how to delete an image from android when its URI is known? - android

Im developing an android app which selects an image from the gallery in one activity and displays it in another.But when I try to delete the selected image it doesnt delete.I'm passing its uri between the two activies. Many thanks in Advance!!!!
Here's my Code :
ACTIVITY HOMESCREEN
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
if (requestCode == PICK_IMAGE_REQUEST && resultCode == RESULT_OK && data != null && data.getData() != null) {
Uri uri = data.getData();
Intent i = new Intent(this, Imageviewer.class);
i.putExtra("imgpath", uri.toString());
startActivity(i);
}
}
IMAGEVIEWER ACTIVITY :
Uri imageUri;
imageUri = Uri.parse(intent.getStringExtra("imgpath"));
File fdelete = new File(imageUri.toString());
if (fdelete.exists()) {
if (fdelete.delete()) {
System.out.println("file Deleted :" );
} else {
System.out.println("file not Deleted :");
}
}

First you must take real path of image:
//getting real path from uri
private String getFilePath(Uri uri) {
String[] projection = {MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA};
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(uri, projection, null, null, null);
if (cursor != null) {
cursor.moveToFirst();
int columnIndex = cursor.getColumnIndex(projection[0]);
String picturePath = cursor.getString(columnIndex); // returns null
cursor.close();
return picturePath;
}
return null;
}
Then you can delete this file like below:
Uri imageUri;
imageUri = Uri.parse(intent.getStringExtra("imgpath"));
File fdelete = new File(getFilePath(imageUri));
if (fdelete.exists()) {
if (fdelete.delete()) {
System.out.println("file Deleted :" );
} else {
System.out.println("file not Deleted :");
}
}

Try this : (In the second Activity) ImageViewerActivity in your case.
Intent intent = getIntent();
String receivedPath = intent.getExtras().getString("imgpath");
File fdelete = new File(receivedPath);
if (fdelete.exists()) {
if (fdelete.delete()) {
System.out.println("file Deleted :" );
} else {
System.out.println("file not Deleted :");
}
}
Also you can debug your codes line by line to see and check if the ImgPath is getting correctly or not!

With kotlin you could do: uri.toFile().delete() and its deleted

file not creating in android internal storage

This is function for saving images. I am trying to save the image name (from gallery) to a file (preferably csv file). but the android is not creating the file. need help in creating the file in android internal storage.
public void saveImage(String imagePath){
String[] arrOfStr = imagePath.split("/"); //splitting full image path by / to only get the image name e.g 00001.jpg
String imageName = null;
for (String a : arrOfStr)
imageName = a; // imageName only contains the imageName i.e 00001.jpg
String filename = "test_ids.txt";
try {
File root = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory().getAbsolutePath(), filename);
if (!root.exists()) {
root.mkdirs();
}
File gpxfile = new File(root, filename);
FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(gpxfile);
writer.append(imageName);
writer.flush();
writer.close();
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Saved", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Not Saved", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
//super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
if (resultCode != RESULT_CANCELED) {
switch (requestCode) {
case 0:
if (resultCode == RESULT_OK && data != null) {
Bitmap selectedImage = (Bitmap) data.getExtras().get("data");
imageView.setImageBitmap(selectedImage);
}
break;
case 1:
if (resultCode == RESULT_OK && data != null) {
Uri selectedImage = data.getData();
String[] filePathColumn = {MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA};
if (selectedImage != null) {
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(selectedImage, filePathColumn, null, null, null);
if (cursor != null) {
cursor.moveToFirst();
int columnIndex = cursor.getColumnIndex(filePathColumn[0]);
String picturePath = cursor.getString(columnIndex);
saveImage(picturePath); // a function to save images
imageView.setImageURI(selectedImage);
cursor.close();
}
}
}
break;

Pick image from Gallery - File not found when running newer Android versions

I am working on a address book like Android SDK 14+ app. The users should be able to pick an image from the Gallery to add it to a contact entry.
Running the following code to pick and copy the image is no problem in API 14-20 but does not work in API 21+. The file is not found anymore:
protected void pickFoto() {
if (filePermissionsRequired()) {
askForFilePermissions(new PermissionRequestCompletionHandler() {
#Override
public void onPermissionRequestResult(boolean permissionGranted) {
if (permissionGranted)
addOrEditReceipt();
}
});
return;
}
Intent pickPhotoIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI);
startActivityForResult(pickPhotoIntent , PICK_FOTO_ACTION);
}
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent intent) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, intent);
if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK) {
switch (requestCode) {
...
case PICK_FOTO_ACTION: {
Uri imageUri = intent.getData();
String[] filePathColumn = {MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA};
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(imageUri, filePathColumn, null, null, null);
cursor.moveToFirst();
int columnIndex = cursor.getColumnIndex(filePathColumn[0]);
String filePath = cursor.getString(columnIndex);
cursor.close();
File imgFile = new File(filePath);
if (imgFile.exists())
// use the file...
else
Toast.makeText(this, "Image file not found", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
break;
}
}
public interface PermissionRequestCompletionHandler {
void onPermissionRequestResult(boolean permissionGranted);
}
private PermissionRequestCompletionHandler permissionRequestCompletionHandler;
public boolean filePermissionsRequired() {
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= 23)
return checkSelfPermission(Manifest.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED;
else
return false;
}
public boolean askForFilePermissions(PermissionRequestCompletionHandler completionHandler) {
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= 23) {
permissionRequestCompletionHandler = completionHandler;
boolean hasPermission = this.checkSelfPermission(Manifest.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) == PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED;
if (!hasPermission) {
this.requestPermissions(new String[]{Manifest.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Manifest.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE}, 1);
return true;
}
}
permissionRequestCompletionHandler = null;
return false;
}
The app has runtime permissions to access the Gallery. So what am I doing wrong? How to access the file on newer API versions?
}
try below code to open the camera and getting result:
File file = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/DCIM/", "image" + System.currentTimeMillis() + ".png");
Uri imageUri = Uri.fromFile(file);
Intent intent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE);
intent.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, imageUri);
startActivityForResult(intent, PICK_FOTO_ACTION);
for getting result :
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK) {
switch (requestCode) {
case PICK_FOTO_ACTION: {
Uri imageUri = imageUri;
File imgFile = new File(imageUri.getPath());
if (imgFile.exists())
// use the file...
else
Toast.makeText(this, "Image file not found", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
break;
}
}
}
for getting actual path from uri :
public String getPath(Uri uri)
{
String[] projection = { MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA };
Cursor cursor = managedQuery(uri, projection, null, null, null);
if (cursor == null) return null;
int column_index = cursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA);
cursor.moveToFirst();
String s=cursor.getString(column_index);
cursor.close();
return s;
}
remove unwanted uri part :
public String RemoveUnwantedString(String pathUri){
//pathUri = "content://com.google.android.apps.photos.contentprovider/-1/2/content://media/external/video/media/5213/ORIGINAL/NONE/2106970034"
String[] d1 = pathUri.split("content://");
for (String item1:d1) {
if (item1.contains("media/")) {
String[] d2 = item1.split("/ORIGINAL/");
for (String item2:d2) {
if (item2.contains("media/")) {
pathUri = "content://" + item2;
break;
}
}
break;
}
}
//pathUri = "content://media/external/video/media/5213"
return pathUri;
}
For versions 21 and higher you can do this , you need to add a condition to check the SDK version for this. Exectute this code in the API 21+ condition block.
String wholeID = DocumentsContract.getDocumentId(imageUri );
String id = wholeID.split(":")[1];
String sel = MediaStore.Images.Media._ID + "=?";
cursor =
getContentResolver().query(MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI,
projection, sel, new String[]{ id }, null);
try
{
int column_index = cursor
.getColumnIndex(MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA);
cursor.moveToFirst();
path = cursor.getString(column_index).toString();
cursor.close();
}
catch(NullPointerException e) {
}

Android - How to get selected file name from the document

I am launching the intent for selecting documnets using following code.
private void showFileChooser() {
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT);
intent.setType("*/*");
intent.addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_OPENABLE);
try {
startActivityForResult(
Intent.createChooser(intent, "Select a File to Upload"), 1);
} catch (android.content.ActivityNotFoundException ex) {
// Potentially direct the user to the Market with a Dialog
Toast.makeText(this, "Please install a File Manager.",
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
}
In onActivity results when i am trying to get the file path it is giving some other number in the place of file name.
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
switch (requestCode) {
case 1:
if (resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
// Get the Uri of the selected file
Uri uri = data.getData();
File myFile = new File(uri.toString());
String path = myFile.getAbsolutePath();
}
break;
}
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
}
That path value i am getting like this.
"content://com.android.providers.downloads.documents/document/1433"
But i want real file name like doc1.pdf etc.. How to get it?
When you get a content:// uri, you'll need to query a content resolver and then grab the display name.
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
switch (requestCode) {
case 1:
if (resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
// Get the Uri of the selected file
Uri uri = data.getData();
String uriString = uri.toString();
File myFile = new File(uriString);
String path = myFile.getAbsolutePath();
String displayName = null;
if (uriString.startsWith("content://")) {
Cursor cursor = null;
try {
cursor = getActivity().getContentResolver().query(uri, null, null, null, null);
if (cursor != null && cursor.moveToFirst()) {
displayName = cursor.getString(cursor.getColumnIndex(OpenableColumns.DISPLAY_NAME));
}
} finally {
cursor.close();
}
} else if (uriString.startsWith("file://")) {
displayName = myFile.getName();
}
}
break;
}
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
}
First Check if the permission is granted for Application.. Below method is used to check run-time permission'
public void onClick(View v) {
//Checks if the permission is Enabled or not...
if (ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(thisActivity,
Manifest.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)
!= PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED) {
ActivityCompat.requestPermissions(thisActivity,
new String[]{Manifest.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE},
REQUEST_PERMISSION);
} else {
Intent galleryIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,
android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI);
startActivityForResult(galleryIntent, USER_IMG_REQUEST);
}
}
and below method is used to find the uri path name of the file
private String getRealPathFromUri(Uri uri) {
String[] projection = {MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA};
CursorLoader cursorLoader = new CursorLoader(thisActivity, uri, projection, null, null, null);
Cursor cursor = cursorLoader.loadInBackground();
int column = cursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA);
cursor.moveToFirst();
String result = cursor.getString(column);
cursor.close();
return result;
}
and the above method can be used as
if (requestCode == USER_IMG_REQUEST && resultCode == RESULT_OK && data != null) {
Uri path = data.getData();
try {
String imagePath = getRealPathFromUri(path);
File file = new File(imagePath);
RequestBody reqFile = RequestBody.create(MediaType.parse("image/*"), file);
MultipartBody.Part imageFile = MultipartBody.Part.createFormData("userImage", file.getName(), reqFile);
You can try this,m I hope it will help u:
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
Log.i("inside", "onActivityResult");
if(requestCode == FILE_MANAGER_REQUEST_CODE)
{
// Check if the user actually selected an image:
if(resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK)
{
// This gets the URI of the image the user selected:
Uri selectedFileURI = data.getData();
File file = new File(getRealPathFromURI(selectedFileURI));
// Create a new Intent to send to the next Activity:
}
}
}
private String getRealPathFromURI(Uri contentURI) {
String result;
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(contentURI, null, null, null, null);
if (cursor == null) { // Source is Dropbox or other similar local file path
result = contentURI.getPath();
} else {
cursor.moveToFirst();
int idx = cursor.getColumnIndex(MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns.DATA);
result = cursor.getString(idx);
cursor.close();
}
return result;
}
Here is the complete solution:
Pass your context and URI object from onActivityResult to below function to get the correct path:
it gives the path as /storage/emulated/0/APMC Mahuva/Report20-11-2017.pdf (where I've selected this Report20-11-2017.pdf file)
String getFilePath(Context cntx, Uri uri) {
Cursor cursor = null;
try {
String[] arr = { MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA };
cursor = cntx.getContentResolver().query(uri, arr, null, null, null);
int column_index = cursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA);
cursor.moveToFirst();
return cursor.getString(column_index);
} finally {
if (cursor != null) {
cursor.close();
}
}
}

onActivityResult returns null data for an Image Capture

#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
filePath = getOutputMediaFile(FileColumns.MEDIA_TYPE_IMAGE);
File file = new File(filePath);
Uri output = Uri.fromFile(file);
Intent i = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE);
i.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, output);
startActivityForResult(i, RETURN_FILE_PATH);
}
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
//data is always null here.
//requestCode = RETURN_FILE_PATH;
//resultCode = Activity.RESULT_OK;
}
I checked the values for file and output Uri, both are fine and the captured image actually exists at that location.
But the data returned in onActivityResult is always null even after capturing the image.
EDIT:
I checked this question:
onActivityResult returns with data = null
which says:
Whenever you save an image by passing EXTRAOUTPUT with camera intent
the data parameter inside the onActivityResult always return null. So,
instead of using data to retrieve the image , use the filepath to
retrieve the Bitmap.
and maybe that solution will work for me. But the above code of mine was a working code until now for the same scenario.
According to this post data is null when you pre insert a uri. That means you already defined your output uri here:
i.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, output);
So when you get a Activity.RESULT_OK; just load the taken photo by its known url.
Try this code this is working for me.
else if(requestCode == Constant.PICK_FROM_CAMERA)
{
if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK)
{
if(data!=null)
{
mImageCaptureUri = data.getData();
//path= mImageCaptureUri.getPath();
try
{
path = getPath(mImageCaptureUri,Wonderlistpage.this); //from Gallery
}
catch(Exception e)
{
path = mImageCaptureUri.getPath();
Log.i("check image attach or not", e.toString());
}
String arr[] = path.split("/");
int i;
String k = null;
for(i=0;i<arr.length;i++)
{
k=arr[i];
}
photoname="_"+String.valueOf(System.currentTimeMillis()) +k;
if(setprofileimage_sendimagewithmessage==1)
{
performCrop(mImageCaptureUri);
}
else
{
loading_details="CAMERA";
new performBackgroundTask33().execute();
}
}
else
{
file1 = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),
String.valueOf(System.currentTimeMillis()) + "_FromCamera.jpg");
Uri mImageCaptureUri = Uri.fromFile(file1);
try
{
path = getPath(mImageCaptureUri,Wonderlistpage.this); //from Gallery
}
catch(Exception e)
{
path = mImageCaptureUri.getPath();
Log.i("check image attach or not", e.toString());
}
String arr[] = path.split("/");
int i;
String k = null;
for(i=0;i<arr.length;i++)
{
k=arr[i];
}
photoname="_"+String.valueOf(System.currentTimeMillis()) +k;
if(setprofileimage_sendimagewithmessage==1)
{
performCrop(mImageCaptureUri);
}
else
{
loading_details="CAMERA";
new performBackgroundTask33().execute();
}
}
//new UploadTask().execute();
}
}
Try following code
{
final String[] imageColumns = { MediaStore.Images.Media._ID,MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA };
final String imageOrderBy = MediaStore.Images.Media._ID + " DESC";
Cursor imageCursor = managedQuery(MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI, imageColumns, null, null, imageOrderBy);
imageCursor.moveToFirst();
do {
String fullPath = imageCursor.getString(imageCursor.getColumnIndex(MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA));
if (fullPath.contains("DCIM")) {
//get bitmap from fullpath here.
return;
}
}
while (imageCursor.moveToNext());
Just Put this code into your onActivityResult. The same problem i have faced on some devices and this solved my problem. Hope this will also help you.
try {
Uri selectedImage = output;
if (selectedImage == null)
return;
String[] filePathColumn = { MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA };
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(selectedImage, filePathColumn, null, null, null);
cursor.moveToFirst();
int columnIndex = cursor.getColumnIndex(filePathColumn[0]);
String picturePath = cursor.getString(columnIndex);
cursor.close();
} catch (Exception e) {
return;
}
You will get the Picture path in picturePath variable and Uri in selectedImage Variable.
If your activity has launchmode as singleInstance in your manifest then you would face this issue. Try changing it. As it cancels the result everytime.

Get file path of image on Android

I have an app that can make pictures and upload them. The upload requires the file path of the photo but I can't get it.
This is my code:
public void maakfoto (View v) {
Intent cameraIntent = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE);
cameraIntent.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, mImageCaptureUri);
startActivityForResult(cameraIntent, CAMERA_REQUEST);
}
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
if (requestCode == CAMERA_REQUEST && resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
Bitmap photo = (Bitmap) data.getExtras().get("data");
imageView.setImageBitmap(photo);
knop.setVisibility(Button.VISIBLE);
System.out.println(mImageCaptureUri);
}
}
Please help me to get the file path.
Posting to Twitter needs the image's actual path on the device to be sent in the request to post. I was finding it mighty difficult to get the actual path and more often than not I would get the wrong path.
To counter that, once you have a Bitmap, I use that to get the URI from using the getImageUri(). Subsequently, I use the tempUri Uri instance to get the actual path as it is on the device.
This is production code and naturally tested. ;-)
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
if (requestCode == CAMERA_REQUEST && resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
Bitmap photo = (Bitmap) data.getExtras().get("data");
imageView.setImageBitmap(photo);
knop.setVisibility(Button.VISIBLE);
// CALL THIS METHOD TO GET THE URI FROM THE BITMAP
Uri tempUri = getImageUri(getApplicationContext(), photo);
// CALL THIS METHOD TO GET THE ACTUAL PATH
File finalFile = new File(getRealPathFromURI(tempUri));
System.out.println(mImageCaptureUri);
}
}
public Uri getImageUri(Context inContext, Bitmap inImage) {
ByteArrayOutputStream bytes = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
inImage.compress(Bitmap.CompressFormat.JPEG, 100, bytes);
String path = Images.Media.insertImage(inContext.getContentResolver(), inImage, "Title", null);
return Uri.parse(path);
}
public String getRealPathFromURI(Uri uri) {
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(uri, null, null, null, null);
cursor.moveToFirst();
int idx = cursor.getColumnIndex(MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns.DATA);
return cursor.getString(idx);
}
Try out with mImageCaptureUri.getPath(); By Below Way :
if (requestCode == CAMERA_REQUEST && resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
//Get your Image Path
String Path=mImageCaptureUri.getPath();
Bitmap photo = (Bitmap) data.getExtras().get("data");
imageView.setImageBitmap(photo);
knop.setVisibility(Button.VISIBLE);
System.out.println(mImageCaptureUri);
}
In order to take a picture you have to determine a path where you would like the image saved and pass that as an extra in the intent, for example:
private void capture(){
String directoryPath = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/" + IMAGE_DIRECTORY + "/";
String filePath = directoryPath+Long.toHexString(System.currentTimeMillis())+".jpg";
File directory = new File(directoryPath);
if (!directory.exists()) {
directory.mkdirs();
}
this.capturePath = filePath; // you will process the image from this path if the capture goes well
Intent intent = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE);
intent.putExtra( MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, Uri.fromFile( new File(filePath) ) );
startActivityForResult(intent, REQUEST_CAPTURE);
}
I just copied the above portion from another answer I gave.
However to warn you there are a lot of inconsitencies with image capture behavior between devices that you should look out for.
Here is an issue I ran into on some HTC devices, where it would save in the location I passed and in it's default location resulting in duplicate images on the device:
Deleting a gallery image after camera intent photo taken
I am doing this on click of Button.
private static final int CAMERA_PIC_REQUEST = 1;
private View.OnClickListener OpenCamera=new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View paramView) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
Intent cameraIntent = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE);
NewSelectedImageURL=null;
//outfile where we are thinking of saving it
Date date = new Date();
SimpleDateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH-mm-ss");
String newPicFile = RecipeName+ df.format(date) + ".png";
String outPath =Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/myFolderName/"+ newPicFile ;
File outFile = new File(outPath);
CapturedImageURL=outFile.toString();
Uri outuri = Uri.fromFile(outFile);
cameraIntent.putExtra(android.provider.MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, outuri);
startActivityForResult(cameraIntent, CAMERA_PIC_REQUEST);
}
};
You can get the URL of the recently Captured Image from variable CapturedImageURL
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
//////////////////////////////////////
if (requestCode == CAMERA_PIC_REQUEST) {
// do something
if (resultCode == RESULT_OK)
{
Uri uri = null;
if (data != null)
{
uri = data.getData();
}
if (uri == null && CapturedImageURL != null)
{
uri = Uri.fromFile(new File(CapturedImageURL));
}
File file = new File(CapturedImageURL);
if (!file.exists()) {
file.mkdir();
sendBroadcast(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MEDIA_MOUNTED, Uri.parse("file://"+Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory())));
}
}
}
use this function to get the capture image path
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
if (requestCode == CAMERA_REQUEST && resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
Uri mImageCaptureUri = intent.getData();
Bitmap photo = (Bitmap) data.getExtras().get("data");
imageView.setImageBitmap(photo);
knop.setVisibility(Button.VISIBLE);
System.out.println(mImageCaptureUri);
//getImgPath(mImageCaptureUri);// it will return the Capture image path
}
}
public String getImgPath(Uri uri) {
String[] largeFileProjection = { MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns._ID,
MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns.DATA };
String largeFileSort = MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns._ID + " DESC";
Cursor myCursor = this.managedQuery(
MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI,
largeFileProjection, null, null, largeFileSort);
String largeImagePath = "";
try {
myCursor.moveToFirst();
largeImagePath = myCursor
.getString(myCursor
.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns.DATA));
} finally {
myCursor.close();
}
return largeImagePath;
}
You can do like that In Kotlin If you need kotlin code in the future
val myUri = getImageUri(applicationContext, myBitmap!!)
val finalFile = File(getRealPathFromURI(myUri))
fun getImageUri(inContext: Context, inImage: Bitmap): Uri {
val bytes = ByteArrayOutputStream()
inImage.compress(Bitmap.CompressFormat.JPEG, 100, bytes)
val path = MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(inContext.contentResolver, inImage, "Title", null)
return Uri.parse(path)
}
fun getRealPathFromURI(uri: Uri): String {
val cursor = contentResolver.query(uri, null, null, null, null)
cursor!!.moveToFirst()
val idx = cursor.getColumnIndex(MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns.DATA)
return cursor.getString(idx)
}
To get the path of all images in android I am using following code
public void allImages()
{
ContentResolver cr = getContentResolver();
Cursor cursor;
Uri allimagessuri = MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI;
String selection = MediaStore.Images.Media._ID + " != 0";
cursor = cr.query(allsongsuri, STAR, selection, null, null);
if (cursor != null) {
if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
do {
String fullpath = cursor.getString(cursor
.getColumnIndex(MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA));
Log.i("Image path ", fullpath + "");
} while (cursor.moveToNext());
}
cursor.close();
}
}
Simple Pass Intent first
Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI);
startActivityForResult(i, RESULT_LOAD_IMAGE);
And u will get picture path on u onActivityResult
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
if (requestCode == RESULT_LOAD_IMAGE && resultCode == RESULT_OK && null != data) {
Uri selectedImage = data.getData();
String[] filePathColumn = { MediaStore.Images.Media.DATA };
Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(selectedImage,filePathColumn, null, null, null);
cursor.moveToFirst();
int columnIndex = cursor.getColumnIndex(filePathColumn[0]);
String picturePath = cursor.getString(columnIndex);
cursor.close();
ImageView imageView = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.imgView);
imageView.setImageBitmap(BitmapFactory.decodeFile(picturePath));
}
}
