ViewPager crashing on inflation - android

When opening the first screen of my app I'm having a crash. 150 of them actually (detected only one a single user) with Android 4.4.2 with device Samsung GT-N7100.
After trying in several devices I'm unable to replicate it...
My first clue was to search bugs in the Calligraphy lib, but according to similar bugs reported there, it is pointing to them but is a false "stack guilt line". It is probably something with the specific layout line so...

Since this appears to be a device-user specific bug, does anyone has a clue how to fix it?
Or at least why it's happening in the first place?


There is a probable chance of Samsung customized their UI, default android provided some views may not work for this device. Ideally OEMs should support by default android APIs. Is samsung provided any separate SDK for this device or not check. If provides verify the problem in their sdk.

Android: got InflateException and OutOfMemoryError

I have a simple Activity which shows an ImageView.
However, I sometimes receive bug report saying InflateException and OutOfMemoryError.
And those errors are pointing to the ImageView I have used.
I have made 4 different images for mdpi,hdpi,xhdpi,xxhdpi and used in ImageView.
File size of images: {6KB, 10KB, 14KB, 23KB}
Resolution of images: {192*192,288*288,384*384,576*576}
I believe the images is small enough that would not trigger OutOfMemoryError.
Does anyone know what is the problem?

i have Navigation Activity that holds different fragments when i start home
fragment which contains two(passenger and Driver) more fragments
inside it they are working perfectly..while running passenger
fragment i start an activity from this fragment in which i perform
some background task if it execute successfully then fragment also
works fine but if somehow background task failed and then that
activity crash and when i get back to that (passenger) fragment it

Are you trying to inflate a fragment... inside a fragment_layout?
Note: You cannot inflate a layout into a fragment when that layout includes a <fragment>. Nested fragments are only supported when added to a fragment dynamically.

NPE Error inflating class fragment: NavigationDrawerFragment

When I create a new navigation drawer activity in Android Studio, the basic example runs perfectly. I've changed a few lines to integrate Material Design and v4 - v7 support, and consequently the app breaks. I also included in some lines of basic code from Firebase that does a simple auth with Google+.
Starting the app returns a runtime exception, and "error inflating class fragment" message.
I'm guessing that the NPE is coming from the view not being inflated, but I have no idea how that is happening.

Subclassing LinearLayout

I have a problem trying to create a subclass of LinearLayout. I have a simple fragment with this layout

Now, I've stripped my problem to smallest case that reproduces the issue, so it looks like I'm not doing anything useful here, but the goal is for SmallRecordDetailsWidget to have a few simple member widgets and then do a bit of work with them. If I understand correctly as long as they would be defined within layout file that SmallRecordDetailsWidget's constructor inflates (as children of the root element) then they should also get inflated, so that I can later on get hold of them with findViewById(...).

As noted in the code I posted, in the constructor of SmallRecordDetailsWidget I inflate layout R.layout.small_record_details, where small_record_details.xml is the xml that defines the widget (while com.lexues.android.hari_prototype.views.SmallRecordDetailsWidget is the name of its root tag).
And just to make my goals clear - I want to create a widget that contains a few others. I hope to define all of them in the xml for that 'compound widget', then in costructor get references to child widgets, so that client can do things like SmallRecordDetailsWidget.titleTextWidget.setText(...), etc.

Reading your question it seems your are inflating the wrong layout in SmallRecordDetailsWidget's constructor.
There, you should NOT use the tag
<com.lexues.android.hari_prototype.views.SmallRecordDetailsWidget>
You use that tag when you are inflating/instatiating the custom layout from your fragment, but NOT when you are inflating a small view hierarchy and attach it to your custom layout. The view hierarchy should not contain that tag, try putting something like a TextView in layout/small_record_details.xml

My problem was that I used com.lexues.android.hari_prototype.views.SmallRecordDetailsWidget as the name of the root element of the layout which defined my custom widget. I should had simply used LinearLayout or any other layout as desired. Which makes sense come to think of it, otherwise I'm referencing the element before finishing defining it. Silly me.
