How can I use RelativeLayout to align buttons to the right of an ImageView

I'm struggling with a simple relative layout. It is supposed to have an image on the left and a column of other views on the right. The vertical alignment is correct but the horizontal alignment is very puzzling with the buttons on the left of the image even though I have asked for them to be on the right.
Can anyone explain:
why this happens,
how to achieve the arrangement I want.

You are putting those controls (TextView, Button) on the right side of the ImageView with id ivImage.
However, your layout does not contain any ImageView with that id (but has one with ivLove).
The controls appear on the left because that's the default docking for views inside a RelativeLayout.
Try updating your references (replace each "ivImage" with "ivLove".
Note -- if you use Eclipse, that the reason you didn't get compile errors for this is that you probably have an ImageView with android:id="ivImage" somewhere in your project. Enabling (and maybe updating) lint will help you filter these kinds of issues.

How to create custom image view like custom list view?

I want to make one application which contains multiple choice question. Each question has three option. I want to show that option with one background image. And also want to change the color of that image randomly for each question. How can i do that?
It is possible to create list view by putting differnt background image for each row?

Yes. Take a look at articles on the internet that back a listview with a custom adapter and a custom view. This is done from the getView() method and there is no shortage of examples / tutorials out there.

Designing simple android layout?

I'm having a little trouble laying out my android app. I didn't plan it out very well, and i'm not new to java, but im new to these android xml layouts. What i have is a horizontal linear layout parent, which contains two relative layouts. The right relative layout consists of a custom view (GridView) and under it i want 3 buttons. I've added one button (button1) to my xml file and it won't show up on screen as you can see. I'm thinking i need to set the size of my gridview some how? Its height is 2x its width. Or can i set it by pixels programatically at runtime?
I'm also thinking i sort of over complicated things at this point. Like i said i'm new to these weird layouts, im used to just using x and y offsets in .net. Maybe this could all be done in one relative layout instead of using two and nesting them inside a linear layout?

Also side note (unrelated), this is a project for experimentation and learning purposes but are there any legal copyright repercussions to making a tetris game and putting it on the play store?

Unable to specify the alignComponent for an ImageButton

I'm trying to set my TextView to the left of an ImageButton, but I can't seems to find this option.
I was expecting to use something like android:layout_alignLeft, but this option is missing.
I've tried to google the issue, but couldn't find any relative results.
Without it my TextView overlaps the ImageButton and I want to avoid it.

I think what you need is a RelativeLayout. You can specify your TextView to the left of your ImageView with it's specifications. Your code would look something like this:

The reason FrameLayout isn't working is because it's purpose is to overlay items on top of each other, which wouldn't work at all!
If that isn't what you're looking for, you could also use a TableLayout in which items are arranged in columns.

I am trying to create a chat bubble with some text.For this I am create Three Layoutouts,Inside of main Linear Layout I am using FramLayout,I am setting a 9-patch background To this Framlayout.Inside of Framlayout I am adding one more RelativeLayout where I am placing my three textViews and one imageView.but type long text it goes outside of FramLayout border.I don't know what I am doing wrong or what I am missing.When I am using small text it remain fit but with big text it goes out from even Background Border of FramLayout.In attachment I am showing my bubble and yahoo IM bubble.I am trying to create same like yahoo but with some different style.Please give me your suggestion.I try a lot with different ways but not get success.Thanks in advance . .

When creating your .9patch image, you also must specify a content area, which you define with the left, and bottom pixels. Check out this.
