How to create two shapes inside an item drawable?

I am using a custom layout for a progressbar which consist of small bars depending on the count of steps. A layout can be seen below:
I want to create an item that shows a black bar and a white bar which looks like space in between progresses.
Now, I know its possible to create this with two separate item. But I the item as progress of a progressbar. For example:

Now, how can I create a custom item that can consist of two shapes inside it?

Progress bar shadow only on filled part

Implementing a progress bar in android, trying to get a drop shadow on the bottom part of the filled section only, like this:
API level is KitKat and up but i wont mind a solution that applies to LOLLIPOP and up only.
Elevation does not seem to work, nor do the card View.
any sugesstions?

Create the following xml shape and place it as your progressBar background.
** The 10dp in the xml assumes the progressBar is 20dp in Height and that you want the shadow to be exactly half of it.

Set remaining progress bar color in android

I'm setting the color of the progress bar using the following style code

My progressbar looks like below image
How can I set the color of the grey part shown in my progress bar???

Create a file custom_progressbar.xml in your drawable

The progress bar uses a layer list that holds several layers. You need background and progress. Hope this helps you :)

Add this line of code to your progress bar XML.
android:progressBackgroundTint="#ReplaceThisWithYourColor"
It works for me.

Add the following code in styles.xml

After you have added the style in your activity layout add:
<ProgressBar
android:id="#+id/customProgress"
style="#style/CustomProgressBar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"/>
The progress dispaly below in a frame it's a little tricky because you need to extend the ProgressBar class and make the changes there.
I will leave here some examples and notify when I will add them in my github project.

Create rectangle progress bar in android

Hello, I want to create progress bar which should look like above image. Here, I have created one like below image.
Below is the xml file which I created in drawable folder under res,
progress.xml

Customizing a progress bar requires defining the attribute or properties for background and and progress of your progress bar.
create a xml file named customprogressbar.xml in your res-> drawable folder
customprogressbar.xml

Now you need to set the to set the progressDrawable property to customprogressbar.xml(drawable)
you can do it in xml file or in Activity(at run time)
In your xml do like following
<ProgressBar
android:id="#+id/progressBar1"
style="?android:attr/progressBarStyleHorizontal"
android:progressDrawable="#drawable/custom_progressbar"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
at runtime do the following
// Get the Drawable custom_progressbar
Drawable draw= res.getDrawable(R.drawable.custom_progressbar);
// set the drawable as progress drawavle
progressBar.setProgressDrawable(draw);

You need to change xml to mention start-color, end-color and center.
Mention color values properly: start-color: left, end-color: right and center.
