send data between activity in sqllite - android

I have problem in my code
I want to send data when the user clicks
and receive data in another activity
example
I want to send position of items and on I go to second activity
I want to display form table where position = description field
my code
lv.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() {
#Override
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) {
Intent i = new Intent(getApplicationContext(),Details.class);
i.putExtra("id",position);
startActivity(i);
}
});
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_details);
TextView t1=(TextView)findViewById(R.id.t1);
ImageButton im=(ImageButton)findViewById(R.id.im);
Intent data=getIntent();
String des=data.getStringExtra("id");
// myDbHelper.openDataBase();
Cursor curser= DBAdapter.myDataBase.rawQuery("SELECT * FROM sweet where id = '" + des + "'", null);
curser.moveToPosition(0);
while (!curser.isAfterLast()) {
t1.append(curser.getColumnIndex(0));
curser.close();
}
Second Activity
Intent data=getIntent();
int des=data.getIntExtra("id", 1);
//String s= String.valueOf(des);
//
// Cursor sq= myDbHelper.myDataBase.rawQuery("select * from sweet where description = '"+des+"')",null);
try {
//String query = "SELECT * FROM sweet WHERE " + des + " = name";
String query = "SELECT * FROM sweet WHERE " + des + " = name";
SQLiteDatabase database = myDbHelper.getReadableDatabase();
//Cursor sq = myDbHelper.myDataBase.rawQuery("select * from sweet", null);
Cursor cursor = database.rawQuery(query, null);
cursor.moveToFirst();
String description = cursor.getString(2);
t1.setText(description);
}
tabele
My table
id
name

this is 3 field

Intent data=getIntent();
int des=data.getIntExtra("id", 1);

Cursor not working as expected

I'm trying to pass objects from a SQLite database to a fragment, but they're getting nulled somewhere along the way.
The Log.i line in DatabaseHelper outputs as expected, but the Log.i line in CollectionsFragment does not -- it returns the correct number of values, but all of them are null.
I feel like logging collectionsList in DatabaseHelper would be useful, but I'm not sure how to do that with an ArrayList.
Snippet from DatabaseHelper:
public List<Book> getAllCollections(int authorID) {
List<Book> collectionsList = new ArrayList<>();
// Select all query
String selectQuery = "SELECT DISTINCT collection FROM " + BOOKS + " WHERE author_id = '" + authorID + "'";
SQLiteDatabase db = this.getWritableDatabase();
Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(selectQuery, null);
// looping through all rows and adding to list
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
do {
Book book = new Book();
book.setCollection(cursor.getString(0));
Log.i("stories", cursor.getString(0)); // returns with correct values
collectionsList.add(book);
} while (cursor.moveToNext());
}
return collectionsList;
// not sure how to log collectionsList here
}
Snippet from CollectionsFragment:
// link ListView object with XML ListView
collectionsListView = (ListView) view.findViewById(R.id.collections_list_view);
// create new instance of DatabaseHelper
DatabaseHelper db = new DatabaseHelper(getActivity());
// return view;
// create list of collections through getAllCollections method
List<Book> collectionsList = db.getAllCollections(authorID);
Log.i("testing", collectionsList.toString()); // returns [null, null]
// create new ArrayAdapter
ArrayAdapter<Book> arrayAdapter =
new ArrayAdapter<Book>(getActivity(), android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, collectionsList);
// link ListView and ArrayAdapter
collectionsListView.setAdapter(arrayAdapter);
Book Class:
public class Book {
int id;
String title;
int author_id;
String collection;
String body;
#Override
public String toString() {
return title;
}
public Book() {
}

this.body = body;
}

Android how to get clicked itemid from Listview and update another column value on this row

I am making small app. It has 2 listview on MainActivity.
DB is SQLLite and has tree cloumns id(int), person(text), status(text).
Firt listview will be show informations from DB with this query
select * from DB where status=B
And next ListView will show information where status=A.
lv1.status=b | lv2.status=a
Person 1 | Person 2
Person 3 | Person 4
When i click lv2 on item, value of clicked lv2 field 'status' must change to 'b'.
But I can not write right query for db.
public void changeUser(){
db = this.getWritableDatabase();
ContentValues values = new ContentValues();
values.put(KEY_STATUS, "B");
db.update(TABLE_ORDER, values, null, null);
db.close();
}
Thanks
Here is my code

If you look closely at the SQLiteDatabase.update() method, you will see it is declared as
int update (String table,
ContentValues values,
String whereClause,
String[] whereArgs)
Note the last two parameters. These are how you select which rows to update. For example, you can specify to only update rows with a given id:
public void changeUser(int userId){
db = this.getWritableDatabase();
ContentValues values = new ContentValues();
values.put(KEY_STATUS, "B");
String whereClause = "_id = ?";
String where = new String[] {Integer.toString(userId)};
db.update(TABLE_ORDER, values, whereClause, where);
db.close();
}
Here I am assuming you use the conventional column name _id. Of course, you can change this to suit your needs if you have a different column name.
Note that you will now need to pass a parameter to changeUser(). However, you have not shown how nor where you currently call it, so I am unable to provide any advice how to change this.

Get single record from Inner Joins SQLite

I am new to android programming. I am having a little issue on how to retrieve a single record while using Inner joins. From research I know how to do it with one table e.g
public Shop getShop(int id) {
SQLiteDatabase db = this.getReadableDatabase();
Cursor cursor = db.query(TABLE_SHOPS, new String[] { KEY_ID,
KEY_NAME, KEY_SH_ADDR }, KEY_ID + "=?",
new String[] { String.valueOf(id) }, null, null, null, null);
if (cursor != null)
cursor.moveToFirst();
Shop contact = new Shop(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(0)),
cursor.getString(1), cursor.getString(2));
// return shop
return contact;
}
But I am at a loss when I have to consider three different tables. I have been able to retrieve all records, currently my code to retreive a single record is below. I have been able to replace ? with a corresponding id and it works but I obviously do not want to have that static.
getTeam method
//Getting Single Team
public List < Team > getTeam() {
List < Team > teamList = new ArrayList < Team > ();
// Select All Query
String selectQuery = "SELECT teams.id, teams.team_name, teams.image, teams_vs_leagues.points, leagues.league_name " +
"FROM teams_vs_leagues " +
"INNER JOIN teams " +
"ON teams_vs_leagues.team_id = teams.id " +
"INNER JOIN leagues " +
"ON teams_vs_leagues.league_id = leagues.id " +
"WHERE teams.id = ?";
SQLiteDatabase db = this.getWritableDatabase();
Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(selectQuery, null);
// looping through all rows and adding to list
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
do {
Team team = new Team();
team.setId(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(0)));
team.setTeamName(cursor.getString(1));
team.setPath(cursor.getString(2));
team.setPoints(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(3)));
team.setLeagueName(cursor.getString(4));
// Adding team to list
teamList.add(team);
} while (cursor.moveToNext());
}
// close inserting data from database
db.close();
// return team list
return teamList;
}
Team class
public class Team {
String team_name, path, league_name;
int id, league_id, points;
public Team(int keyId, String team_name, String path,
int points, String league_name) {
this.id = keyId;
this.team_name = team_name;
this.path = path;
this.points = points;
this.league_name = league_name;
}
public Team() {}
public Team(int keyId) {
this.id = keyId;
}
public int getId() {
return id;
}
public void setId(int keyId) {
this.id = keyId;
}
public int getLeagueId() {
return league_id;
}
public String getTeamName() {
return team_name;
}
public String getLeagueName() {
return league_name;
}
public void setLeagueName(String league_name) {
this.league_name = league_name;
}
public int getPoints() {
return points;
}
public void setPoints(int points) {
this.points = points;
}
public void setTeamName(String team_name) {
this.team_name = team_name;
}
public void setLeague_id(int league_id) {
this.league_id = league_id;
}
public void setPath(String path) {
this.path = path;
}
public String getPath() {
return path;
}
}
Since you are using placeholder
"WHERE teams.id = ?";
in your query , you need to pass selection arguments in rawQuery() so that during the execution of your query , the placeholder will be replaced by the actual value.
Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(selectQuery, new String[]{id});//"id" is the value which you want to pass in place of "?". You can hardcode it or you can pass it all the way to getTeam()
Check this .

Load different values from a database column

How I can get a different values from a column with the same name (like the photo)?
In the photo, "test" have a 3 differents values, how I can load them to a ListView or a Spinner?
I have this code, works, but don't get the 3 values, only first value:
MainActivity
public void lookupProduct (View view) {
DatabaseHandler dbHandler = new DatabaseHandler(getApplicationContext());
Name name = dbHandler.findProduct(spinner.getSelectedItem().toString());
Toast.makeText(this, spinner.getSelectedItem().toString(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
Intent j = new Intent(view.getContext(), SubActivity.class);
Bundle dados = new Bundle();
if (name != null) {
inputLabel.setText(String.valueOf(name.getName()));
values.setText(String.valueOf(name.getValue()));
// Passar para SubActivity
dados.putString("name", String.valueOf(name.getName()));
dados.putString("value", String.valueOf(name.getValue()));
} else {
inputLabel.setText("No Match Found");
dados.putString("name","No Match Found" );
dados.putString("value", "No Match Found");
}
j.putExtras(dados);
startActivity(j);
}
DatabaseHelper
public Name findProduct(String name) {
String query = "Select * FROM " + TABLE_LABELS + " WHERE " + KEY_NAME + " = \"" + name + "\"";
SQLiteDatabase db = this.getWritableDatabase();
Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(query, null);
Name names = new Name();
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
cursor.moveToFirst();
names.setID(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(0)));
names.setName(cursor.getString(1));
names.setValue(cursor.getString(2));
cursor.close();
} else {
names = null;
}
db.close();
return names;
}
NameClass
public class Name {
private int _id;
private String _name;
private String _value;
public Name() {
}
public Name(int id, String name, String value) {
this._id = id;
this._name = name;
this._value = value;
}
public Name(String name, String value) {
this._name = name;
this._value = value;
}public String getName() {
return this._name;
}
public String getValue() {
return this._value;
}
Try this
Name names = new Name();
ArrayList<Name > listaName= new ArrayList<>();//create an arraylist of your
custom objects
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
do {
names.setID(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(0)));
names.setName(cursor.getString(1));
names.setValue(cursor.getString(2));
listaName.add(names);//add your object to arraylist(you were overriding the object.)
} while (cursor.moveToNext());
cursor.close();
//AND ALSO CLOSE DB:
db.close
EDIT 2: Try this and change your --> String Query = "Select * from "+TABLE_NAME;
for ( int i= 1; i< listaName.size(); i++ ) {
System.out.println(listaName.get(i).getName());
}
Your problem:
public Name findProduct(String name) {
String query = "Select * FROM " + TABLE_LABELS + " WHERE " + KEY_NAME + " = \"" + name + "\"";
SQLiteDatabase db = this.getWritableDatabase();
Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(query, null);
Name names = new Name();
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
cursor.moveToFirst(); // this is not necessary because on the top line,
you put it in that position
names.setID(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(0)));
names.setName(cursor.getString(1));
names.setValue(cursor.getString(2));
cursor.close(); // You should not close until it is
completely used
} else {
names = null;
}
db.close();
return names;
}
And to read all the cursor is necessary to use a do-while method
If you have any problems, you can ask me again
Though not yet tested, you can try this:
// fetch data from DB
public ArrayList<Name> findProduct(String name) {
String query = "Select * FROM " + TABLE_LABELS + " WHERE " + KEY_NAME + " = \"" + name + "\"";
SQLiteDatabase db = this.getWritableDatabase();
Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(query, null);
ArrayList<Name> listOfNames= new ArrayList<>();
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
do {
listOfNames.add(new Name(Integer.parseInt(cursor.getString(0)), cursor.getString(1), cursor.getString(2)));
} while (cursor.moveToNext());
cursor.close();
db.close
return listOfNames;
}
// add data on spinner
public void addItemsOnSpinner() {
Spinner mSpinner = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.mSpinner);
ArrayList<String> list = new ArrayList<String>();
for(Name name: findProduct("test")){
list.add(name.getValue());
}
ArrayAdapter<String> dataAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, list);
dataAdapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item);
mSpinner.setAdapter(dataAdapter);
}

I assume you have an activity with a list of categories, and onClick of a particular item you want to launch new activity with details of that Item.
I suggest you when you launch the listScreen, query all/some items and maintaine an arrayList of items and save that in some singleton class, then onClick of a particular item pass that index to detail screen via intent.putExtra("index", position) and on detail Screen get that index via getIntent().getIntExtra("index", -1) .now get details of that particular index from arraylist saved in singleton class.
This approach will reduce cost of querying every time from database and data will be available easily.
Change
Cursor data = (Cursor)l.getItemAtPosition(position);
String cat = Cursor.getString(Cursor.getIndexColumn(MySQLiteHelper.COLUMN_ID));
to
Cursor data = (Cursor)l.getItemAtPosition(position);
Long clid = data.getLong(data.getIndexColumn(MySQLiteHelper.COLUMN_ID));
String cat=Long.toString(clid);
those two lines:
Cursor data = (Cursor)l.getItemAtPosition(position);
String cat = Cursor.getString(Cursor.getIndexColumn(MySQLiteHelper.COLUMN_ID));
makes absolutely no sense at all! If you're using a CursorAdapter why are you creating an array of objects? If you're using a ArrayAdapter why are you getting data from cursor?
Also, Cursor don't have any static methods to be called like that. That shouldn't even compile.
If you're using a CursorAdater (or some class that extend it) you the id is passed to you long id here protected void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, int position, long id)
