protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.location);
mMap = ((MapFragment) getFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.map)).getMap();
mMap.setMapType(GoogleMap.MAP_TYPE_NORMAL);
// mMap.moveCamera( CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLngZoom(new LatLng(36.755113, 3.058781) ,6) );
CameraUpdate center =
CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLng(new LatLng(36.755113,
3.058781));
CameraUpdate zoom = CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo((float) 5.4);
mMap.moveCamera(center);
mMap.animateCamera(zoom);
mMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
));

I want to show my current location using Google maps v2 from a fragment however the Google maps is not initializing on start up. When i run the application, it is nor crashing but the map is not showing my current location neither is it displaying anything. I have used this code on my activity and it is fully functional.
Below is my java code:
public class MapFragment extends Fragment implements LocationListener,GoogleApiClient.ConnectionCallbacks,
GoogleApiClient.OnConnectionFailedListener,OnMapReadyCallback {
SupportMapFragment mSupportMapFragment;
MapView mMapView;
Location mLastLocation;
Marker mCurrLocationMarker;
private MarkerOptions markerOptions;
protected GoogleApiClient mGoogleApiClient;
private LatLng latLng;
public GoogleMap mMap;
private Marker marker;
LocationRequest mLocationRequest;
private GoogleMap googleMap;
private TextView lastTrip, lastDeliveryText, lastDelivery, lastAmountText, lastAmount, kes,
todayTotal, totalDeliveryText, totalDelivery, totalAmount, totalAmountText;
#Override

first of all Chaeck permission in manifest
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"/>
then check method for current location
private GoogleMap.OnMyLocationChangeListener myLocationChangeListener = new GoogleMap.OnMyLocationChangeListener() {

}
}
};
then use
mMap.setOnMyLocationChangeListener(myLocationChangeListener);
and be patience map take laoding time depend on you network speed
comment if any query
First check your permissions and your google api key in your manifest
Your xml layout must be something like this without any thing else:
. <fragment xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:map="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/map"
android:name="com.google.android.gms.maps.SupportMapFragment"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context="com.isg_biz.isg_tracking.MainActivity" />
You have to implement OnMapReadyCallback, then
your code should be something like this in onCreate() :
SupportMapFragment mapFragment = (SupportMapFragment) getSupportFragmentManager()
.findFragmentById(R.id.map);
mapFragment.getMapAsync(this);
Do not to copy and past the same xml code literally you have to change (tools : .....) to same that exist in your xml

I used a Fragment implements LocationListener and i tried to get my current location , but i can't get it successfully. Do i miss something ?
public class TrafficInformation extends Fragment implements LocationListener{
private MapView mapView;
private GoogleMap googleMap;
private double myLatitude,myLongitude;
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.traffic_information_fragment, container, false);
mapView = (MapView) view.findViewById(R.id.mapview);
mapView.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
mapView.onResume();
try {
MapsInitializer.initialize(getActivity().getApplicationContext());
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
mapView.getMapAsync(new OnMapReadyCallback() {
#Override
public void onMapReady(GoogleMap mMap) {
googleMap = mMap;
//part of android 6.0 permission
int flag = ActivityCompat.checkSelfPermission(getActivity(), Manifest.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION);
if (flag != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED) {
ActivityCompat.requestPermissions(getActivity(), new String[]{Manifest.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION}, 1);
} else {
googleMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
}
// For dropping a marker at a point on the Map
//i set my current location over here-------------------
LatLng sydney = new LatLng(myLatitude, myLongitude);
googleMap.addMarker(new MarkerOptions().position(sydney).title("Marker Title").snippet("Marker Description"));
//For zooming automatically to the location of the marker
CameraPosition cameraPosition = new CameraPosition.Builder().target(sydney).zoom(16).build();
googleMap.animateCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.newCameraPosition(cameraPosition));
}
});
return view;
}
i try to get it from this function:
#Override
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
myLatitude=location.getLatitude();
myLongitude=location.getLongitude();
}
i can't get myLatitude and myLongitude location , why?
any help would be grateful.
You are not calling
LocationServices.FusedLocationApi.requestLocationUpdates(
mGoogleApiClient, mLocationRequest, this)
You are only calling
googleMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
This don't request for location updates... just set a pin on your position on the map.
Check here to see how to request current location:
https://developer.android.com/training/location/receive-location-updates.html
I made a code.
In this code, when i click a map, there will be a marker on clicked point.
This is my Code
public class MapsActivity extends FragmentActivity implements OnMapReadyCallback {
private GoogleMap mMap;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_maps);
SupportMapFragment mapFragment = (SupportMapFragment) getSupportFragmentManager()
.findFragmentById(R.id.map);
mapFragment.getMapAsync(this);
}
#Override
public void onMapReady(final GoogleMap googleMap) {
mMap = googleMap;
if (ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(this, Manifest.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
== PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED) {
mMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
} else {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "oh, no", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
googleMap.setOnMapClickListener(new GoogleMap.OnMapClickListener() {
#Override
public void onMapClick(LatLng point) {
String lat = String.valueOf(point.latitude);
String lng = String.valueOf(point.longitude);
MarkerOptions marker = new MarkerOptions().position(
new LatLng(point.latitude, point.longitude)).title("ok");
mMap.addMarker(marker);
}
});
}
}
Question :
What i want is that when i click SetMylocationEnable button, there also added a new marker. And because i want marker is only one in whole map, another marker that has been in the map before is to be removed. How can i do it? Would you teach me?
You can see what button i saying is, in picture. (picture is from : Enable my location icon Googlemap v2)
mMap.setOnMyLocationButtonClickListener(new OnMyLocationButtonClickListener() {
#Override
public boolean onMyLocationButtonClick() {
Location location = getLocation();
MarkerOptions marker = new MarkerOptions().position(
new LatLng(location.getLatitude(), location.getLongitude())).title("ok");
mMap.addMarker(marker);
return true;
}
});
private Location getLocation() {
LocationManager locationManager = (LocationManager)
getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE);
Criteria criteria = new Criteria();
return locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(locationManager
.getBestProvider(criteria, false));
}
keep a reference to the marker, if the reference is null then create the marker as you have done, if it is not, then edit the marker and change its location
public class MainActivity extends FragmentActivity{
private GoogleMap mMap;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}
#Override
protected void onResume() {
super.onResume();
setUpMapIfNeeded();
}
private void setUpMapIfNeeded() {
if (mMap == null) {
// Try to obtain the map from the SupportMapFragment.
mMap = ((SupportMapFragment) getSupportFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.map))
.getMap();
// Check if we were successful in obtaining the map.
if (mMap != null) {
setUpMap();
}
}
}
private void setUpMap() {
mMap.addMarker(new MarkerOptions().position(new LatLng(0, 0)).title("Marker"));
//mMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
}
}
This is my Activity.
I want to start my app with my current location. I looked for some codes but none have the answer that I want. Can someone tell me what I should add?
Did you try:
LatLng latLng = new LatLng(location.getLatitude(), location.getLongitude());
CameraUpdate cameraUpdate = CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLngZoom(latLng, 10);
map.animateCamera(cameraUpdate);
Please use Android's LocationManager to get Lat/Lng with respect to your current services. Please refer to this answer that explains the usage of LocationManager.
After getting a Location object from the LocationManager, use the lat/lng to position the map like this.
Google finally added a callback for location changes in the Android API v2! However, I cannot intuitively get it to work, and Google does not have much documentation for it. Has anyone gotten it to work? What more do I need?
public class ... extends SupportMapFragment implements GoogleMap.OnMyLocationChangeListener {
GoogleMap map;
LocationManager locationManager;
String provider;
#Override
public void onActivityCreated(android.os.Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onActivityCreated(savedInstanceState);
map = getMap();
if (map != null) {
Criteria criteria = new Criteria();
criteria.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE);
locationManager =(LocationManager)getActivity().getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE);
provider = locationManager.getBestProvider(criteria, false);
}
}
#Override
public void onResume() {
super.onResume();
while(map == null) {
map = getMap();
map.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
map.setOnMyLocationChangeListener(this);
}
}
#Override
public void onMyLocationChange(Location loc) {
//implementation
}
}
This is how I do to navigate to the center of the map when we get the first location-update.
my class header:
public class FragActivity extends SherlockFragmentActivity implements OnMyLocationChangeListener
private GoogleMap mMap;
my mMap-setup:
if (mMap == null) {
// Try to obtain the map from the SupportMapFragment.
mMap = customMapFragment.getMap();
// Check if we were successful in obtaining the map.
if (mMap != null)
setUpMap();
}
setUpMap-method:
private void setUpMap() {
mMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
mMap.setOnMyLocationChangeListener(this);
}
and my onlocationchange:
#Override
public void onMyLocationChange(Location lastKnownLocation) {
CameraUpdate myLoc = CameraUpdateFactory.newCameraPosition(
new CameraPosition.Builder().target(new LatLng(lastKnownLocation.getLatitude(),
lastKnownLocation.getLongitude())).zoom(6).build());
mMap.moveCamera(myLoc);
mMap.setOnMyLocationChangeListener(null);
}
Works like a charm
