buttons disappearing from a linear layout - android

Everything looks at it should on a large screen (tablet): I have the first line with the edittext and two buttons, on the line below I have the other button, and below it I have the scrollview (with the table).
When I switch to normal screen (smartphone), only the first line is appearing, the rest not being visible.
What could the solution be?


In Small Screen device there are problem with margin you set, try to
remove android:layout_marginBottom="400dp" from your ParentLayout and manage your Layout according them


At the second linear_layout (that have horizontal orientation) all of your views, have match parent width that cause non of them are visible. I think it's what you want:

I have absolutely no clue about what is the mistake I am doing here??I am just using a main relative layout
OtherWeatherInfo_main and within that I am embedding two relative layouts to represent the two weather attributes. #dimen/weather_space is 145 dp.I am unable to align the two relative layout within the main layout equally.Any help will be appreciated.

Wrap the two RelativeLayouts inside a LinearLayout with horizontal orientation and then assign both the RelativeLayouts equal weight.
In general, something like this:

How to mirror text position?

I'm trying to lay some text out on left and right that have a mirroring position as below.
What's happening here is that the last row in the right column ("Some more text") is the widest so it pushes the two rows above further to the right. For the sake of symmetry, the left column is pushed further to the left. The text values are supposed to be dynamic. Does anyone know how the layouts should be designed?

You can achieve something like that by nesting LinearLayouts. The outer LinearLayout would have an orientation=horizontal, and the two inner LinearLayout an orientation of vertical with each having a layout_weight=1 and the second (right) LinearLayout would also have gravity="right".

I think using a RelativeLayout and aligning the TextViews to the left/right is a good approach. Like this:

how to align text vertically center in android

I have arabic text, therefore I set gravity to right in order to start text from right side. Text starts from right now. But another issue is text starts to render from the top of the page. But I need to vertically center the text.
Although I tried several variations I couldnt make it vertically center.

Your TextView Attributes need to be something like,
<TextView ...
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:gravity="center_vertical|right" ../>
Now, Description why these need to be done,
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
Makes your TextView to match_parent or fill_parent if You don't want to be it like, match_parent you have to give some specified values to layout_height so it get space for vertical center gravity. android:layout_width="match_parent" necessary because it align your TextView in Right side so you can recognize respect to Parent Layout of TextView.
Now, its about android:gravity which makes the content of Your TextView alignment. android:layout_gravity makes alignment of TextView respected to its Parent Layout.
Update:
As below comment says use fill_parent instead of match_parent. (Problem in some device.)

The problem is the padding of the font on the textview. Just add to your textview:
android:includeFontPadding="false"

just use like this to make anything to center

Try to put android:gravity="center_vertical|right" inside parent LinearLayout else as you are inside RelativeLayout you can put android:layout_centerInParent="true" inside your scrollView.

In relative layout you need specify textview height:
android:layout_height="100dp"
Or specify lines attribute:
android:lines="3"

Unable to Align the Views

This is the part of the Code of a very long Layout.So posting of whole code was of no use.
I want to align the RED circle.Both the positions are shown in the RED colored circles.
The ParentLayout of whole activity is a RelativeLayout but has nothing to do with this.

Not sure if you are satisfied with that kind of layout.

If this whole thing is inside a RelativeLayout, remove the outer LinearLayout (moving margins and such to the first child LinearLayout as required), and change the second child LinearLayout - the one with 5dp padding - to have
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
If you don't want to do this and have to keep the outer LinearLayout for some reason, move
android:layout_marginTop="20dp"
from the parent LinearLayout to the first child, and set layout_width of the second child to fill_parent, and add android:gravity="right" to it.

The code you provided does not show where you have specified the properties of RED text "here". You could probably just add it as another element in your relative layout where you specify the availability and stock which would align it with the preceding text.

I would suggest wrapping in another linear layout which will enable you to position the text above the picture as shown in the code below.

problem in table layout

popup: the area betwwen Close button and the border line is not wide enough in Portrait Mode.
Having tested handset in Portrait Mode.
Send SMS or MMS to the tested handset.
Observe the popup in the area between Close button and the border line.
Actual result: the area betwwen Close button and the border line is not wide enough. View

Expected result: the area betwwen Close button and the border line should similar to Reply
button to the border line.
Cannot re-produce in the case of Landscape Mode..

I would try a horizontal LinearLayout rather than the table view for the 3 buttons on the bottom. Set the width for each button to 0dip and the layout_weight to 1.
