Changing a variable from Notification Method

I added a notification feature to my app, when the user clicks on the notification it sends him to a certain activity in my app, but I also want it to change an integer variable number, I tried defining the variable static and do:
ActivityName.Variable = ActivityName.Variable + 1 or ActivityName.Variable++;
And it actually worked! but only when I change the date on my phone manually, so when the user sees the notification after waiting 1 day (the notification is daily) and clicks on it...he get to the activity but with no increase in the variable.

Notification comes again when app starts

As a beginner, I wrote a code for notification. I put that code in MainActivity.
Now the problem is, my app shows notification at sharp 8 AM. But During other time, if i restart my app, it shows notification again(at any other time). Basically I am not cancelling it notification as it appears. Though I have put AutoCancel true. Am i missing something?

Notification disappears then reappears when clicked on?

It goes off at the appropriate time (9:48 on wednesday for testing purposes) but when notification is clicked on, it appears again at the start of the app. It does disappear for a second but then reemerges. Even though it is the time when clicked on. Is there a better way of doing this or am I missing something? Thanks for any help.

Notification sent to user at a specific time Android

I'm trying to send a notification to a user at a specific time using an Alarm Manager. Basically, nothing happens at all and to me the code looks fine. My code for the Alarm Manager is below:

The Toast which is set in the Notification class also doesn't come up. I don't know if it's something really silly that I'm missing but any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Try to put your notification code in the onStartCommand function instead of onCreate.

Writing the alarmmanager code in the onCreate method of the LAUNCHER activity of the app solved my problem

Update time for AlarmManager (Android)

I use AlarmManager to display a notification for an event at the event date and time.
But how can I update the time the AlarmManager sends the PendingIndent to my app, when an event is updated?

I found the solution.. I turns out that the second argument to getBroadcast(Context context, int requestCode, Intent intent, int flags) makes the difference, even when the documentation says
requestCode Private request code for the sender (currently not used).
When a request id is used for each event, the alarm is updated and alarms are created for each event.
The reason is that with two different request codes, the filterEquals(Intent) will be false. Documentation of AlarmManager set(...) says:
If the time occurs in the past, the alarm will be triggered
immediately. If there is already an alarm for this Intent scheduled
(with the equality of two intents being defined by
filterEquals(Intent)), then it will be removed and replaced by this
one.
I also changed PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT to PendingIndent.FLAG_CANCEL_CURRENT.
