I cannot see Android SDK section in Android Studio preferences! This is the preferences which i see:
Can any one say how can i enable android SDK in preferences? It should be some thing like this:
Edit:
Some cashed data causes this problem and even invalidate cashes not worked for this problem. So Uninstall android studio (with it's data) completely and install it again works successfully.
I found the answer.
Once I uninstalled the android studio and installed it again but it doesn't works.
Then again I uninstalled the android studio and it cashes completely according to this post and installed it again.
So it works and show Android SDK.

I am using Android Studio 3.1 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I'm currently working on a project with target API 28. I've downloaded the SDK with API level 28 during installation but sometimes when I try to run my project on my device, a popup dialogue prompts me to select the SDK. This does not happen every time but happens sometimes even if I've run the project before and made no change to the SDK path. I don't know what triggers this. I've seen similar questions on StackOverflow, but none of the solutions work for me. Here's what I have done so far:
Synced my project
Invalidated cache and restart
closed my project and opened it again
Uninstalled my SDK and downloaded it again
Switched back to an older version of SDK and then back again
But none of this works and the only workaround I found was to open another project that I downloaded from Github (with API 26), build it and then go back to my current project. This solves it temporarily. A few of my friends are working on the same project on different machines (Windows, Mac) and they have this problem, too.
Is this a bug with AS or is there a permanent solution?
File->Settings->Android SDk.
If already was there in your system set the path to that otherwise download the SDK from SDK tools by selecting specific name.
I've found this workaround. It is not perfect, but it works. Hope this this will be helpful for someone else.
Move your project folder to another location and then open it. It resolves the problem.
It shows that I've already installed the Android SDK but I can't find it.:<
Tried in terminal to see what's in the folder but find nothing, this location is empty. Why the app tell me that I've installed it? How can I solve this problem? Thank you!!
I would say that you reinstall Android Studio after checking the SDK Manager at first. The SDK Path may also be corrupted, so check that.
For me it was two issues, proxy settings although tested okay was not connecting to display the list of available SDKs. Also launching Android Studio using "Run as administrator" was also required.
I had exactly the same issue and I came across this post but then before implementing the suggested solutions, I decided to first restart my AndroidStudio, on restart it gave me the option to download SDK and after that, it worked perfectly well.
I have fixed it by downloading the Android SDK from IntelliJ rather than Android Studio.
Then restart Android Studio, It detects the installed version.
After my Visual Studio install suddenly lost the ability to deploy my Xamarin app to an android emulator, I decided to uninstall EVERYTHING (Visual Studio, Xamarin, Android SDK) and start over.
Everything has been re-installed, but the Android SDK does not include the adb.exe file. The place where I expect to find it is here:
C:\Users\costcopc\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe
What went wrong? How can I fix this?
I opened a cmd.exe prompt and searched the entire drive (C:>) to find the file - it doesn't exist.
Re-Tracing My Steps
In case it helps, I will retrace my steps...
Uninstalling
I un-installed Xamarin first, according to instructions. I wanted a blank slate so, per those instructions, I also uninstalled:
Android SDK Tools
GTK#
I did not uninstall the Java SDK because, as my very first link explained, I had already used a system restore point to recover a stable version of the Java SDK.
Next up was Visual Studio. I used its installer for the uninstallation, and then I followed the post-uninstall "Secondary installer" instructions it gave.
Re-Installing
I re-installed VS 2015 first, then I launched the Xamarin Studio installer, which in turn installed the Android SDK for me:
With everything seemingly installed successfully, I launched Visual Studio and tried to open the Android SDK Manager with Tools -> Android -> Android SDK Manager.
It worked, but I noticed that a cmd.exe window opened and remained opened, containing a couple strange error messages.
There it is: "The process cannot access the file because it is in use by another process."
Despite the anomalies, I did use the SDK manager to install 4 more packages.
Still, I was feeling uneasy about the error messages so I figured it was time to reboot. After the reboot the situation became worse. Before, Visual Studio was at least able to launch the android SDK manager. Now it was altogether unable to launch it:
That oddball SDK path C:\Users\costcopc\AppData\Local\Android\ANDROI-1 had disappeared!
Xamarin Studio was also unable to launch the SDK Manager:
Now I chose to execute a Xamarin Studio installation "repair." Xamarin acted like the Android SDK was installed, and so it did nothing to fix it.
Again, what can I do to fix this?
I solved this issue by selecting Tools/Xamarin Account in VS 2017RC.
Then the browser opens, go into your account and download and install Xamarin from here.
I'd recommend you installing VS 2015 community ISO from here:
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=615448&clcid=0x409
after installation, open VS > tools> options > Xamarin , and check that your
SDK is detected successfully:
If something is not detected, then run android SDK manager as administrator then make sure that the SDKs are installed/updated correctly.
just Run visual studio as administrator and it will be solved(map directory up to end folder where actual tool are residing)
I updated the Eclipse plugins (Help - Check for update). Since the restart after installation, the plugins aren't working any longer. They're still enlisted in "installation details", but there are no Android preferences, no Android menu entries, no editor ("Could not open the editor: No editor descriptor for id com.android.ide.eclipse.editors.manifest.ManifestEditor"), and so on. I tried to un- and reinstall the plugins with no success. I'm using Eclipse Helileo with Ubuntu. Any idea how I could get my Android IDE working again?
Did you also update the SDK tools? i.e clicking the little Android with the arrow icon and letting it check for updates then installing the updates.
the problem come from the compatibility of the plugin versions and the version of the jdk/sdk
if you have the last plugin , you must have the last version of jdk/sdk
try to download the last revision of sdk android , with the last jdk java
and lanch again the eclipse .
good luck my freind
I have had the same problem several times. Sadly, the only sure-fire solution I've found is to remove ~/.eclipse and reinstall the Android Eclipse plugin (http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/installing-adt.html). There is talk that it's fixable just by modifying the bundles.info file (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587657) but I never managed to get it working that way.
Couple of weeks ago I was working on android application. Everything was working fine. I have updated my eclipse with all the versions of android sdk. Starting from 1.* to 4.0.3. Today I opened my project to make some changes in that. And I found only 4.0.3 platform. And all my projects have hundreds of errors even my AVD is showing with red cross on it.
Can any one please tell me what is it? How come I miss my all installed sdk platforms?
Thanks in advance.
If you accidentally deleted the Android SDK folder it would stop all your code fro working. Try resetting up you path. In eclipse go to Window -> Preferences -> Android. Then browse to the SDK folder in the SDK location target textbox.
