I retrieve a quiz from a webservice and i want to render it like this,
I'm trying to use RadioButtons programmatically generated.
I have image and text quiz, I use rg.setOrientation(); to display quiz horizontaly / verticaly depends on the quizz type.
I tried to add image using Drawable but I can not put the RadioButton centered under the image. I'm only able to get this.
I can not center the text either
There is the code I wrote.
final RadioGroup rg = (RadioGroup) v.findViewById(R.id.radio_group);
final int[] try_answer = {NUMBER_OF_TRY_MAX};
if (question.getImage()) {
if (!isTablet) {
rg.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
} else {
rg.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);
}
rg.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER_HORIZONTAL);
for (int i = 0; i < answers.size(); i++) {
Answer answer = answers.get(i);
RadioButton button = new RadioButton(getContext());
db.open();
Image img = db.getImageWithURL(answer.getPicture());
db.close();
String localName = img.getImage();
String file = path + localName;
Bitmap bitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeFile(file);
Drawable d = new BitmapDrawable(getContext().getResources(), Bitmap.createScaledBitmap(bitmap, 300, 300, true));
d.setBounds(0, 0, 300, 300);
button.setCompoundDrawablesWithIntrinsicBounds(null,d,null,null);
button.setTextColor(Color.WHITE);
button.setTag(answer.right_answer);
button.setGravity(Gravity.LEFT);
button.setTextAlignment(View.TEXT_ALIGNMENT_CENTER);
button.setTextSize(TypedValue.COMPLEX_UNIT_SP, 18);
int[][] states = new int[][]{
new int[]{ android.R.attr.state_enabled}, // enabled
new int[]{-android.R.attr.state_enabled}, // disabled
new int[]{-android.R.attr.state_checked}, // unchecked
new int[]{ android.R.attr.state_checked}, // checked
new int[]{ android.R.attr.state_pressed} // pressed
};
int[] colors = new int[]{
Color.WHITE,
Color.GRAY,
Color.WHITE,
Color.BLUE,
Color.BLUE
};
ColorStateList myList = new ColorStateList(states, colors);
button.setButtonTintList(myList);
button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
if (try_answer[0] > 0) {
if ((Boolean) v.getTag()) {
displayRightAnswerImage(rg);
question.setAnswered(true);

} else {
try_answer[0]--;
if (try_answer[0] == 0) {
displayRightAnswerImage(rg);
question.setAnswered(true);
checkIfAllQuestionsAnswered();
} else {
int selected = rg.getCheckedRadioButtonId();
RadioButton rb = (RadioButton) v.findViewById(selected);
Drawable[] drawables = rb.getCompoundDrawables();
Drawable draw = drawables[1];
draw.setAlpha(125);
Toast.makeText(getContext(), "il reste " + try_answer[0] + " essais", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
}
}
}
});
rg.addView(button);
}
} else {
rg.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
for (int i = 0; i < answers.size(); i++) {
Answer answer = answers.get(i);
final RadioButton button = new RadioButton(getContext());
rg.addView(button);
button.setText(answer.getTitle());
button.setTextColor(Color.WHITE);
button.setTag(answer.right_answer);
button.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER_HORIZONTAL);
button.setTextSize(TypedValue.COMPLEX_UNIT_SP, 18);
button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
if (try_answer[0] > 0) {
if ((Boolean) v.getTag()) {
displayRightAnswer(rg);
question.setAnswered(true);
checkIfAllQuestionsAnswered();
} else {
try_answer[0]--;
if (try_answer[0] == 0) {
displayRightAnswer(rg);
question.setAnswered(true);
checkIfAllQuestionsAnswered();
} else {
Toast.makeText(getContext(), "il reste " + try_answer[0] + " essais", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
}
}
}
});
}
}
return v;
How can I get to make the display look similar to the first screen.
Is it possible or should I use another component than radiobutton to render it properly ?
Use Relativelayout.LayoutParams object and add rules to it. Check this

How do I sort the buttons generated from the following code alphabetically base on string values.
Currently they are listed as the buttons are produced 0 through to 5.
The list is in an xml string file, want to eb alphabetical so I can just add more to the file as needs be, and the programming just sort it alphabetically which suits me.
Not been able to find anything yet , but I am gueesing I may need to define the list in the file and sort that list can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Okay, so I can see the code is doing something but the sort order isn't changing and the String s is showing up in intellij as not used, : new code below:-
marked the sections with // here
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
ArrayList<String> theStrings = new ArrayList<>();//Here
scrollviewManuf = new ScrollView(this);
LinearLayout linearlayout = new LinearLayout(this);
linearlayout.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
scrollviewManuf.addView(linearlayout);
for (int i = 0; i < 28; i++) {
LinearLayout linearManuf = new LinearLayout(this);
linearManuf.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);
linearlayout.addView(linearManuf);
Manufb = new Button(this);
int id = getResources().getIdentifier("Manuf" + i, "string", getPackageName());
String Manuf = getResources().getString(id);
theStrings.add(Manuf); /// Here
Manufb.setText(Manuf);
Manufb.setId(i);
Manufb.setTextSize(30);
Manufb.setPadding(0, 0, 0, 0);
// b.setTypeface(Typeface.SERIF,Typeface.ITALIC);
Manufb.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT));
linearManuf.addView(Manufb);
Manufb.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
String PManuf =Manuf;
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
String SManuf= Manuf.replaceAll("&","").replaceAll(" ","").replaceAll("/","").replaceAll(" / ","").replaceAll("/ ","").replaceAll(" /","".replaceAll("&",""));
//Panel= getResources().getString(id);
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), Manuf+" Selected" , Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
Intent passIntent = new Intent(Manufacturers.this,panels.class);
passIntent.putExtra("SManuf",SManuf);
passIntent.putExtra("PManuf",PManuf);
startActivity(passIntent);
}
} );
} Collections.sort(theStrings); //here
for (String s : theStrings) { //here
//...
this.setContentView(scrollviewManuf); }//here
}
}
The following code is looping each time it loops its adding an extra repeated option.
ie. Cat,dog,mouse, donkey correct list is the list but I am getting, Cat, dog.dog, mouse,mouse,mouse, donkey, donkey, donkey,donkey but still no sorting, still working on it but here is the code.
ArrayList<String> theStrings = new ArrayList<>();
for (int i = 0; i < 28; i++) {
int id = getResources().getIdentifier("Manuf" + i, "string", getPackageName());
String Manuf = getResources().getString(id);
theStrings.add(Manuf);
Collections.sort(theStrings);
for (String s : theStrings) {
LinearLayout linearManuf = new LinearLayout(this);
linearManuf.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);
linearlayout.addView(linearManuf);
Manufb = new Button(this);
Manufb.setText(Manuf);
Manufb.setId(i);
Manufb.setTextSize(30);
Manufb.setPadding(0, 0, 0, 0);
// b.setTypeface(Typeface.SERIF,Typeface.ITALIC);
Manufb.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT));
linearManuf.addView(Manufb);
Manufb.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
String PManuf = Manuf;
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
String SManuf = Manuf.replaceAll("&", "").replaceAll(" ", "").replaceAll("/", "").replaceAll(" / ", "").replaceAll("/ ", "").replaceAll(" /", "".replaceAll("&", ""));
//Panel= getResources().getString(id);
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), Manuf + " Selected", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
Intent passIntent = new Intent(Manufacturers.this, panels.class);
passIntent.putExtra("SManuf", SManuf);
passIntent.putExtra("PManuf", PManuf);
startActivity(passIntent);
}
});
}
}
this.setContentView(scrollviewManuf);
}
}
Read it into a list, sort it and loop over it:
ArrayList<String> theStrings = new ArrayList<>();
for (int i = 0; i < 28; i++) {
int id = getResources().getIdentifier("Manuf" + i, "string", getPackageName());
String Manuf = getResources().getString(id);
theStrings.add(Manuf);
}
Collections.sort(theStrings);
for (String s : theStrings) {
LinearLayout linearManuf = new LinearLayout(this);
linearManuf.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);
linearlayout.addView(linearManuf);
Manufb = new Button(this);
Manufb.setText(s); // <-- use the String here
Manufb.setId(i);
Manufb.setTextSize(30);
Manufb.setPadding(0, 0, 0, 0);
// b.setTypeface(Typeface.SERIF,Typeface.ITALIC);
Manufb.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT));
linearManuf.addView(Manufb);
...

and here is the Exception:
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: length=2; index=2
the clicks is the number of times that user click the button. at first it's ok but when i try and add some more inputs it crashes. can you tell why this is happening?
index of array is always less than length as index starts form 0 whereas length from 1 therefore X[clicks-1] is causing the problem
What is the initial value of click variable.
Can you post more code related. And for the first time if click is 0 then
X[clicks-1] = new int[] {intetIn1, intetIn2, 1};
this says you are store these value at click-1 th position which is not even initialized.. so
int X[] = new int[]{intetIn1, intetIn2, 1};
would be better.
I visit so many solutions regarding this issue but can't catch it clearly .When ever I run the project first time it works perfectly but when I run it second time then it fire this error in logCat
The specified child already has a parent. You must call removeView() on the child's parent first
where is the error in that code segment ?where should I change in code. any suggestion is acceptable .Thanks in advance ..

You're adding mImageView to the layout multiple times. A view can only be part of 1 ViewGroup. You need to either add it only once, or create a second ImageView if you really want 2 of them in the layout.
I have 3 row in table, where every row has 3 checkbox. I want to check appropriate CheckBox according to its id.
