Layout hides if keyboard is displayed - android

I have created a layout for a fragment which contains EditText box and one Recyclerview.whenever i click on edidtext box for inputting, whole layout disappears and when i press back button, keyboard hides and layout is again displayed.

You have to switch your activity's windowSoftInputMode flag to "adjustPan". Check official documentation for further reference.
<activity
...
android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan">
</activity>
Hope it works for you.

Edittext hide under keyboard when edittext create on RunTime

I have a layout with scroll view as root layout with one linear layout as child with vertical orientation. I add a list of edit text dynamically in linear layout onCreate of activity. Problem is when i focus on an edit text the layout doesn't scroll up on soft keyboard up. But works perfectly if edit text are not added dynamically.
I have already set adjust pan in manifest.
In your Manifest file add the following code for this particular activity
<activity android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan">
or
Activity.getWindow().setSoftInputMode(WindowManager.LayoutParams.SOFT_INPUT_ADJUST_PAN);
<activity
android:name=".ActivityName"
android:screenOrientation="nosensor"
android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan|stateAlwaysHidden" />
Use nosensor if you want to use the app only for portrait modes. Use stateAlwaysHidden in the if you don't want android to pop that keyboard up everytime your activity opens.

How to prevent soft keyboard cover my views

In the layout file of one of my activities I've got 2 inputs at the top and at the bottom and a next button.
The problem is, when keyboard shows, it covers the button. How can I bring the views above keyboard?
Check this blog post On-screen Input Methods
You can use android:windowSoftInputMode attribute to specify what should happen whether the layout is resized or whether it scrolls.
In your manifest file
<activity name=".YourActivity"
android:windowSoftInputMode="stateVisible|adjustResize">
...
</activity>

Just put in manifest..
Use "adjustResize"
It makes main window always resized to make room for the soft keyboard on screen.
<application
......
>
<activity
.............................
android:windowSoftInputMode="stateAlwaysHidden|adjustResize" />
</application>

Android soft keyboard hides button

I do have a simple login view like shown below.
If any EditText gains focus, the keyboard will be shown (soft). The red dashed line should outline this behavior:
What I need is, that the Buttons at the bottom (Signup & Help) are invisible while Keyboard is showing. The bottom end of the login button should be over the keyboard, so that both EditTexts and the Login Button are visible.
At best half of the Logo should be visible if possible (depending on screen size)
It would be perfectly fine to define an extra layout xml like "keyboard is visible" if that's possible.
1) ScrollView as parent layout so that it can be scrolled by user.
2) using only adjustResize
3) Use
software keyboard show/hide event to have more control. You can set visibility of the layout below login button with View.GONE while keyboard is visibe.
extra:
Check Specifying the Input Method Type . Next and Done actions for convenience of user
Do somthing like dis. Here "android:name" is your activity.
<activity
android:name="com.example.tryitonjewelry.EnterStoreRegisterNew"
android:label="#string/title_activity_enter_store_register_new"
android:screenOrientation="portrait"
android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.ENTERSTOREREGISTERNEW" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
You can manage it by few steps. When KeyBoard popup then do the following steps or you can wrap these in a method...
Get the window height.
Determine the keyboard height.
Scroll your view above the keyboard height using scrollTo() method.

Fragment 2 pane windowSoftInputMode for soft keyboard

I am facing issues when soft keyboard opens up on my 2 pane layout as seen above.
For the left side list view fragment i want to adjustPan the soft input. If i don't do this then when the soft keyboard closes it leaves back blank space on the list fragment.
For the right side detail pane i want to adjestResize the soft input so that user can enter text into both edit texts and click button with soft keyboard still open.
I tried setting the properties differently for my fragments in their respective onCreateView() using setSoftInputMode() but that did not help me much because both fragments got adjustResize finally.
Any solutions/ideas which will help me with this?
Thanks in advance.
to ensure that the system resizes your layout to the available
space—which ensures that all of your layout content is accessible
(even though it probably requires scrolling)—use "adjustResize":
<application ... >
<activity
android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" ... >
...
</activity>

Change what item has focus on startup. Remove focus from EditText

I have a LinearLayout and an associated Activity. In my view there is an EditText's box and a bunch of Buttons. When I start the application, focus goes immediately to the EditTexts box and the soft keyboard comes up. Is there a way to avoid this so that it just comes up with nothing selected and no soft keyboard popping up? I have tried findViewById().clearFocus() and requestFocus() on different views, but nothing seems to work.
Change your Activity settings in manifest like below:
<activity
android:name=".MyActivity"
android:windowSoftInputMode="stateHidden">
</activity>
