How to hide BottomNavigationView when recylerview scrolls up

Hello there I want to hide bottom nav when recylerview scrolls up but not when the recylerview is scrolled down and when the recylerview stop I want the bottom nav to appear
also like a slide animation like how a bottom sheet has
I have one main activity in which I have given bottom nav and a fragment container as an Include the fragment container contains all of my fragments

how to navigation bar at the bottom

I have tied using this code..

I got it! It's fixed and not affecting with scrolling root layout is Relative Layout.

Bottom menu overlaps content in Android

I have problem with BottomNavigationViewEx: menu overlaps the bottom part of my activity. I wanted to fix that by adding bottom margin to my content (in that case in ScrollView), but I don't know what is the actual height of BottomNavigationViewEx menu, and even if I would know it, I'm not sure if it is the same (in dp) in all devices. Below my code:

How to make the content of my scroll view shorter, to avoid overlaping with bottom menu?

I got this to work by adding:

Why don't you set a value for ScrollView layout_height = "wrap_content". Currently you are setting it to match parent/fill_parent(deprecated) and that is stretching it's content to the height of your layout, in this case ConstraintLayout. If this doesn't help try replacing ConstraintLayout with vertically oriented LinearLayout

You can do one thing , set the fixed height for bottom menu and set margin bottom to Scrollview, then bottommenu will not overlap your layout.

I want my "bottom sheet" to act as such and can expand. My ultimate goal is to add a RecyclerView inside the BottomSheet.

To use the BottomSheet, it should be a child of the CoordinatorLayout. Here I have used relative layout as a parent layout for bottom navigation to stay at the bottom and then CoordinatorLayout above bottom navigation.

Wrap the two elements inside a linear layout. Not sure how coordinator layout behaves but I think it will not allow you to "order" elements (similar to frame layout).

As far as I have understood your question, you want the RecyclerView to be shown in your bottom sheet. That is what makes the problem a lot easier. Let me tell you how.
You need to have a fixed height for your bottom navigation like this.

Now in your bottom sheet, configure the RecyclerView with a clipToPadding attribute in it. Which will have some padding at the bottom of your RecyclerView. The idea is to have nothing in the covered area of the RecyclerView which is coming out with the bottom sheet.
Here's how you should declare your RecyclerView in your bottom sheet.

So simply:
Put everything in RelativeLayout
Put BottomSheet in CoordinatorLayout
Set the BottomNavigation property "alignParentBottom" to true
Make new xml file in /res/value and put

Elevation not working on BottomNavigationView

The elevation on my BottomNavigationView isn't woking, when I start my app all the other UI components get their specific elevation but the BottomNavigationView.

Note: no color is transparent.

You should use the namespace xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto" and use the app:elevation = "8dp" instead of android:elevation="8dp"

Shadow is drawn downwards (from the bottom of the view), you can see that android:elevation="8dp" is applied if you try to show Snackbar, you won't be able to see it.
If you want to add shadow that will be shown from the top of the BottomNavigationView you need to draw it manually.
