How to create notification inside an activity in android?

I have a task in which I have to show Notification for an incoming message inside an activity using BroadcastReceiver with the address and content on the SMS. Now I have to click in order to insert the values in sms in database. When the task is finished i want it to clear from the activity. Is it possible to create notification for incoming sms inside an Activity?

How to reload phonegap index.html file on notification click

I done an android application using Phonegap and Java. I got notification successfully in application , after clicking notification app is start from background.I want to reload my Index.html file after notification click. How can i handle this issue ?

how to launch an activity via notification received by GCM and set text in that activitiy android?

I have developed an app in which I used GCM service to get notification, now when I received notification I want to launch an activity and in that activity I have to set a text received by GCM to a textview.My problem is that the activity which is getting launch by tapping on notification is able to set text only when the app is in foreground but not when the app is in background.

Intent is losing values in extras

I have a GCMIntentService where I am setting details for the intent and all when the user clicks on the notification. My code snippet relevant to this is below:

Whenever CustomTabActivity.class is opened, the getExtras() call is always null. Why is it that I am not able to get the values from intent?

I found the bulk of the problem here. Turns out that since I had singleTop for the activity, the intent from getIntent() was the old one. This code works:

onNewIntent gets called when the user clicks the notification.

Android how to start an apk download from the notification drawer

I've an app that i can push notifications on to via GCM. I receive the notification in the notification drawer but when i click on it, an activity from the app is started(EntryActivity). What i'd like to happen is if the message in the notification is a url to the .apk file eg 'http://path_to_file.apk', then i'd like the file to start downloading.
Below is the code that generates the notification, is there something i need to add or change to start the download?
