I'm looking for a layout like the L Clock:
More specifically, the 7 letters with circles around it.
I really want to make a layout with 7 circles with the same size (in any device) one next to the other (horizontally).
What I tried to do was:
To make a LinearLayout with orientation=horizontal.
To make a "oval shape" to apply on 7 TextViews inside this LinearLayout.
Then I put on each TextView a weight=1.
That didn't work (and I was not sure if it was a good idea since I heard we must avoid using "weight") and, I tried to creat a custom textview and override the onMeasure method.
Class
#Override
protected void onMeasure(int widthMeasureSpec, int heightMeasureSpec) {
int height = getDefaultSize(getSuggestedMinimumHeight(), heightMeasureSpec);
setMeasuredDimension(height, height);
}
Layout
<br.com.sibela.testtextviewsamesize.component.RoundTextView
android:layout_margin="10dp"
android:textAlignment="center"
android:layout_weight="1"
android:background="#drawable/circular_textview"
android:text="T"
android:layout_gravity="center"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
Shape:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:shape="oval">
<solid android:color="#4488FF" />
</shape>
Now I need to know two things:
1) How do I make the 7 rounded circles with the same size ocupping the whole width of the screen?
2) Should I really avoid using weight?
UPDATE:
XML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

You're in for a lot of trouble if you choose to subclass TextView. TextView does a lot of things, but you don't need it here.
Instead, make a custom view, use it once for each letter, and in the onDraw for the view, simply draw the circle and letter into the Canvas as you want them to appear (using drawText and drawCircle). You can still arrange your custom views any way you like, but you won't have to guess what TextView is going to do with your text because YOU control its rendering instead.
It will appear to be extra work up front to make a custom view, but you will save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run.
One option is, get 7 images, and you can use this CircleImageView class to make it as circular.

Instead of ImageView use CircleImageView in both java and XML.
Hope it helps! :)

I created a cornerRadius card view and my codes work well in activity but the problem now is that the cardview does not show the rounded edges and elevation in fragment but it shows in the design codes and in activity. my codes are shown blow:

How to fix this.
In Activity

If you are trying to make the imageview circular, I propose this approach.Create the custom view and set it in your xml. It works perfectly. If this helps you, an upvote will be appreciated.
Create a custom Circular view like shown below. CircleImageView.java

The reason you see "Views" in my xml call of the CircleImageView is because my CircleImageView.java is in "Views" folder/package.
I'm trying to make one rounded corner of ImageView like in the picture below but with bottom right corner. Tried using background shape but it's not working at all. All images loaded by Glide. Should i use something like ViewOutlineProvider? Is there are an efficient way to do this? Thanks!
<shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" >
<corners
android:radius="2dp"
android:bottomRightRadius="20dp"
android:bottomLeftRadius="0dp"
android:topLeftRadius="0dp"
android:topRightRadius="0dp"/>
</shape>
With jetpack compose you can apply the clip Modifier using a RoundedCornerShape:
Image(painterResource(id = R.drawable.xxx),
contentDescription = "xxxx",
contentScale = ContentScale.Crop,
modifier = Modifier
.size(xx.dp,xx.dp)
.clip(RoundedCornerShape(topStart = 12.dp)),
)
With The Material Components library you can use the ShapeableImageView (introduced with the version 1.2.0-alpha03).
Just use something like:
<com.google.android.material.imageview.ShapeableImageView
android:id="#+id/image_view"
android:scaleType="centerInside"
android:adjustViewBounds="true"
../>
then in your code you can apply the ShapeAppearanceModel with:
ShapeableImageView imageView = findViewById(R.id.image_view);
float radius = getResources().getDimension(R.dimen.default_corner_radius);
imageView.setShapeAppearanceModel(imageView.getShapeAppearanceModel()
.toBuilder()
.setTopRightCorner(CornerFamily.ROUNDED,radius)
.build());
You can also apply in the xml the shapeAppearanceOverlay parameter:
<com.google.android.material.imageview.ShapeableImageView
app:shapeAppearanceOverlay="#style/customRroundedImageView"
app:srcCompat="#drawable/ic_image" />
with:
<style name="customRoundedImageView" parent="">
<item name="cornerFamily">rounded</item>
<item name="cornerSize">0dp</item>
<item name="cornerSizeTopRight">8dp</item>
</style>
Also if you want to get rid of writing code in ".java" file. Then you can define style like below and just add it to your ShapeableImageView:
<com.google.android.material.imageview.ShapeableImageView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="#drawable/ex_image"
app:shapeAppearanceOverlay="#style/roundedImageView"
/>
then:
<style name="roundedImageView" parent="">
<item name="cornerFamilyTopRight">rounded</item>
<item name="cornerSizeTopRight">30dp</item>
</style>
this is your main layout file which uses a custom drawable "round_one.xml"file. just copy and paste this code.
it will hopefully meet your requirements.

I hope it works for you
I want to set border to circular Image view and also want the image view to be inside the circle, so below is my code-
public static Bitmap getRoundedRectBitmap(Bitmap bitmap, int pixels) {
Bitmap result = null;
try {
result = Bitmap.createBitmap(pixels, pixels, Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888);
Canvas canvas = new Canvas(result);
Paint paint = new Paint();
Rect rect = new Rect(0, 0, pixels*2, pixels*2);
// paint.setAntiAlias(true);
//; canvas.drawARGB(0, 0, 0, 0);
paint.setStyle(Paint.Style.FILL);
paint.setColor(Color.WHITE);
canvas.drawCircle(pixels/2, pixels/2, pixels/2, paint);
paint.setStyle(Paint.Style.STROKE);
paint.setStrokeWidth(15);
paint.setColor(Color.parseColor("#17B3F0"));
canvas.drawCircle(pixels/2+0.7f, pixels/2+0.7f, pixels/2+0.1f, paint);
paint.setXfermode(new PorterDuffXfermode(PorterDuff.Mode.SRC_IN));
canvas.drawBitmap(bitmap, rect, rect, paint);
} catch (NullPointerException e) {
} catch (OutOfMemoryError o) {
}
return result;
}
So the problem is with the line
paint.setXfermode(new PorterDuffXfermode(PorterDuff.Mode.SRC_IN));
If I am commenting this line, it's making all the properties added to paint object visible but making image comes out of the circle.
But I want the Image to be inside the circle as well as a border to be set.
Any help is appreciated.Thanks.
Updated from Here -
I have created a custom class which MyCustomAdapter and Inside getView I am setting the imageView onStateChangeListener as below -
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
int type = getItemViewType(position);
View view = inflater.inflate(type == List_Section ? R.layout.section : R.layout.listitem, parent, false);
if (type == List_Section) {
departments = ((TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.tv_li_section));
departments.setText(list_complete_data.get(position).toString());
} else {
//StateListDrawable stateListDrawable = (StateListDrawable) view.getBackground();
Emp_name = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.emp_name);
Emp_number = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.emp_no);
small_profile =(CircleImageView)view.findViewById(R.id.small_profile);
Log.e(TAG,"small_profile====="+small_profile);
Log.e(TAG,"inside getView=====");
small_profile.setOnStateChangedListener(new OnStateChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onStateChanged(int state) {
Log.e(TAG,"onStateistener and state=="+state+".,,,R.attr.state_on==="+R.attr.state_on+",,,R.attr.state_off=="+R.attr.state_off);
switch (state){
case R.attr.state_on :
small_profile.setBorderColor(Color.parseColor("#ffffff"));
break;
case R.attr.state_off:
small_profile.setBorderColor(Color.parseColor("#000000"));
break;
}
}
});
EDIT : I have made some changes to the code according to your requirements:
add the following interface to your project:
public interface OnStateChangeListener {
void onStateChanged(int state);
}

EDIT in attrs.xml:
and this in attrs.xml
<declare-styleable name="CircleImageView">
<attr name="civ_border_width" format="dimension" />
<attr name="civ_border_color" format="color" />
<attr name="civ_border_overlay" format="boolean" />
<attr name="civ_fill_color" format="color" />
<attr name="state_on" format="boolean" />
<attr name="state_off" format="boolean" />
</declare-styleable>
and use it like this in your code :
<com.yourpackagename.CircleImageView
android:layout_width="64dp"
android:layout_height="64dp"
android:id="#+id/img"
app:civ_border_width="1dp"
app:civ_border_color="#000"
android:src="#drawable/profile_pic"/>
and then in your code do the following:
yourImageView.setOnStateChangedListener(new OnStateChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onStateChanged(int state) {
switch (state){
case R.attr.state_on:
yourImageView.setBorderColor(Color.parseColor("#00ff00"));
break;
case R.attr.state_off:
yourImageView.setBorderColor(Color.parseColor("#ff00ff"));
//do anything you would do after onclick of this imageview here, like open a new activity.
break;
}
Log.e("STATECHANGE", "State changed to: " + context.getResources().getResourceEntryName(state));
}
});
reference : https://stackoverflow.com/a/21969864/2251837
As you can see this code works fine for me. Can you post your code, how you did it, then may be I will be able to help?
EDIT: This is what you need to change in your getView() method :
view.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() { // here view is this view : View view = inflater.inflate(type == List_Section ? R.layout.section : R.layout.listitem, parent, false);
#Override
public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
small_profile.dispatchTouchEvent(event);
return false;
}
});
You need to draw 2 bitmap here to activate Xfermode:
private Bitmap maskingImage(Bitmap s1, Bitmap s2) {
Bitmap result = Bitmap.createBitmap(s2.getWidth(), s2.getHeight(), Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888);
Canvas mCanvas = new Canvas(result);
Paint paint = new Paint(Paint.ANTI_ALIAS_FLAG);
paint.setXfermode(new PorterDuffXfermode(PorterDuff.Mode.DST_IN));
mCanvas.drawBitmap(s1, 0, 0, null);
mCanvas.drawBitmap(s2, 0, 0, paint);
paint.setXfermode(null);
return result;
}
s2 is ur circle, s1 is ur image. If you want to change to Mode.SRC_IN, just swap s1 and s2 param position
is there anyone that have idea to how create 3 circle progressbar inside each other ? I want something like image below. I tried some but when increase thickness of shape is becomes regtangle !!!
any suggestion ?
<rotate xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:fromDegrees="270"
android:toDegrees="270">
<shape
android:innerRadiusRatio="2.5"
android:shape="ring"
android:thicknessRatio="11"
android:useLevel="true">
<gradient
android:angle="0"
android:endColor="#007DD6"
android:startColor="#007DD6"
android:type="sweep"
android:useLevel="false" />
</shape>
but this is my result :
as you can see the thickness of progressbar is decreased.
and the other is how to set the gray thickness of progressbar same as the colored one !!

if (mBitmapWidth * mDrawableRect.height() > mDrawableRect.width() * mBitmapHeight) {
scale = mDrawableRect.height() / (float) mBitmapHeight;
dx = (mDrawableRect.width() - mBitmapWidth * scale) * 0.5f;
} else {
scale = mDrawableRect.width() / (float) mBitmapWidth;
dy = (mDrawableRect.height() - mBitmapHeight * scale) * 0.5f;
}
mShaderMatrix.setScale(scale, scale);
mShaderMatrix.postTranslate((int) (dx + 0.5f) + mBorderWidth, (int) (dy + 0.5f) + mBorderWidth);
mBitmapShader.setLocalMatrix(mShaderMatrix);
}
}
And My layout is
<com.example.util.CircleImageView
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
app:border_color="#color/white"
app:border_width="2dp"
android:id="#+id/chooseanavatar"
android:layout_width="45dp"
android:layout_height="45dp"
android:layout_marginTop="5dp"
android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal"
android:layout_centerVertical="true"
/>
I think I found a solution in lollipop.
myView = LinearLayout(parent layout for the circleview not the circleview itself)
myView.setLayerType(View.LAYER_TYPE_SOFTWARE, null);
This disable hardware acceleration.
You can use this to circleimageview's parent view, profile_img_container.
Don't use this to circleimageview directly. It willl show you black outer circle.
<LinearLayout
android:id="#+id/profile_img_container"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:gravity="center"
android:paddingTop="20dp"
android:paddingBottom="20dp"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:layout_collapseMode="parallax">
<de.hdodenhof.circleimageview.CircleImageView
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:id="#+id/profile_image"
android:layout_width="96dp"
android:layout_height="96dp"
android:src="#drawable/profile002"
android:layout_marginTop="20dp"
app:civ_border_width="1dp"
app:civ_border_color="#44000000"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:layout_collapseMode="parallax"/>
</LinearLayout>

circle_imageview.setLayerType(View.LAYER_TYPE_HARDWARE, null);
its working on me. check this link
Came through the same problem with a similar view on 7.0.
Solved by drawing a white canvas before drawing anything else.
#Override
public void onDraw(Canvas canvas) {
canvas.drawARGB(255, 255, 255, 255);
...
}
This workaround has the same visual result as setting a white background directly in the XML, but will not work well if this view is child of a non-flat view (you will see a a white square).
finally got solution ...
this problem resolve after enable hardwareAccelerated in android manifest file.
Add android:hardwareAccelerated="true" to your manifest
After enable this no black area show behind the image while using shapeable image view.
hope your problem resolved ..
Are you using lollipop currently because that problem only appears on lollipop devices,it works fine in pre-lollipop.
Try it with pre-lollipop and if you are using lollipop add this line:
paintBorder.setAlpha(254);
Try changing the background of RelativeLayout of CircleImageView. See below for reference:
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="0dp"
android:layout_weight="1"
android:padding="#dimen/base_padding"
android:background="#color/light">
<com.example.util.CircleImageView
android:layout_width="160dp"
android:layout_height="160dp"
android:layout_centerInParent="true"
android:src="#drawable/hugh"
app:border_width="2dp"
app:border_color="#color/dark" />
</RelativeLayout>
