Can't find the option in Android Studio to switch between workspaces like in Eclipse.
Is there only way to add path when creating Project? Or any other way?
you can open a separate window that how it goes in android studio since this is based on IntelliJ IDE,
click on
File-->open-->open and select the project, this will ask you in a window saying do you want to open in new window or same click on new window.
Before start exploring Android Studio please read Project and File Structure
You can try with -> Press Cntrl+Shift+F Then change Directory Location .
Change default save location of projects (or Workspace ) in Android Studio
Just follow this steps given below, because the Android Studio doesn’t work quite like Eclipse does. It's simpler: if you create a project at, say /home/USER/Projects/AndroidStudio/MyApplication from there on all new projects will default to /home/USER/Projects/AndroidStudio. So, your current directory will be your current workspace.
1- Open new project
2- Change project location name by typing and not browse button
3- Next button will appear now
And if you want to change current then rename current directory and reopen that project.

I started learning App development in Android Studio, using the Flutter UI toolkit. Everything seems fine, however when i want to create a New Image Asset to edit my app's icon, i can't find it. When i right-click the android/app/src/main/res folder, it does not appear within New. I am following some older tutorials and they all have that option there.
This is what comes up:
My version of Android Studio is:
And my version of Flutter is: 2.8.1 (Dart 2.15.1)
How can i fix this, or are there any alternatives for modifying my app's icon?
Does it work for you? If that doesn't work, try right-clicking the drawable folder and selecting "New" -> "Image Asset".
Try to do the following:
Right click on res directory -> Choose Mark Directory as -> Resources root
If it is not working, try to change file view to Android:
I got it to come up when I right click on the root node of the project (a flutter project) and selected flutter -> Open Android module in Android Studio
Then I was able to right click the res folder and clicked on new -> Image Asset
Ah, I've seen this before as you're using Flutter. Despite all the answers, I'd recommend you to right-click the android/ folder from your Flutter app root and select Mark as... > Project Root, then close and reopen the project in Android Studio.
If Android finally recognizes this as an Android project, it will take a long, long time to download some of the project's dependencies (in which some of them are already downloaded through flutter pub get and flutter run/build. After it's ready, the project files will be finally available for you, including the option to launch the Image Asset Studio.
Update To Latest Version Frist.

#Android_Studio
For Flutter users: If you created the Android project via flutter create, make sure to open the Android Studio project in the android subfolder, not the one in the root folder. Then, Android Studio should automatically run gradle. Once this has finished (which can take quite some time on the first run), the Android Studio UI should automatically switch to the "Android View", and the "New > Image Asset" option should become available for the res folder. No need to manually mark anything.
Just make sure that gradle runs through, otherwise the real "Android View" won't be available, even if it is selected.
I have faced same issue and this suggestion really helped me. Hope this will help you too.

To me the key point is this:
"don't open the whole project of flutter using Android studio just open the android folder found inside the flutter project with Android studio, so the Android studio can treat it as a Android project rather than flutter project, which will give you all Android features like the one ur looking for #image asset studio".
I want to delete a project in android studio with all files should be removed from the directory also.
Am using android studio 2.1.2, upon right click on the project there is no delete option
I have already check in this link Remove Project from Android Studio there were some solution such as,
1.move your mouse cursor on the project and press Delete keyboard button
2.Go to your Android project directory
Delete which one you need to delete
Restart Android Studio
but i need a better solution to remove it permanently in the directory also with safe mode.
Which one is best solution stated above or is there any solution to do it.? would appreciated expected solution.thanks.!
You can simply delete it by following some simple steps:
Click on projects
Select project that need to be deleted
Right click on it
Goto Show in Explorer
A window opens that shows the project you need to be deleted
Delete it..
second solution is for mac ok:
1.go to folder: "AndroidStudioProjects"
2.then delete project folder that you want
3.reopen the android studio.
How to open an Android Studio project from the Finder? I see the below list of files. Is it possible to double-click one of them to get it opened by Android Studio?
Sorry, but there is no one-click run solution like I expect you have with some IDEs like Visual Studio or CodeBlocks.
All you need to do is open your Android Studio and then import a project.
EDIT: I've already run Android project in Android Studio using Terminal (using Ubuntu 14.04LTS). This is my full command:
./android/android-studio/bin/studio.sh workspace/Android/glucosio-android/
Hope you find it useful
You can create command line launcher Tools > Creat Command-line Launcher
If you are using macOS then create an Automator Quick action.
Configure like following
Add a run shell script, then paste /usr/local/bin/studio $#. Make sure pass input is changed to as Arguments.
Save it (say Open with Android studio), then right click on the studio project folder > Quick actions > Open with Android studio. Or if you don't have much quick action this will list in the bottom of the context menu itself.
No, You need import the project from the Android studio.
There isn't a way to open directly from finder. What you need to do is:
On Android Studio go to File Menu -> New... -> Import Project
In Finder, select the ListView_Ex2.iml file.
Right click, and select Get Info
Under Open with: select Other and choose Android Studio, then Always Open With, and click Add.
Click Change All...
You can now double-click any IML file to open that project.
I work upon an Android project on MacOS. Recently i had to create a copy of my project in another location. Say it was Users/user/SVN/Applications/BarPoject/AndroidBarProject and now it is Users/user/Projects/AndroidBarProject.
Now i'm trying to make Eclipse work with the project in new location. When launching Eclipse i browse to the new workspace then i click OK and then i'm presented with a popup alert which reads:
An error has occurred. See the log file /Users/user/Projects/AndroidBarProject/.metadata/.log
What i do next is i open Eclipse in the old workspace and click File/Switch Workspace but again i see exactly the same popup message. How do i fix it?
Open Eclipse -> File -> Switch Work Space-> Other
I have created a basic program in Eclipse for Android 2.1. then I wanted to look at some of the samples, and import sample projects which are in the SDK directory. I have tried opening a new project and 'create project from existing source', I browse and can select a project, all the details come up and I can click finish, but I receive an error message saying 'could not write file', and if I click on details, it says "access is denied" I have tried copying a project folder into my own workspace but it still does the same thing.
Right click in the package explorer window.
Select New -> Other
Under the Android folder select Android Sample Project
Choose the build target and then the sample project
In the new android project window there should be three options:
1. Create new project in workspace
2. Create project from existing source
3. Create project from existing sample
(The third one is a bit hidden, as there is a text box, and check box below the second item before the third one.
Select #3, then select the api level you want the sample for (in the list below), then you can select a sample from the now non-grayed out list.
This is security issue:
Go to you android SDK directory in my case (windows 7, 64 bit) its "C:\Program Files (x86)"
Right click on Android directory and choose 'properties'.
Go to 'security' tab and click on 'Edit'.
Choose Users from the list and tic on 'full control'.
Apply.
1- In Eclipse->Window->Preferences->Android, make sure you have set the SDK Location then Apply and press OK
2- Select File->New->Android Project
3- Click on Create project from existing samples
4- Select the SDK version and select the sample you want
Try this in ADT.
File --> New --> Project.. --> Android Sample Project(Inside Android) --> (Select your build target) and finish. If you installed the sample projects, it will show the list of projects. Select and open.
If you want to import sample projects into Eclipse, do the following:
Click the File menu on the top left of the Eclipse screen.
Select Import.
In the pop-up menu, select Existing Projects into Workspace.
In the next pop-up menu where it says Select root directory, click the Browse button
Browse to the folder where your sample projects are located. Each project should be inside a folder by itself.
Select the folder.
Click the OK button.
If it is a complete project, it will be imported into Eclipe where you can run it, and modify it if needed.
