Android Studio app runs only after changing code - android

After starting to use Android Studio 2.0, when I open old projects first time executing "Run App" crashes app on Android device but when I comment out every code on MainActivity I can "Run App" without problem, then I just uncomment lines I've already commented and "Run App" again and it works flawlessly too...
So I need to do that three step after a while but as I said I only comment and uncomment code blocks, so eventually code that did not work at first time starts to run and I looked for logs before and after doing these, and before commenting there is only two log lines and then no output occurs in logcat
09-29 23:42:15.248 8328-8328/sparkgoattendance.bsobe.com.attendance I/art: Late-enabling -Xcheck:jni
09-29 23:42:15.439 8328-8328/sparkgoattendance.bsobe.com.attendance W/System: ClassLoader referenced unknown path: /data/app/sparkgoattendance.bsobe.com.attendance-1/lib/arm
and I get these log lines in logcat at top after doing commenting uncommenting thing, so I don't know if it is related to my problem.
I suspect it is a problem about ART and wait for your help, thank you

In Run/Debug Configuration, there is Miscellaneous tab. There is an option called Skip installation if APK has not changed. Uncheck that option.
It sounds like APK already existed and for some reason,it just installed that APK from before. If you uncheck it, it will create a new one each time. This is why when you commented and uncommented the code, it worked. Because it created a new APK.

art_sigsegv_fault crash in Android Studio while debugging native code

The problem
I'm trying to debug native (c++) code that is called from Java code (MainActivity.OnCreate) in simple android application. I'm using lldb for debugging and build the native code using cmake.
The debug works as expected until I try to step into native language function, then one of these happens:
1. The debugger steps into the function and allows making further steps, but there is no cursor, no normal stack trace, and no variable watches. The only thing in stack trace is the name of the cpp file and memory adress (instruction pointer maybe?) that increases with every step that I take. It looks to me as no debug symbols were loaded.
2. The step suceeds as it should and for a brief moment I can catch a glimpse of correct stack trace. But then the lldb crashes, the stack changes and the cursor is at art_sigsegv_fault. When I continue, I simply get a message that debugger was disconnected. The app continues to run as it should.
Additionally, I've noticed that at the moment of crash the debugger attempts to collect data from variables and never actually suceeds. The variables that are successfully resolved are a JNI pointer and jobject, while the others are jstring.
Miliseconds before the crash:
After the crash:
What I've tried
Made sure that symbols are not stripped from .so files, by adding
packagingOptions{
doNotStrip "**/*.so"
}
Made sure that CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS have -O0 -ggdb in them (no code optimization, debug compile)
Made sure that in Project Structure there is debug build, with properties Debuggable, Jni Debuggable, and Renderscript Debuggable set to true.
I believe that I've tried all the possible options that I've found here, hence a new question that may seem repetitive at first.

Issue with projectfolder called (AndroidProjects)?

I have a wired issue. If i set up a folder called AndroidProjects and put my project in there... Android-Studio fails with gradle.
one error is:
IllegalStateException:
PsiFile not parsed for file D:/AndroidProjects/MyApplication/settings.gradle.
Wait until onPsiFileAvailable() is called.
sometimes it says that gradle has a fatal error....
if i set up my projectlocation to e.g. andropro everyting is working fine.
My thoughts:
may problems with 2 big letters in projectfoldername
may foldername is to long
may android or project are registered words in android-studio
Is there a knowen issue using foldernames like i did above?
couldn't find anything on the net.

Can't native debug

I was able to use the native debug functionality until recently. I've been coding in java and went back to the native code but now I can't native debug. It will run and with the previously working debug config but I get a Null Pointer error on launch right when it would be attaching:
'Launching [debug config]' has encountered a problem.
An internal error occurred during 'Launching [debug config]'.
java.lang.NullPointerException
The app will run on the device, but won't hit breakpoints. Anyone seen this, it's driving me nuts?
Turns out this was due to the manifest "debuggable" being set to false. When you don't run native it tells you exactly that. With native, you get the absolutely useless error. I'll put in an enhancement request.

Adding a breakpoint in Eclipse, causes Dalvik to crash

This is an interesting bug of Eclipse. I am using:
Version: Indigo Release
Build id: 20110615-0604
Out of nowhere today, I set a breakpoint in my android app on Eclipse. When it reaches the code, debug (dalvik JVM) aborts and crashes:
Tried to execute code in unprepared class (followed by the class name)
If I don't set the break point, it will run through with no problem. I have searched through Google but found nothing so far.
Another note, where I set this breakpoint does not matter, it could simply be the 1st line of onClick() function, or anywhere else. The moment the app "pauses" due to the breakpoint, it crashes.
I run into the same issue; for me, the problem was solved by removing all of the watched expressions I had set up in the debugger (one of them was causing the problem).
I run into the same issue when used watch expression with static method of this (unprepared) class.
I solved this issue by removing this expression from expressions list.
I solved this issue by removing an unused import package.
actually the error message is saying "tried to execute code in unprepared class" (followed by the class name)
I am not using that class but it is imported.
Simply remove the import, and it works fine ....

Cannot run Android application on emulator/device - activity doesn't exist?

When trying to run my application on the emulator I get an error from the activitymanager:
ActivityManager: Error type 3
My activity exists, is listed in the manifest (in fact, its the MAIN launcher activity).
Anyone know what this error means?
If you are running Eclipse try Projects-->Clean... and clean the project before running again.
i faced the same issue. I cleaned the project and removed the android:enabled=false in android manifest. This solved the issue.
Check "android:installLocation" in your AndroidManifest.xml.
"preferExternal" will cause the problem.
I got this error because I used invalid characters in my project name and Android didn't warned me about it so I had no idea that was the problem...
Example: "Thís ís íncorrect!"
nothing to worry about that it happens sometimes when activity manager unable to find activity of your app that means your target that is emulator is not started yet or may be because of following reason:
when you try to run your app on emulator you may be cancled in between building or forcefully closed your emulator. In that case when try to start emulator again it will sometimes not maximized.
now you have to restart your eclipse and then launch emulator and run your app now you will not face this type of error
Dont remember how I fixed this - most probably I wiped the local copy and re-checked out of svn.
ActivityManager: Error type 3
I don't know how true it is, but I used the same shared preferences file from another app..and got this error. I chose a new name for the shared preferences and the problem has gone away. It's working now
I had not enough space on my phone, that's why I had this problem.
So I cleaned it and go RUN )
I got this error when I mistakenly added a second application tag in my manifest as I was trying to add hardware acceleration to my app:
<application
android:hardwareAccelerated="true" />.
I added it above my actual application tag and I think this resulted in Android deploying an empty 'app' to my phone. It reported 'Installation success' in the logs and yet there was no launcher icon. It did appear, though, under Settings -> Apps but the only thing I could do there was to uninstall it. Hope this helps someone.
Thus, it seems there can be many reasons to see this error.
For those who can't fix it using the above mentioned methods:
In my case, i renamed the name of my activity (using F2 in Eclipse) and it is fixed.
