I copied all my code for the navigation drawer within my new NavigationDrawerActivity.java which looks like this:

It's working great up to the fact that when i click an item in the navigation nothing happens. Are there any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong.
You can find the whole project here.
Thanks for your help.

First , post a reference or code to how you are creating the menu item , do u create it in the resources menu file or simply load an array , If you are using array then i would suggest you to use menu xml to create menu items.
Something like this:

<menu xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">

</menu>
also make corresponding changes in ur code,check

you mean this as navigation bar
if so do put this code in Styles.xml
<resources>

#color/colorPrimary

#color/colorPrimaryDark

#color/colorAccent

</resources>
You can do that with an easy step. Don't remove the android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout from your layout, instead add the attribute app:elevation="0dp" to it. Your final layout will be:
<android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout
android:id="#+id/appBarLayout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
app:elevation="0dp">
...
</android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout>

You're not switching fragments correctly in your case statements. You're only instantiating a new Fragment class and not doing anything with it. You need to do something like this:
Fragment fragment;
switch (menuItem.getItemId()){
//Replacing the main content with ContentFragment Which is our Inbox View;
case R.id.dashboard:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"dashboard",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
fragment = new Dashboard();
break;
// For rest of the options we just show a toast on click
case R.id.profile:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"profile",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
fragment = new Profile();
break;
case R.id.logs:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"logs",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
fragment = new Logs();
break;
case R.id.statements:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"statements",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
fragment = new Statements();
break;
case R.id.timeline:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"timeliine",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
fragment = new Timeline();
break;
case R.id.settings:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"settings",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
fragment = new Settings();
break;
default:
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"Somethings Wrong",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
break;
}
android.support.v4.app.FragmentTransaction fragmentTransaction = getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction();
fragmentTransaction.replace(R.id.frame,fragment);
fragmentTransaction.commit();
This way you're instantiating a fragment with a proper Fragment class each time, and at the end, replacing the frame with that particular fragment.
Digresion: It is recommended that you use newInstance to get the fragments and not the constructor. This is known as the Singleton design pattern.

Changing navigation drawer items at runtime

The case is the following: I have two types of users, type1 and type2. Both have to login in order to go to the main activity which has a Navigation Drawer. The items in the navigation drawer depends on the type of the user. How can I change the items of the navigation drawer at runtime after I know the user type.

I found easier way to change navigation view ( work with both submenu and menu). You can re-inflate NavigationViewat runtime with 2 lines of code. In this example i re-inflate with new_navigation_drawer_items.xml when user successfully logged-in
navigationView.getMenu().clear(); //clear old inflated items.
navigationView.inflateMenu(R.menu.logged_in_navigation_drawer_items); //inflate new items.
When user log out just re-inflate again with logged_out_navigation_drawer_items.xml
navigationView.getMenu().clear(); //clear old inflated items.
navigationView.inflateMenu(R.menu.logged_out_navigation_drawer_items); //inflate new items.

Start new Activity with the navigation drawer still able to be accessed

I created a Navigation drawer using the design support library. When I open the Navigation Drawer and click on the Volunteer menu item see image
I want the contents of the Volunteer screen with three tabs below and still able to access the navigation drawer displayed. I've tried implementing that code but the app crashes
I tried to use this example https://guides.codepath.com/android/Fragment-Navigation-Drawer. However the Activity that has the

The Volunteer Fragment is not a Fragment as it extends AppCompatActivity. It should extend Fragment.
In the navigation drawer click listener you then should do something like this:
getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction().replace(R.id.frame_container, new Fragment_Volunteer()).commit();
you should use only Activity: "MainActivity"
and when you show "Fragment_Volunteer" on item menu put inside switch case:
getSupportFragmentManager()
.beginTransaction()
.replace(R.id.frame_container, new Fragment_Volunteer())
.commit();
use the code next:
Fragment_Volunteer extends Fragment
finally Fragment not use:
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {}
the code correct is this:
public class Fragment_Volunteer extends Fragment {
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.activity_profile, container, false);
return view;
}
}
I hope to help, sorry for my bad english
