Transfer offline map data to another app? - android

I am developing android app which is based on offline navigation system the reason behind using offline map is, internet is very expensive on our country. So, I am thinking of Here Map.
My use case is to share downloaded map file into other devices through the wifi direct P2P and load it in the absence of internet connection.
So, my question is:
1. Is it possible to transfer downloaded offline map file from one app to another app.
2. Will it be any litigation issues?
Thanks in advance.

If you have two apps, both using HERE maps the Android SDK already shares the same maps database. There is no need to move the map data.
If you transfer the map data from one device to another that is not documented nor supported. It may lead to some un-forseen issues and will not be supported by the HERE team.

Is it possible to extract data from a Google Map that is embedded within an Android app?

I've seen a lot of posts about being able to scrape data from a Google Map embedded in a website, however I haven't been able to find any information about scraping from a Google Map embedded within an Android app, and was wondering if this is possible.
I thought perhaps it may be possible using an emulator on a PC, but not sure. Keen for anyone's input.
Thanks.

I am developing an Android app with ArcGIS offline map support. For that which one I have to use? MPK or MMPK package? How to download it?

I am developing an Android app with ArcGIS offline map support. To work with an offline map in android what I have to download? MPK or MMPK? By which tool I can generate the corresponding package? Does anyone have previous experience on the same? I am using com.esri.arcgisruntime:arcgis-android:100.7.0 dependancy. The documentation are totally confusing for me. We have already purchased a Development builder starter license too. Any help would be appreciated.
There are two main ways to use a map offline.
Create a Web Map in ArcGIS Online and take that offline. This does not involve an MMPK.
OR: Create a MMPK using ArcGIS Pro (a desktop product for Windows)
I expect you might want to consider option 1?
Create and save a web map in ArcGIS Online.
In the Settings ensure it's enabled for Offline. You should also ensure the layers you're using are offline enabled.
Use the OfflineMapTask to generate and download the offline map.
This is explained here, but you might also find this technical session helpful.
If you need to go the other route of generating an MMPK, you will need ArcGIS Pro.
MPKs are not a format that Runtime supports.

Hybride Mobile App (Phonegap) map offline and routing

Android app with offline map and database

I made an android application with Google Maps using Maps API v2 and the app is getting the data from JSON generated by PHP from MySQL database. This works great while phone is connected to the internet.
My question is what is the best way to make app usable offline as well. I need just one small area for offline availability and I can download JSON to the phone storage and parse it but the map part is my main concern. As much as I read this won't be possible with Google Maps but what are the alternatives?
There's an open source Library available out there named OSMDroid which replaces Google MapView classes. It also includes a modular tile provider system with support for numerous online and offline tile sources and overlay support with built-in overlays for plotting icons, tracking location, and drawing shapes.
You can follow this link.
OR
You can follow Mapsforge which provides free and open software for OpenStreetMap-based applications, offers a library for ad-hoc map rendering on Android devices

Sync data between Android App and Chrome App using Google Drive

I want to write a small Android App and also a small Google Chrome App, which should keep their data synchronized. I decided to use Google Drive to synchronize the data.
Like Google Keep seems to do it :
Google Keep saves all your notes to your Google Drive, so everything is backed up and available, should anything happen to the original device or computer on which the notes were made.
Currently I am only working on the Android App. After searching for a way to create a hidden folder to store the data I found the Application Folder.
While this seems to be perfect for my Android App my question is: can I also access this app folder from a google chrome app?
If not is there a good way to synchronize data between an Android App and a Chrome App using Google Drive?
Thanks for your help
"question is: can I also access this app folder from a google chrome app?"
yes
"If not is there a good way to synchronize data between an Android App and a Chrome App using Google Drive?"
There are numerous sync strategies you can employ, eg ...
Full refresh
Poll changes feed
Set up a push notification
Which is right for you depends on your specific preferences
Chrome Apps for Mobile (using the cca tool) have an implementation of chrome.syncFileSystem that will use Drive storage to sync data between a chrome desktop and hybrid android app automatically for you!
The downside is that chrome.syncFileSystem does not currently use Drive Application Data folder (it wasn't available when we implemented the API).
The upside is, if you only care about syncing data, and not necessarily how it is synced, and you already want to implement a chrome app anyway, using the cca tool should really be an awesome solution for you.
