I have created navigation drawer. I tried to create drawer and navigation view below the toolbar. But It shows more gap before first menu of navigation view. I want to reduce this gap. Any solution for this?
Layout main:
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
android:orientation="vertical">
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary"/>
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:id="#+id/nav_drawer"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true">
<!-- Real content goes here -->
<FrameLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:id="#+id/nav_contentframe"
android:background="#android:color/background_light"
android:layout_below="#+id/toolbar"/>
<!-- The navigation drawer -->
<android.support.design.widget.NavigationView
android:id="#+id/nav_view"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:fitsSystemWindows="false"
app:menu="#menu/nav_menu"
android:background="#android:color/background_light"
android:gravity="top"
android:foregroundGravity="top"
android:weightSum="0" />
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
</LinearLayout>
How to solve this?
Thank you.
Try to add -PaddingTopValue to NavigationMenuView not to navigationView.
navigationView = (NavigationView) findViewById(R.id.nav_view);
// navigationView.setPadding(0, -10, 0, 0); // not work
((NavigationMenuView)navigationView.getChildAt(0)).setPadding(0, -10, 0, 0);
Use header attribute for the Navigation view and set a layout for the header.Now you can adjust accordingly in the headerlayout itself.

I have been trying to draw the NavigationView header below the status bar, but it stays behind the status bar.
I have already set the property android:fitsSystemWindows="true" for both my DrawerLayout as well as my NavigationView, but to no avail.
Here's the XML

I had the same issue, on your NavigationView set fitsSystemWindows to false, leave rest as is.
From what I understood from API >= 21 NavigationView goes behind status bar
Did you try to setFitsSystemWindows to false on the header View?
If you did and it did not work you can set a padding top to your View manually by observing the onApplyWindowInsetsListener on the header View or on the NavigationView:
ViewCompat.setOnApplyWindowInsetsListener(headerView) { view, insets ->
view.setPadding(0, insets.systemWindowInsetTop, 0, 0)
insets
}
Did you try adding android:fitsSystemWindows="true" to the root of your header layout? This worked for me.

Hi, how can I put a Toolbar within this layout?
This layout for Navigation Drawer.
I've tried some code but still not working.
1. Under FrameLayout: Toolbar did not appear.
2. Below FrameLayout: Toolbar appear but content did not display.
3. Have DrawerLayout in a LinearLayout but my fragment seems didn't work well.
Thank you in advance.
Let me try to explain.
Android draws Views from top to down so; A-B-C- are you 3 respective Views in your DrawerLayout. now A being the Toolbar is drawn first with params width fit-to-the-overallwidth and height fit the content itself, B is drawn with width fit-to-the-overallwidth and height fit-to-the-overallheight, etc etc. that means your FrameLayout is drawn second in the drawing successions and on top of your Toolbar but since its covered you do not see that it is there, if you bring it below, your Toolbar is drawn second in succession hence you see it.
i hope you can deduct a solution from it now.
Have the toolbar in another layout which would be your main content view
<!-- The main content view -->
<LinearLayout
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
>
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
android:background="#color/octo"/>
<!-- As the main content view, the view below consumes the entire
space available using match_parent in both dimensions. -->
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/container"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" >
</FrameLayout>
</LinearLayout>
Try this :
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
tools:context=".main_drawer">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical"
>
<include
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
layout="#layout/tool_bar"
/>
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/container"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
</FrameLayout>
<fragment android:id="#+id/navigation_drawer"
android:layout_width="#dimen/navigation_drawer_width"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:name="am.octogr.app.octocopy.NavigationDrawerFragment"
tools:layout="#layout/main_drawer_listview" />
<!-- Your Content -->
</LinearLayout>
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
with a separate tool_bar.xml :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
android:background="#color/octo"
android:elevation="6dp"
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize">
</android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar>
Don't forget to Initialize your Toolbar and set it as the ActionBar:
toolbar = (Toolbar) findViewById(R.id.toolbar);
setSupportActionBar(toolbar);
With a minSdkVersion of 14
Try this. It works fine for me.
Use this XML for your drawer activity.

you can find recent documentation about it on appbar.
They missed to include some code to make it work, here they are :
public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
MenuInflater inflater = getMenuInflater();
inflater.inflate(R.menu.menu, menu);
return true;
}
where R.menu.menu is your xml file in your project's res/menu/ directory. Paste above code on your activity which implement the Toolbar.

From documentation
To use a DrawerLayout, position your primary content view as the first child with a width and height of match_parent. Add drawers as child views after the main content view and set the layout_gravity appropriately. Drawers commonly use match_parent for height with a fixed width.

</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
Ok. Let me make the things simple and clear here.
What is DrawerLayout?https://developer.android.com/reference/android/support/v4/widget/DrawerLayout.html
DrawerLayout
Acts as a top-level container for window content that allows for
interactive "drawer" views to be pulled out from the edge of the
window. Drawer positioning and layout is controlled using the android:layout_gravity
attribute on child views corresponding to which side of the view you
want the drawer to emerge from: left or right. (Or start/end on
platform versions that support layout direction.) To use a
DrawerLayout, position your primary content view as the first child with a width
and height of match_parent. Add drawers as child views after the main content view and set the
layout_gravity appropriately. Drawers commonly use match_parent for height with a fixed width.
What is DrawerLayout?, In Simple words:
The layout supported by Android that allows you to have an overlay screen, called as drawer, over your main screen.
DrawerLayout needs childviews to work, similar to the LinearLayout and RelativeLayout.
The childview must have either of the property set
android:layout_gravity="start" OR android:layout_gravity="left"
DrawerLayout uses this childView to know from where to start showing the Drawer i.e. From Left to Right or Right to
Left. There are countries where the text is read from Right to Left.
Techie Stuff:
EVENT#1: ActionBarDrawerToggle.java is set as the drawer listener for the DrawerLayout
DrawerLayout mDrawerLayout = (DrawerLayout) findViewById(R.id.drawerLayout);
ActionBarDrawerToggle mDrawerToggle = new ActionBarDrawerToggle(this, mDrawerLayout,
toolbar,R.string.navigation_drawer_open,
R.string.navigation_drawer_close)
mDrawerLayout.setDrawerListener(mDrawerToggle);
EVENT#2: The user clicks on the Toolbar.navigationIcon that calls the toggle() function
ActionBarDrawerToggle.java (android-sdk\sources\android-22\android\support\v7\app\ActionBarDrawerToggle.java)
private void toggle() {
if (mDrawerLayout.isDrawerVisible(GravityCompat.START)) {
mDrawerLayout.closeDrawer(GravityCompat.START);
} else {
mDrawerLayout.openDrawer(GravityCompat.START);
}
}
Gravity.java (android-sdk\sources\android-22\android\view\Gravity.java)
/** Push object to x-axis position at the start of its container,
not changing its size.*/
public static final int START = RELATIVE_LAYOUT_DIRECTION | Gravity.LEFT;
EVENT#3: Toggle() function calls the mDrawerLayout.openDrawer(Gravity.START)
DrawerLayout.java (support-v4-22.1.1.jar library)
/*** Open the specified drawer by animating it out of view. **
#param gravity Gravity.LEFT to move the left drawer or Gravity.RIGHT
for the right. * GravityCompat.START or GravityCompat.END may also
be used. */
public void openDrawer(#EdgeGravity int gravity) {
final View drawerView = findDrawerWithGravity(gravity);
if (drawerView == null) {
throw new IllegalArgumentException("No drawer view found with gravity " +
gravityToString(gravity));
}
openDrawer(drawerView);
}
EVENT#4: If no childView of the DrawerLayout is set with the layout_gravity="start” or left the No drawer view found with gravity LEFT is thrown.
Solution:
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true">
<!--This will appear when the drawer is closed (default view)-->
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical">
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary" />
</LinearLayout>
<!-- This will appear when the drawer is opened -->
<!-- the property,android:layout_gravity, is used internally to identify imageView as the view to be displayed when the drawer is opened -->
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/imageView"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height=" match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="left"
android:background="#drawable/img_shree_ganesha" />
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
I hope that helps. Happy Coding…
The "Android Drawer" needs to be a direct child node of the "DrawerLayout".
In your example above (re: original question example), you only have a single direct child node under "DrawerLayout" ("LinearLayout"), and no drawer view after it.
Move your drawer view out of your LinearLayout and place it after it.
in my case, because DrawerLayout attr: tools:openDrawer="start"
i added android:layout_gravity="start" for the second element
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:openDrawer="right"
tools:context=".map.MapFragment">
<include layout="#layout/fragment_map" />
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/content_frame"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" />
<android.support.design.widget.NavigationView
android:id="#+id/nav_view"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="right"
android:background="#color/white"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:menu="#menu/drawer_view"
app:headerLayout="#layout/drawer_nav_header"/>
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
add
android:layout_gravity="start"
to NavigationView
like this
<com.google.android.material.navigation.NavigationView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
app:headerLayout="#layout/drawer_menu"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:foregroundGravity="right"
android:id="#+id/nv">
<include layout="#layout/drawer_menu"/>
</com.google.android.material.navigation.NavigationView>
Are you using right to left(RTL) layout? Setting gravity left on RTL layout would throw this exception. This can be fixed by setting gravity start instead of left
I solve this problem like this :
XML :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<androidx.drawerlayout.widget.DrawerLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
android:layoutDirection="rtl"
tools:openDrawer="end"
>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical">
<include
layout="#layout/toolbar_main"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
<include layout="#layout/content_main" />
</LinearLayout>
<com.google.android.material.navigation.NavigationView
android:id="#+id/navigationView"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:layoutDirection="rtl"
android:background="#color/white"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:headerLayout="#layout/nav_header_main"
app:menu="#menu/menu_drawer" />
</androidx.drawerlayout.widget.DrawerLayout>
AND IN JAVA:
if (mDrawerLayout != null && mDrawerLayout.isDrawerOpen(GravityCompat.END)) {
mDrawerLayout.closeDrawer(GravityCompat.END);
}
I hope this helps someone!
You should use the same gravity in DrawerLayout and NavigationView: for example: tools:openDrawer="right"in DrawerLayout tag and android:layout_gravity="right" in NavigationView tag
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:openDrawer="right"
tools:context=".map.MapFragment">
<include layout="#layout/fragment_map" />
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/content_frame"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" />
<android.support.design.widget.NavigationView
android:id="#+id/nav_view"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="right"
android:background="#color/white"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:menu="#menu/drawer_view"
app:headerLayout="#layout/drawer_nav_header"/>
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No drawer view found with gravity LEFT
SOLUTION
Assign a layout_gravity = "start" or "left" attribute to one of your DrawerLayout child view if your drawer layout already have a child view. OR
Simply create a child view inside your DrawerLayout View and give it a layout_gravity = "start" or "left" attribute.
for example
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:id="#+id/mDrawer_Layout"
tools:context="com.rad5.matdesign.MainActivity">
<android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
tools:openDrawer="start">
<!-- Notice that here an image view as a child of the Drawer layout was -->
<!-- given a layout_gravity="start" -->
<ImageView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_gravity="start"/>
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
<android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout
android:id="#+id/appBar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:theme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Dark.ActionBar">
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary"/>
<android.support.design.widget.TabLayout
android:id="#+id/tabs"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
</android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout>
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/viewpager"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
app:layout_behavior="#string/appbar_scrolling_view_behavior" />
</android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
<android.support.design.widget.NavigationView
android:id="#+id/nav_view"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:headerLayout="#layout/nav_header"
app:menu="#menu/menu_navigation_items" />
</android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
The error fixed after replacing
<fragment
android:id="#+id/fragmentContainerView"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:name="com.example.MyFragment"/>
with

I am implementing Material Design into my app that has a navigation drawer. Amongst all the differing implementations of the Nav. Drawer and Toolbar with Material Design (see this post); I have chosen to keep the app feel similar to the ICS/Halo design and have the Nav Drawer slide out under the Toolbar. The problem is that the Toolbar dims with the shadow like the rest of the activity when the nav drawer is open. How would I keep the Toolbar from darkening? If you see the image in the post I linked above I am after #6, 3 or 5, but my looks more like #9 now.
Example (from post above):
What I'm after (no shadow on Toolbar):
What I currently get (Toolbar darkens when nav drawer is open):
Here is the code for my main activity's XML:
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
tools:context="com.funkhaus.navdrawer.app.MainActivity">
<!-- As the main content view, the view below consumes the entire
space available using match_parent in both dimensions. -->
<FrameLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<!-- We use a Toolbar so that our drawer can be displayed
in front of the action bar; Added for Material Design -->
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/my_awesome_toolbar"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary" />
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/container"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_marginTop="?attr/actionBarSize" />
</FrameLayout>
<fragment android:id="#+id/navigation_drawer"
android:layout_width="#dimen/navigation_drawer_width"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_marginTop="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:name="com.funkhaus.brewwerks.NavigationDrawerFragment" />
The notable part being that the <FrameLayout> whose ID is 'container' is where all my fragments are inflated, and its marginTop was set to the height of the Toolbar so its content would be below the Toolbar. Similarly, the Navigation Drawer fragment also has its marginTop set to the height of the Toolbar so it slides out below it.
Thanks to #alanv I fixed my issue.
My post above shows my activity_main.xml code; I simplified it to this, removing the Toolbar view and removing the marginTop formatting:
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
tools:context="com.funkhaus.navdrawer.app.MainActivity">
<!-- As the main content view, the view below consumes the entire
space available using match_parent in both dimensions. -->
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/container"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" />
<fragment android:id="#+id/navigation_drawer"
android:layout_width="#dimen/navigation_drawer_width"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:name="com.funkhaus.brewwerks.NavigationDrawerFragment" />
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
I created a toolbar.xml, which I now setContentView() on in my main Activity that <include>'s the activity_main.xml above:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical">
<!-- We use a Toolbar so that our drawer can be displayed
in front of the action bar; Added for Material Design -->
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/my_awesome_toolbar"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary" />
<include android:id="#+id/drawer_layout" layout="#layout/activity_main" />
</LinearLayout>
Finally, in my Activity's onCreate() I setContentView() on the toolbar.xml:
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.toolbar);
// Rest of code here....
You do it in the same xml like this, This is for underlying toolbar navigation like play store app design
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context="com.ccas.roadsideconnect.BaseFragmentActivity">
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
>
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/main_fragment_container"
android:layout_marginTop="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" />
<FrameLayout android:id="#+id/navigation_drawer"
android:layout_width="#dimen/navigation_drawer_width"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="start"
tools:layout="#layout/fragment_navigation_drawer" />
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical">
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="#drawable/img_actionbar_white_sm"
android:gravity="top"
android:minHeight="58.0dip"
app:popupTheme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Light"
app:theme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.ActionBar"
/>
</LinearLayout>
</FrameLayout>
The below code is for overlying toolbar navigation like Gmail APP design.
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context="com.ccas.roadsideconnect.BaseFragmentActivity">
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
>
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/main_fragment_container"
android:layout_marginTop="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" />
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical">
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="#drawable/img_actionbar_white_sm"
android:gravity="top"
android:minHeight="58.0dip"
app:popupTheme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Light"
app:theme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.ActionBar"
/>
</LinearLayout>
<FrameLayout android:id="#+id/navigation_drawer"
android:layout_width="#dimen/navigation_drawer_width"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="start"
tools:layout="#layout/fragment_navigation_drawer" />
</android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout>
</FrameLayout>
Using the new Toolbar of Android 5 the icons appear cut off!
I'm using a drawer Navigation and the new toolbar. Any suggestions?
It seems that something it's above the toolbar
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="30dp"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary">
</android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar>
Here it is the Drawer Layout
<android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical"
>
<include layout="#layout/toolbar"/>
<!-- The main content view -->
<FrameLayout
android:id="#+id/content_frame"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
/>
</LinearLayout>
<!-- The navigation drawer -->
<ListView android:id="#+id/left_drawer"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
android:layout_width="240dp"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="start"
android:choiceMode="singleChoice"
android:divider="#color/gray_light_divider_list_drawerNav"
android:dividerHeight="1dp"
android:background="#color/gray_light_background_list_drawerNav"
/>
Edit: Adding these two attributes in the toolbar
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize"
IT LOOKS TOO BIG
I added the toolbar twice, in the drawer navigation and also in the fragment itself
the height of the toolbar is to small. you should have your toolbar's minHeght as this
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize"
The normal height of the Toolbar is 56dp. Try setting the height to that, it should look normal.
