Update Notification without Collasping notification drawer

i have a notification manager that launches an activity when clicked.
mBuilder =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(context)

.setPriority(NotificationCompat.PRIORITY_MAX)

mBuilder.setContentIntent(pendingIntent);
the function performed in this can also be be asynchronous depending on the users preference. I want to update the notification to an ongoing progress. something of this nature:

new NotificationCompat.Builder(context)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.ic_launcher)
.setOngoing(true)
.setContentTitle("Sending details")
.setPriority(NotificationCompat.PRIORITY_MAX)
.setProgress(100, 0, true)

when the notification is selected. This is achieved but what i want to do is update the notification from the former to the later without having to first slide up the navigation drawer.

Try this..
NotificationManager mNotificationManager = (NotificationManager) context.getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
mNotificationManager.notify(NOTIFICATION_ID, mBuilder.build());
you need NOTIFICATION_ID to updated the specific notification.

Android notification clear just after clicked

i want to create a notification that user can't close it by drag to left or right.
user must click o that to close notification
my code is :

but it dosnot work
any idea ?

You need to use both functions to retain the notification,
nBuilder.setOngoing(true);
nBuilder.setAutoCancel(true);
It can be cancelled only when user taps on it.
Find setAutoCancel in this Managing Notifications.

I need to implement a code for displaying large text with 200 characters in Notifications. Here i used following code but it shows single line.

You can choose from different styles to use for the notification builder:
In your case I would use the NotificationCompat.BigTextStyle. More details can be found here.
Don't forget to import v4 support when using this.

In my application, notification message is static but can't show all sentense.
I solved with subText properties of notification.

You add a style for the the large text.

Android notification FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL not working and not showing new Activity

I've been searching for almost a day for this problem, I followed the example about Android Notification here: http://www.vogella.com/articles/AndroidNotifications/article.html. It worked well and I can send the Notification. The problem is, when I click on the notification, it does NOT disappear even though I have set:
setAutoCancel(true) AND notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL

Android notification doesn't disappear after clicking the notifcation

Try removing:
noti.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
It should work without noti.flags.
The new way of using flags in NotificationCompat is to use the defined methods, like setAutoCancel(true).

But if i click on notification nothing happen and it is still there. In documentation is, that i need to use:
.setAutoCancel(true)
Some one have similar problem and somebody tells him to use:

I use both, but no result :(

I think that if you don't use an Intent with your notification, the only way to dismiss its to swipe it.
Otherwise you can use an Intent to open your activity and that will actually clear the notification:
Intent showIntent = new Intent(this, YourActivity.class);
PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, showIntent, 0);
And to add it to the notification:
NotificationCompat.Builder mNotifyBuilder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(context)
.setContentTitle("MyApp")
.setContentText(message)
.setDefaults(Notification.DEFAULT_ALL)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setContentIntent(contentIntent)
.setSmallIcon(icon);

The user can dismiss all notification or if you set your notification to auto-cancel it is also removed once the user selects it.
You can also call the cancel() for a specific notification ID on the NotificationManager. The cancelAll() method call removes all of the notifications you previously issued.
Example:
mNotificationManager.cancel(notifyId);

just use this line inside button onclick event-
mNotificationManager.cancel(notifyId);//id is that u used for notification

just add
