When I run this code on my device, additional space appears below the imageView. In the end, I would like my images to fulfill the greatest amount of space on the screen without distorting their dimensions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I ended up playing around with attributes and I found that android:adjustViewBounds set to true fixed my problem. I don't know exactly this attribute does, but it worked! Thanks again.
Replace the imageview with text view with height wrap content.
If the space is still there, then the problem is with the scroll view, else imageview has problem.
you can set the ImageView`XML (android:scaleType="centerInside or fitCenter")

UPD. I have problem with RelativeLayout "preview_container"
From this layout I expect its width would wrap, if ImageView's width doesn't fill whole screen and be on the screen center. And it works nice on GN3, but on my AZ2 I get space at right side (No reputation to insert image, it's here http://i.imgur.com/cSujbAp.png)
UPD2. What I expect: RelativeLayout wraped correctly, so I don't see background. Example from my GN3 here (http://i.imgur.com/vKGQq8r.jpg). Transparent background also can't help because after that I need to get drawing cache of this layout and work with it
I know about alignParent issue, but I don't use it now and my extra views placed correct.

Your preview_top_text has the width set to match_parent so it means that, since her container is the same of the image, it will stretch way to contain also the textview and not only the imageview.
Add the android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" parameter to the imageview and it should be centered.

And I'll set the weight property of the LinearLayout's children, to set the background width.
My problem is, when the text in the width is too long (as you can see in the third element). Then the background isn't scales to the bottom of the element.

Try to add this to your TextView

This don't let your textview has more than two lines and put an ellipsis on the end.
Maybe this would be a solution.

One suggestion would be add layout_alignTop="#+id/delivery_list_item_mapBtn" and layout_alignBottom="#+id/delivery_list_item_mapBtn" to the View and make it always fit the image height.
Try changing

You don't have delivery_list_item_statusBtn. But i see red part even without changing this. Try it and if it doesn't help please post code of your adapter.

it'll shift content of scroll view to 10 dp upward not the VIEW.
Try NestedScrollView instead.
I have had this problem several times myself and while simply adding extra padding to the bottom to hide the fact that the scroll view is going 'behind' the bottom bar works, a better solution is to use a NestedScrollView as mentioned in this answer: https://stackoverflow.com/a/36871385/6573127
For me I have another specific solution if the parent layout of the ScrollView is ConstraintLayout. If so, we don't need to set the padding or margin.

I was suffering from the same problem. Try to add more padding to the bottom of scrollView.It works for me.

As you can see the vertical alignment of the imagebutton is not right.
why is it doing this.
Have you tried running this on the emulator and using the hierarchyviewer tool (in the "tools" folder of the SDK. Click on your app in the list and select "Load View Hierarchy" ) to inspect the elements in question? Have a look at the margins and padding of both the problem control & its container. Also look at the widths of the various components and it may give you a clue as to where the problem is occurring.
Also check that your drawable in #drawable/type_text does not contain any space around it which could be causing a perceived offset (unlikely, I think).
I have occasionally seen odd problems scaling images, so if #drawable/type_text is not 48x48 pixels, try manually scaling the image to the desired size in Photoshop / GIMP / PSP and see if that makes a difference.
Alternatively try using gravity to try to centre your control:
