I'm first time use googleMap so plz help me.I want to show user location on map when it open app. I have done this when user already open gps.
LocationManager locationManagerCt = (LocationManager) getContext().getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE);
locationCt = locationManagerCt
.getLastKnownLocation(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER);
LatLng latLng=new LatLng(locationCt.getLatitude(), locationCt.getLongitude());
MarkerOptions marker = new MarkerOptions().position(latLng).title("Current Location").snippet("Discription");
marker.icon(BitmapDescriptorFactory
.defaultMarker(BitmapDescriptorFactory.HUE_ORANGE));
// Moving Camera to a Location with animation
CameraPosition cameraPosition = new CameraPosition.Builder()
.target(latLng).zoom(15).build();
HomeActivity.mGoogleMap.animateCamera(CameraUpdateFactory
.newCameraPosition(cameraPosition));
HomeActivity.mGoogleMap.addMarker(marker);
when gps is turn off. I try to doing the same thing after turn on Gps.
I'm turn on gps from here:
https://stackoverflow.com/a/33555732/3393578
After user turn on gps
#Override protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
if (requestCode == 1000) {
if(resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK){
//after user press ok button on GPS popup
/*I've apply same code above but unable to get location
its give me error on Location (nullpointer) */
} if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_CANCELED) {
}
}
}
How to get location after turn on GPS within seconds.
I don't want to refresh activity.
Thank you!
Firstly, switch to FusedLocationApi instead of LocationManager which is old now. You need to use requestLocationUpdates() method of FusedLocationAPI.
Go through the google samples for details:
https://github.com/googlesamples/android-play-location
Please use this library, this works really well
https://github.com/mrmans0n/smart-location-lib
Please try like this.
private FusedLocationProviderClient mFusedLocationClient;
LocationRequest mLocationRequest;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_maps);
ButterKnife.bind(this);
mFusedLocationClient = LocationServices.getFusedLocationProviderClient(this);
}
public void requestLocationUpdates() {
mLocationRequest = new LocationRequest();
mLocationRequest.setInterval(120000); // two minute interval
mLocationRequest.setFastestInterval(1000);
mLocationRequest.setPriority(LocationRequest.PRIORITY_BALANCED_POWER_ACCURACY);
if (ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(this,
Manifest.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
== PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED) {
mFusedLocationClient.requestLocationUpdates(mLocationRequest, mLocationCallback, Looper.myLooper());
}
}
#Override
public void onConnected(Bundle bundle) {
if (ActivityCompat.checkSelfPermission(this, Manifest.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED && ActivityCompat.checkSelfPermission(this, Manifest.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED) {
// TODO: Consider calling
// ActivityCompat#requestPermissions
// here to request the missing permissions, and then overriding
// public void onRequestPermissionsResult(int requestCode, String[] permissions,
// int[] grantResults)
// to handle the case where the user grants the permission. See the documentation
// for ActivityCompat#requestPermissions for more details.
return;
}
requestLocationUpdates();
mFusedLocationClient.getLastLocation()
.addOnCompleteListener(this, new OnCompleteListener<Location>() {
#Override
public void onComplete(#NonNull Task<Location> task) {
if (task.isSuccessful() && task.getResult() != null) {
mLastLocation = task.getResult();
} else {
Log.w(TAG, "getLastLocation:exception", task.getException());
Toast.makeText(mContext, "No Location Detected.", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
}
});
}

When I run my Maps activity and accept the location permissions for the first time, if I press on "My Location" button nothing happens.
However, if i close the activity and go back to it, the button works fine after that! So, The problem is only after I accept the permissions for the first time of activity launch.
If I recreate the activity after accepting permissions the problem is solved, but I do not like that solution, plus I want to understand the cause of the problem.
What is causing this bug?

Debug your code to check what values from latitude and longitude you receive when you first grant the permission. The location might not be set at that moment. If the GPS is not already turned on, acquiring fine location takes sometimes a little more time. I've had the same issue on some of the devices used for testing.
I've been struggling with this issue and at the minute the only workaround I've found is to use the fuse location client to retrieve the location of the device and add a custom behavior for "my location" button.
In this way it works all times without reloading the activity.
private void getDeviceLocation() {
/*
* Get the best and most recent location of the device, which may be null in rare
* cases when a location is not available.
*/
try {
if (hasLocationPermission()) {
fusedLocationClient
.getLastLocation()
.addOnSuccessListener(this, new OnSuccessListener<Location>() {
#Override
public void onSuccess(Location location) {
// Got last known location. In some rare situations this can be null.
if (location != null) {
lastLocation = location;
// Logic to handle location object
mMap.animateCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLngZoom(
new LatLng(location.getLatitude(),
location.getLongitude()), DEFAULT_ZOOM));
mMap.setOnMyLocationButtonClickListener(MapsActivity.this);
mMap.setMyLocationEnabled(true);
mMap.getUiSettings().setMyLocationButtonEnabled(true);
} else {
mMap.setMyLocationEnabled(false);
mMap.getUiSettings().setMyLocationButtonEnabled(false);
}
}
});
}
} catch (SecurityException e) {
Log.e("Exception: %s", e.getMessage());
}
}
MapsActivity is a listener of GoogleMap.OnMyLocationButtonClickListener and then have this code
#Override
public boolean onMyLocationButtonClick() {
// I've tried just setting the default behavior of the button, but just works after reloading
// the activity, then I've managed the click event to latest location; now it works for
// all cases.
mMap.animateCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLngZoom(
new LatLng(lastLocation.getLatitude(),
lastLocation.getLongitude()), DEFAULT_ZOOM));
return false;
}
This is the code of onMapReady
#SuppressLint("MissingPermission")
#Override
public void onMapReady(GoogleMap googleMap) {
mMap = googleMap;
mMap.setMapType(GoogleMap.MAP_TYPE_TERRAIN);
mMap.getUiSettings().setZoomControlsEnabled(true);
getMuseums();
if (!hasLocationPermission()) {
ActivityCompat.requestPermissions(this,
new String[]{Manifest.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION},
REQUEST_PERMISSION_LOCATION);
return;
}
getDeviceLocation();
}
And my actual DEFAULT_ZOOM value is 10.
I've been looking online for the past couple of weeks about this and it seems I'm not asking the right questions so posting one here. Thanks in advance for any info.
Using Android v7.1 and Google Maps API v2 I want to show a user's location on a map fragment. My question is: why does the default current location marker (blue circle in example image below) often not align with the marker I manually draw to show the user's location (green circle)? The code redraws the green marker when location is changed, so I am trying to figure out why the green marker is not being redrawn as often as the default current location marker moves.
Do I simply need to update the frequency/displacement that my LocationCallback() is getting called? Currently it is set at 500ms, with displacement of 2 meters. If this is the case, will that have significant impact on battery?
I've experimented with using onLocationChanged() instead of the fused location api's LocationCallback(), but then my manual marker doesn't get updated if the user doesn't have an internet connection.
I realize I've got something off in my code, but I guess my understanding isn't good enough that I'm managing to figure it out by myself. Thanks again in advance for any insight.

You should first add your marker in the onMapReady method. Otherwise you shall see your marker only after you move and receive a new location.
Are you sure that you are getting a valid location in OnLocationChanged?. If so, then you can try to use the refreshMap() method (specified below) in order to put any marker on the map:
// Map
private GoogleMap mMap;
// Method that clears all previous markers in the map and put a new marker with the new location coordinates.
private void refreshMap(Location location) {
// Just double-checking that the map is correctly set and that we have a valid location.
if (mMap == null || location== null) return;
// Clearing the map.
mMap.clear();
// If there is a valid Latitude and Longitude, then show the marker in that position.
if (location.getLatitude() != 0.00 || location.getLongitude() != 0.00) {
LatLng coordinates = new LatLng(location.getLatitude(), location.getLongitude());
mMap.addMarker(new MarkerOptions().position(coordinates).title("Current Position"));
mMap.moveCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLngZoom(coordinates, 16));
}
}
// OnLocationChanged
#Override
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
refreshMap(location);
}
// Setting of the variable mMap when the GoogleMap is ready.
#Override
public void onMapReady(GoogleMap googleMap) {
mMap = googleMap;
}
NOTE: Sometimes the first location returned by the "LocationServices.FusedLocationApi.requestLocationUpdates()" will be the last known location. So I recommend to you to keep listening to location updates and stop when a location different from the "last known location" arrives. You can use the method of getting the Last Known location from Fused Location in order to compare the coordinates.
Its because your mobile location information is not enabled.Enable it and the code will work
I have an app that displays the latitude, longitude, speed, and distance, in a textview above of the map. The first location is displayed but when I move to another location the textview does not update the information. I also don't know if I am calculating the distance correctly. I am not sure if onLocationChanged is called. My code is below.

As of now I am no longer working on this project anymore. I believe I was able to fix the issues I had, but I not longer have the code for this project anymore. As this post has been down voted 2 times, I don't believe that it has been very helpful to the community and so I would like to close and delete this post if possible, but there needs to be more votes to close and then delete it. Unless there is any other reason for why this post should stay open?

In your onLocationChanged() method there is no need to stop the location Service:
Remove this:
if (mGoogleApiClient != null) {
LocationServices.FusedLocationApi.removeLocationUpdates(mGoogleApiClient, this);
}
calling this immediately will stop the location service and so your onLocationChnage() will not be called.
Besides you are adding it in onPause().
#Override
public void onPause() {
super.onPause();
//stop location updates when Activity is no longer active
if (mGoogleApiClient != null) {
LocationServices.FusedLocationApi.removeLocationUpdates(mGoogleApiClient, this);
}
}

I want to use onchangelocation works,when I click any button.After clicking the button the circle with center in current location will be drawn.How can I work onchangelocation in click event in google map?
Thanks in advance
Try making use of LocationListener :
"Used for receiving notifications from the LocationManager when the
location has changed. These methods are called if the LocationListener
has been registered with the location manager service using the
requestLocationUpdates(String, long, float, LocationListener)
method.""
For the actual codes try the demo in this SO thread.
