Can anyone tell me a simpler way of making google play store icon visible on emulator. I have tried multiple solutions but none have worked.
you have 2 options:
Install it on the default android emulator. You can see an answer in here
Use Genymotion (which is an awesome and free for personal use Emulator) and install google play store easily by following this guide.
I personally use Genymotion in my projects and it works amazing and also provide you a lot of targets (e.g. Samsung, LG etc.).

I am trying to automate an android application using Robotium. I am trying to find the id's of the elements using Hierarchyviewer on the emulator. When I launch my app on the emulator it says "Update Google Play Services" and app closes. I tried all the solutions to updated Google Play Services on Emaultor- NO USE. Tried with AVD - Google API 4.2.2 as well.
Please let me how do I proceed from here.
As pointed out by GrIsHu you should be able to follow what is on that page. If you really cannot get that to work, I might suggest trying to use an alternative emulator Genymotion This makes it really easy to get new emulators that run fast and also gives you a few extra features.
I found Google Keep from the Google Play on my device.
However, after reinstalling the Android system, I can not find Google keep from the Google Play and it shows that "Your device is not compatible with this version"
I am very confused for this searching result while the same device ran well with this app before.
I can understand there are several ways to install this app on my device again.
A couple of questions confuse me..
How can I check the features that this app may change in the new version? This may cause the reason why I can not find it in the Google Play.
Will that be any possibility to modify my device source code in order to find this app on the Google Play in my device?
Thanks
I just found that shouldnt the permission(feature) issue because I can find and install other apps which require more permissions than Google Keep.
The permissions that have anything to do with hardware are:
record audio (needs microphone)
precise location (GPS)
control vibration
If your phone has these features and runs Android 4.0 and up, it should be compatible.
I see two possible reasons:
After reinstalling you have an older version of Android. If this is the case, check for updates and after updating it should work
Your device model may have been blacklisted because of compatibility issues. In this case, Google may find a solution in the future and Keep will become available.
You can install Keep anyway, sideloading it. You just have to download the .apk from somewhere (Google it and be careful for malware).
Is it possible to install the Google Play store app on an Android 4.2.2 AVD?
Searching stackoverflow I've come across a lot of questions asking this, but many of the answers are incomplete or are for older versions of Android.
I followed the instructions here and my AVD does have Google Play Services installed. However, it lacks the Google Play app. Is there a way to install it on an AVD? If not, why has Google imposed this limitation?
I'd like to be able to simulate updating system apps on a virtual device. If there's a way to accomplish this without using Google Play, that would solve my problem as well.
I am working on a project that we use internally in the company. We have a single target device and at this time and that is the Google Nexus 7.
I need to find the quickest and least painful way to update the
android OS on every one of them (we are talking about a couple of
hundred of devices).
I am also looking for suggestions on how to distribute the app
version and updates afterwards. Updates are not something i want to
do through my app, that is implementing some code that will check
and download updates.
I already tried TestFlight which i feel takes too long to setup on each device,
Also tried Deploying through the Google Play beta program but the updates take too much time to show up, plus the setup is kinda wierd (i feel this is the best way to do it). i know of the google play enterprise apps distribution, but i need to have a google account linked to google apps and a developer account so i haven't tried that still.
I also was looking into https://www.push-link.com/ which seems interesting. Any alternative?
Any suggestions are really appreciated!
Thanks
I have some functionality for rating my app and for viewing/installing other apps I have on the marketplace that I need to test in the android avd emulator. To do this I need to have the latest google play apk installed but I am unsure of the official location to download this from so I can install it on to the emulator.
Lot's of the sources I have found are for file sharing sites and out of date apks and I would be grateful for a link to the official apk. For some reason best known to themselves I don;t seem to be ble to get it from the main google play site. this is most confusing!
Or is there another way to test market app functionality on an emulator?
what you are looking for is: "market://details?id=" + APP_PNAME
I strongly recommend using the android code snippet app rater
good luck
First, this is not a programming question. Second, there is no such thing as an 'official download location'. The Play Store application is only available on licensed devices. Even if you pulled the apk from your device, it won't run on the emulator as is, since it requires other components as well. So, test on a real device if you need access to the Market/Play store.
