Add right margin to the options menu sub-items

Currently, my options menu is aligned to the end of the screen. I want to give it a margin, something like android:layout_marginEnd = "20dp". How can I achieve this?

Here is the image of my problem. It shows how the end of the menu and the screen are aligned. I want space/margin between these two.

This is an interesting problem. I tried with many things found on the internet, but nothing works. I tried setting the actionOverflowMenuStyle with dropDownHorizontalOffset attribute which does not work either. Finally, I ended up getting a PopupMenu which works just fine. Here is the implementation.
Get your initial menu shorter with a single item which will open up the popup menu as a submenu.

Then create another menu, in your /res/menu/ folder, named popup_menu.xml like the following.

open navigation drawer when options icon pressed

I use navigation drawer in my app, set from right to left. I want it to only open when I press the options menu button is pressed(3 dots).
I tried this thread

When you are pressing the 3 dots android will reveal the menu items that are collapsed.
If you want to open the drawer from a menu item, I suggest you find an icon representing the 3 dots (or keep the drawer like icon) and:

How to show icon with option menu.I have tried the following code but my option menu is without image icon.I am using android version 4.0 for developing app.

Override OnPrepareOptionsMenu and add icon from there too
and if its for above 3.0, use android:showAsAction in xml.
eg. android:showAsAction="ifRoom|withText"

Easiest way is to use the #drawable only when setting your menu item.
OR
Simply put the #drawable before the title declaration.

the problem is the Androidmanifest.xml.
Remove android:theme="#style/AppTheme" and it will work just fine

How to create Spinner Action Item in Action Bar

Anyone know how to create the submenu with radio buttons like in the screenshot?

If you want a submenu with checkable radio buttons you should use something like that:

Android menuItem not displaying until you click on it....?

I believe my question is simple for most experienced Android developers but I cannot figure it out.
I am trying to set the name in a menuItem and make the text WHITE colored.
The text gets displayed only if I click on the menuItem, or rather when I click on the menuItem, the text turns white and is readable.
Any useful help how I can make the text white and visible all the time in the menuItem?

Not sure I understand which text you want to set to white...
