I am facing this problem when i am starting my emulator from android studio avd manager. it shows the list of my virtual devices. now when i start the emulator. it shows progress to opens and disappeared in a second without throwing/showing any error.
i am using latest android studio version.
system config : Intel core 2 duo
ram : 6 GB
is this problem cause of system config? Please write your answer and feel free to ask.
I had similar issues (the simulator progress would open then disappear) on my Mac El Capital. Downloading the latest HAXM and RE-INSTALLING it fixed.

I have updated the video drivers and solved :
1. emulator problem
2. genymotion "player.exe stopped working" problem.
You should use Genymotion replace for default Android Emulator.
There are some various ways to solve this kind of problems:
-> after restarting android studio, if u are facing same problem then try below ones.
kill the adb server through adb shell and then start adb and then launch your emulator.
2.First uncheck Enable ADB Integration and launch emulator and then check Enable ADB Integration.
3.launch your adb and emulator by Debug app from run .
4.maintain the targetSdkVersion corresponding to your emulator
5.uninstall existing emulators and create new one.
delete your adb application and and download new one.
I had this problem because I had many (20) devices saved in my AVD with lots of memory allocated to each (1GB) and my laptop was lower than normal on memory itself.
I cleared out the devices in AVD and started over and it began to work normally again.

I know that on a normal device I have to authorize the debugging process, but Authorizing it on an emulator is my first time.
I just installed my first emulator on my home pc to do some work stuff, and this poped up.
Any idea what is the cause or is it normal for android o api 26 google play SDK?
PS: I am using windows version at home.
Issue Resolved.
Step 1- Made a new emulator(Any).
Step 2- then fixed another problem the black screen by changing the settings to use hardware graphics.(Dunno if this problem was related to the bug)
And Bam every thing worked.
when this happens you can request permission through the emulator
demonstrative video
But on the android Q api 29 emulator, when USB debugging is requested, the alert is gone before it can be confirmed, and the emulator bugs, preventing the emulator from connecting. I am not able to solve, just resetting and losing everything to solve.
TOOLS-->AVDMANAGER
Click on tooltip on the right side, you can see wipe data before doing that turn off your emulator.
This Worked for me.
I was facing the same issue and tried all most all the suggested steps but following worked for me :
Steps:
Delete all the emulators with google play.
Create new emulator without google Play .
Now if you run the emulator, no authorization issue will be there
Or
An another approach to fix this issue is :
Steps:
let your emulator launch
Go to settings and enable the "USB debugger" option as you normally do in real time devices(5 click on Developer Options->build number)
I found a mismatch between the .android/adbkey* files associated with the user running the process running adbd, and the same file associated with the user running the emulator.
I don't know about windows, but this is possible in Linux if you run adb as root to work around file permissions.
Fix: As the user running the emulator, type this into a command shell:
adb kill-server; adb devices
Delete your Emulador, then Create an emulador without google play services, it can be Android Q (Android 11).
It worked for me.
For this to work for me I had to start a new emulator from android studio with Oreo instead of Pie as a system image.
Just delete the ~/.android folder.
I also face the same issue and its generated because I copied my SDK from one PC to another PC with Same configuration(Software and Hardware). Now I create an emulator on Pie and also tried Oreo but unauthorised comes for both.
Solution:
I delete my build tools, platform tools, emulator only not complete SDK and download all of them again. Now I create my emulator for all type of Version and now no unauthorised error for all type of emulators.
Keep the Emulator on
Delete android folder using
rm -rf ~/.android
Then restart adb
adb kill-server
You should get a prompt on the emulator to allow USB Debugging
View the device status
adb devices
This should fix the issue, I used this to fix when I was having issues launching the emulator from expo when making a react native app.
Had the same issue, none of the answers here worked, eventually found the following worked for me:
Create a new emulator without Google Play and start it, visual studio detects it on first start and the device will be authorised.
I fixed this issue on my Arch Linux while I'm developing Flutter apps, by deleting all of the emulator devices and create a new emulator without the Google Play Store.
Also, in the Graphics setting don't forget to choose Hardware Graphics instead of Automatic and the device will be available and detected.
Create an emulador without google play services,
it can be Android Q (Android 11). It worked for me.
I fixed it on Win10. When adding new device, choose Android 11 (without Google play)
A couple of days ago (15th April 2017) I updated Android Studio with all the latest updates. Now when I try to run an app, the emulator window opens but I just get a message "waiting for device to come online". Eventually this times out and I get a message "installing APK", where it just seems to get stuck. I have searched the site and tried various advice including:
Deleting all the emulators and re-creating
Turning off the emulator in SDK manager, re-starting Android Studio and turning the emulator on again
turning off instant run
re-booting my PC, in case some update needed a re-start
The emulator I have is Nexus5X API23.5554
I have also deleted my app and created a completely new "hello World" app that does nothing but display one line of text, but I still get the same problem.
Has anyone any other ideas?
I ran into this issue too. It seems to be a bug with recent changes to the Android emulator. There is a workaround:
Launch the emulator independently from the Android Virtual Device (AVD) manager (there's an icon in the main Android Studio window)
Run your app. You'll notice the device name has changed from whatever the emulator is called to some generic name like 'Android x86 API 25'.
The app will run correctly on the emulator. You'll notice in logcat that the device name is 'emulator unknown'.
Hopefully Google will fix this over the next few days.
I couldn't get any emulator going at all, with no error messages, just 'waiting for device to come online'.
When tried to stop and start adb.exe in terminal:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
it said that adb is outdated. I had latest adb version downloded but Android Studio was trying to use some other file which was older version.
Finally, I checked environment variables and removed paths to:
C:\NVPACK\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
and
C:\NVPACK\android-sdk-windows
as the newest version of SDK platform-tools I had on drive E: not C:, and is all working now.
Enzokie - Thanks. Nothing there seems to work, though. As a novice, I always assume that if something is wrong, it's my fault, but maybe not this time! I shall do as you suggest and raise it with Android unless anyone else suggests something that works.
My work around was to use a Nexus 5 instead of Nexus 5X.
If you don't know how to make an new emulator its tools>android>AVD manager> create new virtual device. Then just pick a new emulator and hit next until you're finished or customize it.
Resetting the ADB did the trick for me.
For Mac, In Android Studio -> Tools -> Android -> Android Device Monitor -> Under devices -> Down arrow there will be reset ADB option.
What worked for me was to wipe the emulator data. You can do this from AVD manager:
Tools -> AVD Manager -> Right click on virtual device - > Wipe Data
Hi I had the same Problem...so I did this:
Start your emulator, you will get the "wating for device to come online" error msg.
Wait till the emulator boots, then stop the process.
Now, on the emulator go to settings and make your "device" (emulator) to a developer device.
Check this, if you dont know how to do it -> https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-get-developer-options-on-android/
Then go on "Developer options" (in settings) and switch on the "usb-debugging" option. Remeber you PCs fingerprint.
Hope this was helpfull....
I have been trying to use android studio emulator but I can not run my App on the Emulator. When I Run my App it shows the emulator with following details:
Hax is enabled
Hax ram_size 0x40000000
HAX is working and emulator runs in fast virt mode.
Console on port 5554; ADB on port 5555
After that it takes to next TAB Launching app and shows waiting for the device to come online. After that it shows error:
Error while waiting for device: Time out after 300 seconds waiting for emulator to come online.
Anyone know any solution.
Although there could be various reasons for this behaviour....
Mostly it may be due to error in system images or the API version you are using
better you download latest system images and make sure the compatibilty of API version you are using.
If problem exists
I would like to suggest some fixes:
Try them
1)Uninstall/Reinstall Android SDK to folder.
OR
2) delete the emulator and create another emulator targeted at the appropriate API Level.
OR
3)create a new Virtual Device.
OR
4)set "Max VM application heap size" hardware property to 192 or higher and pick the QVGA skin.
hope it helps.
I was also facing this timeout error. Here is the solution worked for me
Launch Task Manager -> Search for adb.exe in process list->End the process->Try relaunching the emulator it will start.
This helped me:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avcOIrtimMU
Click on app: edit configurations;
In Launch Options: choose Specific Activity
In Activity: specify your main class: com.example.budgetapp.MainActivity
And, run.
This Worked for me:
GoTo SDK Manager -> SDK Tools -> Check that the android emulator has the latest version and If doesn't install the updates.
I had the same error described here.
Hope This Helps
Check updates.... Emulator had an update.
After I updated worked fine.
I went through a lot of posts. But none of them seemed to work for me. Every time I tried to start the emulator, the process seemed to be "not responding" after a minute or so. I tried restarting my PC, adb, created new devices, even re-installed Android Emulator, but nothing worked.
Surprisingly enough, what worked though was to move the emulator out of Android Studio.
Go to Preferences -> search for Emulator -> Uncheck Launch in a tool window
I am using Mac M1 Pro with Android Studio Bumblebee | 2021.1.1
Open the AVD Manager.
Create a new AVD or edit an existing AVD.
In the Verify Configuration page, specify the Emulated Performance: Graphics change to sofware or hadware
good luck
I tried everything here and other questions too, but the only solution for me was to create a new AVD.
Also downgraded from Pixel3XL to Pixel2, not sure if it matters. (Kept same android version)
I have followed following tut to install messaging-simulator.apk on my Nexus 7 emulator of adt sdk...
http://www.orhancanceylan.com/installing-and-testing-apk-files-to-the-android-emulator-on-mac/
But, after the device (virtual) is launched (which is annoyingly slow), no further action could be performed from terminal as it gets stuck or no progress is shown. (Basically, I am stuck after ./android command. Nothing can be entered in terminal after that. How do i resolve this?
If you can't type a thing in the terminal - just open a new Terminal window and type it there.
A few tips that will speed up your emulator
Make your emulator as intel x86. and check Use host GPU
Install HAXM from the sdk manager
make the settings like this:
I use mac to develop Android.
Thanks a ton to #Uriel Frankel. Yet, all those tips and tricks given by him did not work out for me due to low memory in my macbook.
So I have used Genymotion emulator(http://techapple.net/2014/05/3-best-android-emulators-for-mac-os-macbook-run-and-install-android-app-on-your-mac-os-x-macbook-airpro/) instead of default android emulator and successfully launched the app by installing it.
You can all try above solution first and if it did not work out, use Genymotion, it's cool :)
When I try to launch Android emulator, it crashes on Mac OS X. It was working some time ago, but now it isn't and I don't have an idea why.
Crash log: http://pastebin.com/04MjCqaS
Terminal log in verbose mode: http://pastebin.com/L6y6rUr0
Same issue here, I'm running a mac mini with 8GB of RAM and MacOS Lion. It used to work with the old AVD with some random crashes every now and then but since the last update to APi 17 it's a pain in the neck.
The ADT bundle doesn't work at all. After tweaking the memory limits on eclipse.ini file it throws random memory errors. Also it's not been able to download and install the m2e (maven to eclipse) plugin.
I moved to IntelliJ and I'm able to launch AVD manager but none of the "old" created devices work. If I create a new one and I launch it it works until I close it, then I have to restart the Mac and create a new device. Also it randomly shows errors when I want to delete those old created virtual devices.
Also the DDMS fails to start. I launch it, shows its icon on the Dock but it doesn't respond until I force close.
What a Nightmare.
** EDIT **
I found at android dev bug tracker this issue when you're running 2 screens: here
This is happening to me with the android emulator. I solved it like this:
cd ~/.android/avd
ls *.avd
Now choose the emulator that is crashing and
cd name_of_the_emulator.avd
touch emulator-user.ini
vi emulator-user.ini
And now reset window.x, that's window.x=0
exit and run the emulator.
If you move and close the emulator to the secondary screen it will crash the next time you want to run it.
Kill your Docker process
One problem I have seen multiple time is with Docker. Android Emulator crashes when Docker is running on Mac.
I was following the PhoneGap "Getting Started" guide for Android, and when I got to "Deploy to Emulator," after I created a new AVD, my Mac would crash and reboot. I stumbled on this thread, but thought it worth mentioning that what actually solved the problem for me was an Intel patch for the Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager located here: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-hardware-accelerated-execution-manager
This is because Android SDK use some deprecated libraries of Mac OS X. I have the same problem (sometimes even kernel panic) before I start use android device. Maybe in future versions of Android SDK this problem will be fixed.
I just updated the Android SDK manager to the latest Android 4.2 (API 17) level updates, and now all my old AVD's crash. The newly created one using API 17 works, however.
I have the same issue. You can try to create a new AVD with the appropriate API level. I am able to run these the first time(s) after creating. That seems to be a memory error.
My AVDs are able to run the first time after reboot. After this they keeps crashing.
I had the same issue using mac 10.6 and 2 monitors one through a usb adapter to HDMI.
I have tried all of this suggestions and nothing did work.
I ended up creating a new user into my mac and with the same android sdk and same eclipse with a new workspace did work.
I'm not sure whether just creating a new workspace would do the tweak, I didn't try it.
for those who come across to this annoy issue worth to try it before switch to a new account.
You can delete your emulators from ~/.android/avd
Then create new emulators.
