Admob ad won't disappear when editing text in Fragment Activity - android

Admob is blocking EditText when user wants to enter a value. I introduced this code but it is still not working.
iAge = (EditText) v.findViewById(R.id.edAge);
iIncome= (EditText) v.findViewById(R.id.edIncome);
iAge.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
mAdView.setVisibility(View.GONE);
} else {
mAdView.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
}
}
});
iIncome.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
mAdView.setVisibility(View.GONE);
} else {
mAdView.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
}
}
});

clean text in an edittext by pressing another edittext

I have a small problem with Edittext, I have two edittext and when I press an edittext the other must be cleaned, try to do it with isFocusable () but I can't, who can help me?
public void loadED(View view) {
if (edt4.isFocusable()) {
edt3.setText("");
} else {
if (edt3.isFocusable()) {
edt4.setText("");
}
}
}
Use an OnFocusChangeListener applied to each EditText:
edt4.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
edt3.getText().clear();
}
}
});
edt3.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
edt4.getText().clear();
}
}
});

How to display view in foreground based on focus?

JAVA CODE:
mEdtTextPickup.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if(hasFocus){
mLayoutDrop.invalidate();
mEdtTextPickup.bringToFront();
}
}
});
mEdtTextDrop.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if(hasFocus){
mLayoutPickup.invalidate();
mEdtTextDrop.bringToFront();
}
}
});
`
I have two layouts in my application Source and Destination in which one overlaps the other inside a FrameLayout.(just like the attached image)
Now how do i bring destination layout on top of source layout animated when it is focused. I googled a lot but found no solutions.
You can use a focus change listener to identify when the field is focused and then bringToFront to bring the view above the others.
destinationEditText.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
edittext.bringToFront();
}
}
});

How can I clear the EditText with onClick when the cursor is focussed on another EditText?

I have two EditText widgets(editText1 and editText2) both has values populated by a button and the cursor is focussed on editText1. I have the listeners on both editText as shown in the code snippet below. With the cursor on editText1, it takes two clicks/touch to clear editText2. How can I clear editText2 with a single click/touch?
tipPercent.setOnClickListener(new EditText.OnClickListener(){
public void onClick(View view){
try{
tipPercent.setText("");
}
splitTip.setOnClickListener(new EditText.OnClickListener(){
public void onClick(View view){
try{
splitTip.setText("");
}
Screenshot of the EditText and click event
try this..
editText.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
//clear the edittext
} else {
//set the value when hasFocus is not
}
}
});
Try this:
tipPercent.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if(hasFocus){
splitTip.setText("");
}
}
});
splitTip.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if(hasFocus){
tipPercent.setText("");
}
}
});
If i understand your question
you need to clear editText2 when its focus? then you need to use setOnFocusChangeListener when editText get focus or lost focus you may clear editText
editText2.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus) {
//clear editText when editext get focus
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Got the focus", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
} else {
//clear editText when editext lost focus
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Lost the focus", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
}
});
Try this //Kotlin
private fun editTextClear(currentET: EditText, targetET: EditText) {
currentET.setFocusableInTouchMode(true)
currentET.setFocusable(true)
targetET.clearComposingText()
targetET.setFocusable(false)
}
//Now call this method onClick()
first_et.setOnClickListener {
editTextClear(first_et, second_et)
}
second_et.setOnClickListener {
editTextClear(second_et, first_et)
}
If you try to set focusable="false" for second_et you can single click on second_et from first time only to empty first_et
Hope this solves your problem
Try This:
/*EditText1*/
tipPercent.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
tipPercent.setText("");
}
});
/*EditText2*/
splitTip.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
splitTip.setText("");
}
});
onFocusListener will work as this will allow you to clear the text in one click, as onClickListener is not made for this kind of purpose
Hope it helps

How can I detect focused EditText in android?

I have a number of EditText elements in my page along with two buttons. I want the user to touch on any one EditText field and click any button to insert a certain value into that very EditText field they touched. Giving input using the keypad is not allowed. Please help me to do this.
You can use View.OnFocusChangeListener to detect if any view (edittext) gained or lost focus.
for (EditText view : editList){
view.setOnFocusChangeListener(focusListener);
}
....
private OnFocusChangeListener focusListener = new OnFocusChangeListener() {
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
if (hasFocus){
focusedView = v;
} else {
focusedView = null;
}
}
}
This goes in your activity or fragment or wherever you have the EditTexts. The .... is just saying that you can put it anywhere else in the class. And obviously you would need to create an array with them in it, thus the editList.
This works for me. It returns a boolean.
myEditText.hasFocus()
One thing that you can do is declare a global variable evalue which will tell you which is the last selected EditText by using onTouchListener and then based on the value of evalue, you can set the text value to the edittext by button click. hope you understood.
the code for it can be as follow:
EditText e1,e2;
Button b1,b2;
String evalue;
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
e1=(EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText1);
e2=(EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText2);
b1=(Button)findViewById(R.id.button1);
b2=(Button)findViewById(R.id.button2);
e1.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener()
{
public boolean onTouch(View arg0, MotionEvent arg1)
{
evalue="1";
return false;
}
});
e2.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener()
{
public boolean onTouch(View arg0, MotionEvent arg1)
{
evalue="2";
return false;
}
});
b1.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener()
{
public void onClick(View arg0) {
if(evalue=="1")
{
e1.setText("yes");
}
if(evalue=="2")
{
e2.setText("yes");
}
}
});
b2.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener()
{
public void onClick(View arg0) {
if(evalue=="1")
{
e1.setText("No");
}
if(evalue=="2")
{
e2.setText("No");
}
}
});
}
Its a logical coding.. not upto the mark.. if you find a better one. then use it. thank you.
This worked for me.
e1 = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.editText1);
e1.setOnFocusChangeListener(new View.OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View arg0, boolean hasfocus) {
if (hasfocus) {
Log.e("TAG", "e1 focused")
} else {
Log.e("TAG", "e1 not focused")
}
}
});
With Java 8 lambdas:
EditText editTextTo = findViewById(R.id.editTextTo);
editTextTo.setOnFocusChangeListener((view, b) -> {
if (view.isFocused()) {
// Do whatever you want when the EditText is focused
// Example:
editTextFrom.setText("Focused!");
}
});
Note that the view inside the lambda function is actually an instance of an EditText.
Have your Fragment implement OnTouchListener & OnFocusChangeListener:
public class AttributesFragment extends Fragment
implements OnTouchListener, OnFocusChangeListener {
Then implement using:
#Override
public boolean onTouch(View view, MotionEvent event) {
if (view instanceof EditText) {
view.setOnFocusChangeListener(this); // User touched edittext
}
return false;
}
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
}
Don't forget to set your listener after creating your EditText
editText.setOnTouchListener(this);
This way if an EditText box is focused by default but user has not changed the field it will not fire the onFocusChange event.
Simple Coding:
if(EditText1.isFocused()){
//EditText1 is focused
}else if(EditText2.isFocused()){
//EditText2 is focused
}
This worked for me using Java 8 (lambdas):
EditText myEditText = findViewById(R.id.editText);
myEditText.setOnFocusChangeListener((view, hasFocus) -> {
if(hasFocus){
Log.e("TAG", "myEditext has focus")
}else{
Log.e("TAG", "myEditext has no focus")
}
});
In your activity or fragment implement OnFocusChangeListener.
edittextNeme= (EditText) findViewById(R.id.edittextNeme);
edittextNeme.setOnFocusChangeListener(this);
You will have to check which view changed focus by getting the view id with view.getId() and handle accordingly.
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasfocus) {
switch(view.getId()){
case R.id.edittextNeme:
//Do something
break;
...etc
}
}
val currentFocusView = activity.currentFocus
if (currentFocusView is EditText){
currentFocusView.appendText("Has Focus!")
}

Android, Why none of TimePicker callbacks run?

In my activity I have a time picker. I implemented call backs as you can see below but there is no log that shows none of them have been called. Regardless of setting tpTimer.setFocusable() to True or False, none of them called.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
TimePicker tpTimer = (TimePicker) findViewById(R.id.timePicker);
tpTimer.setIs24HourView(true);
tpTimer.setCurrentHour(0);
tpTimer.setCurrentMinute(0);
tpTimer.setFocusable(false); // or True
tpTimer.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
Log.i(TAG, "%1");
}
});
tpTimer.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
Log.i(TAG, "%2");
}
});
tpTimer.setOnLongClickListener(new OnLongClickListener() {
#Override
public boolean onLongClick(View v) {
Log.i(TAG, "%3");
return false;
}
});
tpTimer.setOnTouchListener(new OnTouchListener() {
#Override
public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
Log.i(TAG, "%4");
return false;
}
});
The methods gets called if you mention the view so change all the event listener code to
tpTimer.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
Log.i("Message", "Its Clicked");
}
});
I hope this helps.
I had the same problem. My workaround is to use the setOnTimeChangedListener:
tpTimer.setOnTimeChangedListener(new OnTimeChangedListener() {
#Override
public void onTimeChanged(TimePicker view, int hourOfDay, int minute) {
//Do whatever you want here
}
});
Hope it helped you as well, and I hope there will be peace between our countries (Iran and Israel).
