I have got android sdk installed and set android_home. In fact I'm developing with ionic and everything is ok.
Now I want to test nativescript but I'm not able to configure it. I installed everything and I get the error:
You need to have Android SDK 22 or later and the latest Android Support Repository installed on your system.
I have android 23 version installed and also 19. I installed also 22 as I read in other pages that nativescript have a problem even if you have an upper version, but even with andorid 22 it doesn't work. Any ideas?
Which OS are you using? Have you installed also Android support repositories from SDK manager?
I have installed Android SDK tools from version 19 to 23, SDK platform-tools and SDK build-tools.

I have started learning android and i'm stuck at something.
I have installed android sdk api 22 and when i'm syncing it with gradle , the following error is popping up:
Failed to find target with hash string 'android-27' in: C:\Users\user
\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk
it says that it is missing android sdk api 27 but i have installed android sdk api 22
why is it not selecting the installed sdk
1.>Uninstall your android studio. remove all folders. and sdk from c drive.just remove all file folder related to android studio.
2.>Download latest android studio from android developer site using below link.

3.Install android studio from downloaded .exe file.
will work fine if android studio will install successfully.
android studio don't need sdk externally.
Check the app/build.gradle file, maybe you specified sdk version 27 on it, you can change it with api 22.
I installed cordova and all the required things. Now I have to choose in the Android Sdk Manager which packages I want to install. I want to make the App working for Android 4 and above. I have installed SDK Platform API 14 (ANDROID 4.0) and SDK Platform API 24 (ANDROID 7.0). Do I need more because I also want to cover all the version between this range?
Refer to this: cordova.apache.org/docs/en/latest/guide/platforms/android
I am receiving this error message while trying to run "cordova platform add android":
"Error: Please install Android target 19 (the Android newest SDK). Make sure you have the latest Android tools installed as well. Run "android" from your comm
and-line to install/update any missing SDKs or tools."
However, I have the SDK installed (SDK Tools 23.0.2, SDK Platform-tools 20, SDK Build-tools 19.1). I have my ANDROID_HOME set to "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk". This is the tail of the environment variable PATH on my computer:
"...;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_67\bin;C:\Program Files\Git\cmd;C:\Program Files\nodejs\;%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\npm;C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\tools;C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools;C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\build-tools;%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\npm;C:\Program Files\WinAnt\bin"
Can anyone clarify if I am doing something wrong here? How to make it work?
What I found out eventually is when Cordova asks for Android target 19, it does not mean Android SDK Revision 19. Rather it refers to the Android 4.4.2 which has an API level 19.
So installing the Android 4.4.2 from SDK manager was the solution.
On Google's website it states:
"If you're already using the Android SDK, you should update to the latest tools or platform using the Android SDK and AVD Manager"
The current version is 18 but when I run the SDK and AVD Manager, it never shows either version 17 or 18 as an available update. Any reason for this? I hate the thought of having to install the latest version from scratch.
Possible reasons for SDK Manager:
Unchecked Updates/New
Problems with connection, check Preferences in SDK Manager
BTW: current Android SDK Tools revision is 19
if you use windows, check that you user eclipse as administrator, that was my fault on updateing.
In the Android DSK Manager under "Installed Packages", I see things like:
SDK Platform Android 3.2
SDK Platform Android 3.1
SDK Platform Android 3.0
SDK Platform Android 2.3
SDK Platform Android 2.2
SDK Platform Android 2.1
SDK Platform Android 1.6
SDK Platform Android 1.5
Is it necessary to keep the older SDKs, if I am programming with the latest SDK?
No. You dont need older packages if you are sure about developing with latest packages.
You dont need to keep those packages which your application is not using. Generally you should keep those versions installed which your application is going to use. Like your application may use version from 8 to 10. So no need to keep lower than 8. So that depends on your application which version it will use.
Its too late but I would like to share my experience.
Yes, if you are using Instant Run and using SDK 21 or higher then you should keep SDK Platforms.
For Example, if have deleted the SDK Platform 22 and testing on Android 5.1 device or emulator then Android Studio will ask you to install SDK Platform if you want to use instant run else instant run will not work.
