUANA UI actually does not require installation - the toolset as well as the documentation and product samples (including sample source code) are all available in the downloaded zip.
Please let me know if this helps.

Start by doing the Getting Started tutorial of PhoneGap on whatever OS you want to work.
http://phonegap.com/start
You should get your Hello World pretty easily
And if you want to go further you can do that great Sencha Touch tutorial :
http://www.sencha.com/learn/a-sencha-touch-mvc-application-with-phonegap/
Hope it helps
I would suggest you to use Apatna studio for the Sencha client development. It helps to build web applications quickly and easily and it is one of the Eclipse based powerful web development engine.
http://aptana.com/
Find Aptana Studio 3 Release Updates site: http://download.aptana.com/studio3-rcp/plugin/update/
Another alternative is Spket plugin for eclipse for Javascript. Spket Update site: http://www.spket.com/update/
Once your are done with the client development, you can follow the below link to build the different version of mobile application builds using phone-gap. Visit here for Phonegap developers reference link

Did you ever search in the internet for a manual? There are a lot of hints. Recently someone wrote a small tutorial.
Even it is for Ubuntu, but I think it gives you a clue how to proceed.
If not, your operating system is needed.
I tried compiling the tesseract-android-tools (tat) with Windows and Cygwin and failed. Some other succeeded. Then after I compiled the tat with the MAC OS and Terminal and succeeded, by using the NDK 5b.
So first have a closer look in the internet and then specify your question, so appropriate help can be posted.
Best wishes,
Volker
I recently used tess-two, which is a fork of tesseract android tools. Step-by-step tutorial on how to setup your development environment, and how to use the library with android, is provided at the readme section here - https://github.com/gorjanz/com-vodi-smetka.android

As advised by the moderator, I am posting what did to import zxing into my android app, on this post. Seems like many people refer to this post to get an answer for zxing.
The zxing guys have made it easier to create a android project with 1.7. Its not as painful as it used to be. This is a quick blog for anyone who would like to create a zxing project for android quickly.
Checkout the zxing sources from zxing.org
Create a Android project on your eclipse
Delete main.xml
Right click on “src” directory and hit import. Browse to the following directories in the order mentioned. As you add them for
import one by one, ensure that you have the src directory in the edit
field of the import wizard. And that you select only the “com”
directory on the left directory tree. Do not select src.

Ensure that your android sdk version is 9, anything lesser and androidmanifest.xml will cry.
Strings.xml in one of the languages will crib, just put a / before the ‘ character
