I am using Android Studio 2.3.3, the default layout is ContraintLayout. I was able to find the way how to change to RelativeLayout changing it in the XML code.
My problem is that the fill parent is not available then for each item, there is "none" instead. However match_wrap & fill_parent are available.
Can you help?
If you want to fill the screen with the relative layout you can use
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
fill_parent is now Deprecated you can refer this here Android Docs Use match_parent instead. To change ConstraintLayout to RelativeLayout you can change the Root layout while creating the file or Directly replace the ConstraintLayout to RelativeLayout in XML also(Studio Handles it well).

I'm making an app with a Navigatin Drawer Activity but in the content_main.xml it
puts an constraint layout, how can I remove/replace it or better make it match the height of the device?
Repalce it by linearlayout, you can change the constrainst layout tag to linear layout and make android:width="match_parent"
If i try to make the thing u see in the screenshot it just falls back to original size. I can't change sizes of any view Objects. Anybody knows a fix?

In Eclipse (as you're using the designer), you can set the Width and Height of a View, within the Layout Parameters section of the Properties pane. This can be set to wrap_content, match_parent or fill_parent.
You can also do this within the XML markup of the activity you're editing. Click the .xml tab at the bottom of your designer, and you'll see all of the XML that makes up your activity. Once in there, find the problematic view and add:
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
Edit
Also, when inside of a RelativeLayout, it's possible that Eclipse will add default padding values, so regardless of what you set, your View's wont reach the parent layout's edge, until you remove them. Just FYI!
Hello i have used a Relativelayout in android using XML but when i see image in graphical layout there is small margin left at bottom in different screensizes.How to remove that margin.I also used a ScrollView in layout.
I think you have to set bottom margin in negative
like
android:layout_marginBottom="-10dip"
Check whether you have used padding for your layout,
Better post your layout file and/or screenshot.
I have a RelativeLayout defined in xml and I call the setContentView(R.layout.relativeLAyout) for displaying in Activity.
Now, if I want to resize this RelativeLayout then can it be done and if yes, then can someone let me know how?
The inner components can be resized relatively to the parent.
Is this actually possible?

Sunil
well if you use Eclipse, in the XML file, there at the bottom just switch to Graphical Layout.
and from there you can drag and drop payouts, Buttons etc :D
then in properties you can select add the pixels (200px ) on width/height
As to the inner components not resizing, make sure that both android:layout_width and and android:layout_height are set to fill_parent - then they should take up the space given to the parent.
When I use a RelativeLayout with either fill_parent or wrap_content as height and an element which specifies: android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" it is ignored and it is aligned at the top. Setting the height of the RelativeLayout to an explicit value makes it work. Any clues?
This seems to be a bug in Android itself, see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1394.
I worked around it by wrapping my RelativeLayout in a FrameLayout and putting my bottom aligned view as a children of the FrameLayout with android:layout_gravity="bottom". This hinders you from referencing it from within the RelativeLayout so you'll have to work around that (for example using margins).
If anyone has a better workaround, please share.
When you inflate the layout, use inflate(R.layout.whatever, parent, false), where parent is the ListView. If you don't do that (e.g., you pass null for the parent), RelativeLayout gets strange in list rows.
My hack for this andriod bug:
ViewGroup.LayoutParams lp=(ViewGroup.LayoutParams)view.getLayoutParams();
lp.height=view.getContentHeight();//hack for android bug about ViewGroup.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT and android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" on landscape orientation
view.requestLayout();
act.setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_SENSOR);
I was able to get the proper alignment by specifying the problematic TextView with:
android:id="#+id/must_be_bottom_left"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_below="#id/xxx"
where xxx was the id of a TextView that has android:layout_below="#id/yyy"
and yyy is a TextView that is always above both xxx and must_be_bottom_left.
The contents of my list items can vary so that sometimes the "xxx" TextView is View.GONE, but even then the layout works as expected.
I don't know how fragile or merely seredipidous this work-around is. I am using Android 1.6 and I haven't tested it for forward compatability.
