I have an activity that contains one ViewPager (nothing else). The fragments I use are extremely simple. They consist of a flat background with two buttons (back and forward).
When the ViewPager scrolls with user input it works smoothly. However, when I program the buttons to use setCurrentItem to the next page the animation is really choppy.
The "choppyness" is only the first time the animation executes. After that, if I go back and forth using the buttons the animation is smooth.
Because of this behavior, I imagine that it has something to do with the way that PageViewer anticipates user behavior. If anyone can shed some light on this matter that would be of great help. Thanks!
I read about similar issues with PageViewer animations being choppy (all of them more than 3 years old). I tried their suggestions and could not get it to work; so I decided to create a new question.

I am doing a sample project as an excercise and want to display two fragments in the same activity when dealing with tablets(7' and 10').

1) How to display by default in the right fragment the data of the first row of recyclerview?(ie image and article)
2) How to implement the click listener and update the right fragment?

First let me answer the second question. To show a fragment on the right side of the screen add something like this (note how I'm using that id of the frame layout to replace the fragment):

Notice that I'm using the tag of the view to identify the position (so somwhere in your onBindViewHolder code you must set this tag).

Objective: I have one activity and within two fragments. The ideia is to communicate both fragments, selecting one category and updating its item list.On activity load, a category is settle by default.
Problem: On activity load, ItemsFragment doesn't display/update itemsLisView. Also ItemAdapter's getView Method is being called only twice, even though the list has five items.
Facts:
Items List is being correctly fulfilled before being passed to adapter
Breakpointing the code, not sure why or if it matters, ItemsFragment is being rendered/called before CategoriesFragments. I found this weird since CategoriesFragments is positioned above ItemsFragment. This is the reason why I wrote if (getArguments() != null). Before I was getting Null Pointer Exception.

Those are some link examples (of thousands) I went through, trying to find a solution for my case. Unfortunately none of them worked.
I've been with this problem for almost 5 days now and I guess I missing some Android concept here. It's not something related with Java Programming, or at least I hope so.
Questions:
Why ItemsFragment is not displaying Items List on activity load? (This probably answers updating problem)
Why ItemAdapter just calls getView only twice, even that Items List is correctly given to him with more items?

Now, if you want to add items to the adapter, I generally recommend you just use an ArrayAdapter<String>. This will provide you an add(String object) method that will both add to the underlying list and notify for updates.
Regarding the getView problems, can't really say. I don't really know why you need ItemAdapter since the default ArrayAdapter<String> will work assuming you pass it a layout with android:id="#android:id/text1, for example using android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1 in place of R.layout.content_row_choose_item

The given MCVE was working fine. After 7 days debugging and uncommenting code I found the answer to my problem.
My list was correctly being updated, but wasn't being rendered because of a second ItemsFragemnt being initialized on Lists Activity load. This second fragment was overlaying the first one and that's why I wasn't seing my list being displayed/refreshed.
Lists:

I tried to breakpoint my code, mentioned before in Facts at question scope, but sometimes this is really painful. I came with the idea to use Log.d(TAG_KEY, TAG_NAME); and that was when I found out the answer: I realized that ItemsFragment was being called twice on Activity load.
I searched for new ItemsFragment in my project and saw that inside my NewItemPagerFragment onCreate, ItemsFragment was being called. Also before CategoriesFragment- just like this:

which explains Facts 2.. After commenting/remove this call on NewItemPagerFragment the problem was gone.
Bottom line is: Make sure your list is correctly being fulfilled/updated with things like notifyDataSetChanged as cricket_007 mentioned in his answer and other thousand posts I read on internet. Not less, make sure you are not overlaying the fragment calling its initialization twice.

I've been facing a weird behavior using the combination of both PageTransformer and TransitionManager.
The hierarchy I'm using is fairly easy : A viewPager with each page being a fragment. The fragment has two different layouts, changing with the TransitionManager.go().
The issue :
If I just scroll through the viewPager, everything is fine, and my pageTransformer applies the right values, creating the desired parallax effect.
If I just click back and forth to change scenes inside a page, I also get the desired output.
However, whenever I use the TransitionManager.go() (let's say twice, to go back to the first layout) and then start scrolling through my viewPager, the parallax effect doesn't occur anymore.
My question :
Is there any known issue I haven't been able to find with using both a PageTransformer and a TransitionManager at the same time?

Lastly, here's a gif showing what happens. As you can see, at the beginning "Item 1" has the parallax effect. After switching scenes back and forth, the PageTransformer won't apply anymore.

I will answer my own question in case anyone would bump into the same issue as I did.
The problem came from the rootLayout I was using in the fragment not being "the right one", therefore the TransitionManager was adding an extra layer when going back to the first scene.
Here's what I changed :

there are to many threads talking about this but i tried everything and doens't seem to work. My Problem is kinda simple i have a viewpager with 5 fragments pages.
Each of this fragment has the same layout only 1 edit text, and the issue is if i write something on the editext onswipe to next or the previous page i would like to reset that edittext.
For example:

But it always shows the 2929.

also, tv.setOffscreenPageLimit(limit);, tried FragmentStatePagerAdapter and FragmentPagerAdapter, i have state because it destroys the fragment, using events onDetach(), onDestroy() etc etc, if you saw the code of the fragment you can see my method onDetach(), notifydatasetchanged, setting new adapter.
well i figured it out.
Well as we "all" know viewpager creates 3 pages, and this pages will be set at NOT VISIBLE and VISIBLE. I googled around and found this:

Well when i swipe and swipe back my values will be reseted, the "if" is because the view maybe its not created yet, this method is called before the onCreate() method. But it works, i don't know if you guys agree or have a better solution for this. I hope it will help someone.
