Share option not working for Marshmallow [android] - android

I fetch images from Json and display it in a gridview. On select an image, image enlarges to fullscreen and share option is available. As I click on share option, on phones above API 22, loading bar is not dismissing. It works well till Lollipop. Dont know why its not working in Marshmallow.
Here is the code
public void share(View view){
// Get access to the URI for the bitmap
pDialog = new ProgressDialog(Displaydemo.this);
pDialog.setMessage("Loading...");
pDialog.show();
niv1 = (NetworkImageView) findViewById(R.id.imgNetwork);
Uri bmpUri = getLocalBitmapUri(niv1);
if (bmpUri != null) {
pDialog.dismiss();
Intent shareIntent = new Intent();
shareIntent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, bmpUri);
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT,"share");
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT,Datas.Address );
shareIntent.setType("image/*");
startActivity(Intent.createChooser(shareIntent, "Share Image"));
}
}

Looks like you are facing mashmallow Runtime permission issue. please refer to this post Android 6: cannot share files anymore?
Also if are using the v4 Support Library u should use ShareCompat for sharing instead https://medium.com/google-developers/sharing-content-between-android-apps-2e6db9d1368b#.wnlh9s3n7

String path = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + File.separator + File.separator +file_name;
File file_ =new File(path);
private void shareFile( File file_) {
Intent intentShareFile = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
intentShareFile.setType(URLConnection.guessContentTypeFromName(file_.getName()));
intentShareFile.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM,
Uri.parse("file://"+file_.getAbsolutePath()));
startActivity(Intent.createChooser(intentShareFile, "Share File"));
}

I want To share Multiple Picture With Single Caption

I want to share multiple picture with single caption which is shown on one image not on all of them. But caption will show on every pic which is shared at one time.
Here is my code
private void pic_with_data() {
Intent shareIntent = new Intent();
shareIntent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.setPackage("com.whatsapp");
shareIntent.putParcelableArrayListExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, imageUriArray);
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, "Download this App");
shareIntent.setType("text/plain");
shareIntent.setType("image/jpeg");
shareIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_GRANT_READ_URI_PERMISSION);
try {
startActivity(Intent.createChooser(shareIntent, "Share Image!"));
startActivity(shareIntent);
} catch (android.content.ActivityNotFoundException ex) {
Toast.makeText(this, "Whatsapp have not been installed.", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
}
Use Intent.ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE instead of Intent.ACTION_SEND.
Intent intent = new Intent();
intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE);
intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT, "Here are some files.");
intent.setType("image/jpeg"); /* This example is sharing jpeg images. */
ArrayList<Uri> files = new ArrayList<Uri>();
for(String path : filesToSend /* List of the files you want to send */) {
File file = new File(path);
Uri uri = Uri.fromFile(file);
files.add(uri);
}
intent.putParcelableArrayListExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, files);
startActivity(intent);
Remember, Starting in API 24, sharing file URIs will cause a FileUriExposedException. To remedy this, you can either switch your compileSdkVersion to 23 or lower or you can use content URIs with a FileProvider.
I didn't had a chance to compile this but this should work
val files: ArrayList<Uri> = arrayListOf()
// add files here in `files` variable
startActivity(Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT)
.setType("image/*")
.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_ALLOW_MULTIPLE, true)
.putParcelableArrayListExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, files))

Instagram sharing issue: Always I get the message “Unable to load image”

I'm working on share functionality
I 've a problem with Instagram Share
Here is my code :
I'm trying share "account" image which is stored in "drawable" folder.This is just an example
try {
Intent shareIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.setType("image/*");
shareIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
Uri uri = Uri.parse("android.resource://com.example.swathi.booklender/drawable/account");
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, uri);
shareIntent.setPackage("com.instagram.android");
startActivity(shareIntent);
}catch (Exception e)
{
Toast.makeText(getActivity(),"No Activity available, install instagram",Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
e.printStackTrace();
}
How to I get rid of this problem?
You can't share drawable directly
First create a file from drawable then share it
Intent shareIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.setType("image/jpg");
File image = new File(getFilesDir(), "foo.jpg");
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.fromFile(image));
startActivity(Intent.createChooser(shareIntent, "Share image via"));

Share of Whatsapp and facebook along with text and image

I wanted to share my image to social site along with textlink and image , I am using below code , it does share Image but no text , Also I tried to set setype to "text/html" , it does not does what i need.
protected void onPostExecute(String args) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
Intent share = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
share.setType("image/jpeg");
share.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TITLE, "http://www.google.com");
share.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.parse("file://" + file.getAbsolutePath()));
startActivity(Intent.createChooser(share, "Share Image"));
pDialog.dismiss();
}
Give this a try
Uri imageUri = Uri.parse(Filepath);
Intent shareIntent = new Intent();
shareIntent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.setPackage("com.whatsapp");
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, "My sample image text");
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, imageUri);
shareIntent.setType("image/jpeg");
shareIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_GRANT_READ_URI_PERMISSION);
try {
startActivity(shareIntent);
} catch (android.content.ActivityNotFoundException ex) {
ToastHelper.MakeShortText("Kindly install whatsapp first");
}
PS: For sharing in multiple apps just create an alert dialogue and add
whtsapp,fb and other sharing option and while clicking on them you
have to call specific intent for this.As per my knowledge for sharing
in facebook you must impliment it's sdk, though facebook is able to
share simple image and hyperlink without integrating sdk.

photo share intent in android

Intent shareIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_WHEN_TASK_RESET);
shareIntent.setType("image/*");
Uri uri = Uri.parse(pathToImage);

Try this
Bitmap icon = mBitmap;
Intent share = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
share.setType("image/jpeg");
ByteArrayOutputStream bytes = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
icon.compress(Bitmap.CompressFormat.JPEG, 100, bytes);
File f = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + File.separator + "temporary_file.jpg");
try {
f.createNewFile();
FileOutputStream fo = new FileOutputStream(f);
fo.write(bytes.toByteArray());
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
share.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.parse("file:///sdcard/temporary_file.jpg"));
startActivity(Intent.createChooser(share, "Share Image"));

Android Share Via Dialog
Image post into facebook wall from android sdcard
This is the solution I came up with:
This function allows you to share to instagram, facebook or any other app if you know the package name. If the app is not installed it redirects to the Play Store. If you send "others" as parameters, you will display a list of apps that also support image sharing.
shareImageIntent(mActivity,"image/*", "/storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Instagram/IMG_20150120_095603.jpg", "Instagram Sharing test. #Josh","com.instagram.android"); // parameters - for facebook: "com.facebook.katana" , to display list of other apps you can share to: "others"
public void shareImageIntent(Activity a,String type, String mediaPath, String caption, String app){
Intent intent = mContext.getPackageManager().getLaunchIntentForPackage(app);
if ((intent != null)||(app.equals("others"))){
// Create the new Intent using the 'Send' action.
Intent share = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
if(!app.equals("others"))
share.setPackage(app);
// Set the MIME type
share.setType(type);
// Create the URI from the media
File media = new File(mediaPath);
Uri uri = Uri.fromFile(media);
// Add the URI and the caption to the Intent.
share.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, uri);
share.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, caption);
// Broadcast the Intent.
//startActivity(Intent.createChooser(share, "Share to"));
a.startActivity(share);
}
else{
intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
//intent.setData(Uri.parse("market://details?id="+"com.instagram.android"));
intent.setData(Uri.parse("market://details?id="+app));
a.startActivity(intent);
}
}
You can not use Intent to post to Facebook. They have specifically blocked this. You have to either use their SDK or copy it to the clipboard and have the user paste it after the facebook interface opens. I am having this same problem.

Share intent for instagram in Android

Actually I want to share image in Instagram through intent.
I found this solution for images saved on SD card but I want to do same for image on site (link).
I tried with
Intent shareIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.setType("image/*");
shareIntent
.putExtra(
Intent.EXTRA_STREAM,
Uri.parse("http://www.alliswell.biz/images/products/art/alliswell_signs/yellowB.jpg"));
shareIntent.setPackage("com.instagram.android");
startActivity(shareIntent);
But it's not working.
Edit
When I start above intent it opens my installed Instagram application and it immediately finish Instagram and toast message comes "unable to download file"
Actually it does not parse link and image respectively. What should be issue?
You should use local path to file
For example: "file:///path/to/file/image.png".
Note, that it is very important to include "file" in the path, without this part it also can show the same toast.
First of all you need to download file from that url. you may refer this code for downloading image from url:
String imageUrl = "Your_Image_Url";
if (imageUrl != null && !imageUrl.equals("")) {
String fileName = generateFileNameFromUrl(imageUrl);
String imageLocalPath = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory()+ File.separator+"Your_App_Name"+ fileName;
if (!new File(imageLocalPath).exists()) {
ImageDownloadModel imageDownloadModel = new ImageDownloadModel();
imageDownloadModel.setImageLocalPath(imageLocalPath);
imageDownloadModel.setImageUrl(imageUrl);
imageDownloadModels.add(imageDownloadModel);
}
ImageLoadAsynkTask imageLoadAsynkTask = new ImageLoadAsynkTask(new ImageDownloadDelegate(), imageDownloadModels, albumDir, activity);
imageLoadAsynkTask.execute();
and then use uri for that image for sharing it on instagram:
Intent shareIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_SEND);
shareIntent.setType("image/*");
shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.parse("file://" + imageLocalPath));
shareIntent.setPackage("com.instagram.android");
activity.startActivity(shareIntent);
