I am trying to get a video stream running from Google Glass. I already tried spydroid, but for some reason it is not giving any video output.
Now I am trying to import GlassStream into eclipse, but all of the package declarations and imports are broken(i did follow the given instructions):
The declared package net.majorkernelpanic.streaming.video does not match the expected package src.net.majorkernelpanic.streaming.video
If I fix all of those manually, then I get that R class is not found.
It is the first time I am dealing with Google Glass, and I don't know what the issue here is, the spydroid v10 project imported flawlessly.

Fixed. I had to pull out all of the sub-folders, set the project source folders, and put everything where it belongs.

I have downloaded the CustomView.zip from developer android page.
I've tried to import this into Android Studio 2.2.0.12. But I am NOT able to do it.
I have also tried to create a empty project in order to import only the sources and XML. It does´t work either, I get a lot of duplicates XML definitions and even after resolving the duplicates the App crashes with some inflate exception.
So, i´m wondering, How can I import this into Android Studio in order to have a working project and run it to see the behavior and also to debug it
Thanks in advance.
Looking at the sample file, stupidly, it doesnt include any of the standard android framework files (gradle, manifest etc), so Android Studio will not be able to automatically import it.
To get round this you should create a new blank project, leave the mainactivity that is generated.
Then go in to the file structure of the new project and copy in the files from the sample in to the corresponding files. Make sure you overwrite the files in the new project.
Then go in to the code base in Android Studio and delete any imports that cant be found due to incorrect package names. Re import these (alt + enter on mac) with the correct package names and then build and you should be good to go.
I'm doing my best to figure out how to develop apps in Eclipse for Android Wear (I really don't like Android Studio). I have made a couple of apps so far for Android Wear in Eclipse that work perfectly fine, but I'm running into a big problem when trying to create a Watch Face.
I can't import the following:
import android.support.v7.graphics.Palette;
import android.support.wearable.watchface.CanvasWatchFaceService;
import android.support.wearable.watchface.WatchFaceService;
import android.support.wearable.watchface.WatchFaceStyle;
I have added the wearable-1.0.0.aar as a library as discussed here. I have tried adding as an external jar the "android-support-v7-appcomapt.jar" file located at "...sdk\extras\android\support\v7\appcompat\libs", but still no luck.
I am using the "Watchface" example given by google. When using it in Android Studio it works perfectly fine. The exact error I'm getting is:
CanvasWatchFaceService cannot be resolved to a type
Also, in my project under Android Private Libraries I have "classes.jar" and "android-support-v4.jar".
Does anyone have a fix? I figure it has something to do with external libraries and/or a jar I've missed.
Managed to figure it out. For anyone else who comes across this thread, the answer lies in the wearable-1.0.0 library in that it does not contain CanvasWatchFaceService. After looking through some of the other wearable projects, I found that the later versions have it. Just go to ...sdk\extras\google\m2repository\com\google\android\support\wearable. I chose the wearable-1.4.0 version.
Also, I added the external jar "android-support-v7-palette.jar" from the Android tools folder.
Now everything works perfectly for me.
I am building an Android app that I want to open google maps with the click of a button. I want the app to find the current location of the user and give them directions to a predefined address. I started building the application before I realized there were special steps that you have to take to include this functionality. To add this feature to my project I followed the directions on these two sites:
https://developer.android.com/google/play-services/setup.html
https://developer.android.com/tools/projects/projects-eclipse.html#ReferencingLibraryProject
The problem is on the second site, when i added the library to my already existing project it caused all of my code that has findViewById(R.id.whatever) or setContentView(R.layout.whatever) to become errors. It is now telling me that i need to import the class R. If I do that it then gives me error messages on the names of all my xml files.
For example in my MainActivity it is telling me that i should change setContentView(R.layout.activity_main) to setContentView(R.layout.activity_list_item) and does this for all references to my xml files for the entire project.
I tried going back and removing the google play services library from the project and starting over but when I removed it the errors still persists. I also tried using the "fix project setup" option in Eclipse but it didn't fix the problem.
I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced this problem before? If so, how can I fix it? The application had no errors before I tried to include the google play services library. I am new to Android development so a lot of the information I have found has been either confusing to understand or doesn't seem to include enough details for me to figure it out. Thanks for your help!
Look at your imports, and check if you are importing the correct R.java from your application package, not from the android package.
Check also if your XMLs don't contain errors, otherwise R.java won't be generated.
In my case android-maps-library had to errors in two files (I have forgotten their names), I edited the two files removing errors my self. And finally I was able to used it quite nice.
i think you have correct yout Project build target, and this how:
right click on your project folder in the package explorer->propreties->Android
then porject build target and choose you Android target (Android x.xx)
but before that you need to remove import android.R;
I'm trying to work on extending BasicDream which exists in package: android.support.v13.dreams. I have tried downloading all most all android version (just trying luck to get it working) but I'm unable to import it. i.e. On
import android.support.v13.dreams.BasicDream; statement I'm getting an error:
The import xxxxxx... cannot be resolved.
I tried copying my sdk/extras/libs/../android-support-v13.jar in my libs folder and added to build path but found this package does not show dreams. While typing import statement I'm able to see v13 i.e. I can write import android.support.v13.app.*; but it does not have dreams/basicdream.
Tried google and do found the source code of this class but no idea why my jar file does not have these classes or how to use it. Please suggest what am I missing here.
Update: Finally I figured out that BasicDream was part of Android Support Library version 13 Link: BasicDream source codeshipped with android 4.1.2 however latest Android Support Library version 13 does not have Basic Dream.support library v13 class list
As I'm working on some native functionality, I downloaded BasicDream source code from the link mentioned above and included in same folder where I have my other source files. Updated the package to my application package
In your case probably the best way to get it is to check code of this class on GrepCode and manually resolve (copy) all dependencies. Good luck!
My friend created an android application using phonegap, jquery and facebook sdk in eclipse. I wanted to run the application in my computer. So I imported the whole project into eclipse. I downloaded all the necessary APIs. Initially I got a lot of errors, but I solved most of them.
Now I am stuck with just one error. And it is in the src/com.facebook.android./FbDialog.java file. One particular line
Drawable crossDrawable = getContext().getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.close);
gives the error R cannot be resolved to a variable.
I have gone through a lot of similar questions on this website as well as other websites. I have cleaned the project innumerable times. The R.java file builds successfully. Also, my friend is not getting any error when he runs the same project in his laptop. So I don't think there is any problem with the coding part.
I am definitely missing some important setting or download. Please help. This one error is giving me a lot of headaches.
I am a new user her so cant upload a screenshot.
1st. res/drawable folders (ldpi, mdpi, hdpi) must contain an image named close, if not add it. I doesn't really mater, in order to overcome the error, in which of them the file exist.
But in order to use resourses properly see the Android documentation here
2nd. File FbDialog.java must have an import of the R.java sometimes the R imports get mixed with clean & built and instead of import your.package.com.R; it is included the import android.R;
Depending on the dependency libraries or related projects of main project the close file resource may be a part of an other library in that case you will need import that.package.com.R;. So if it is part of Facebook SDK then you will need import com.facebook.android.R;
I hope you get the logic of how R imports work.
Update: Lets force it to work, change line to:
Drawable crossDrawable = getContext().getResources().getDrawable(your.package.com.R.drawable.close);
