Glide cannot resolve asBitmap() - android

Why I can't resolve this method while using Glide also I can't resolve .diskstaretegy() :
Glide.with(getActivity())
.load(chalet.profilePhoto)
.asBitmap() <--- cannot resolve this
.diskCacheStrategy(DiskCacheStrategy.ALL) <--- cannot reslove this
.fitCenter()
.placeholder(R.drawable.logo).dontAnimate().into(mImageView);
My gradle :-
compile 'com.github.bumptech.glide:glide:4.0.0'

I found the way to fix it, you must add the asBitmap() right After with() and it will work just like old times.
PS: my Glide Version is 4.7.1

for the asBitmap you need to write it as follows:
Glide.with(getActivity()).asBitmap().load(chalet.profilePhoto).into(mImageView);

// Put asBitmap() right after Glide.with(context) ,,. 4.0+
// And for SubsamplingScaleImageView use SimpleTarget
Glide.with(context)
.asBitmap()
.load(images[position])
.apply(RequestOptions.diskCacheStrategyOf(DiskCacheStrategy.AUTOMATIC))
.into(new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>(width, height) {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap bitmap, Transition<? super Bitmap> transition) {
subsampleImageView.setImage(ImageSource.bitmap(bitmap)); //For SubsampleImage
}
});

Call asBitmap() before load()
Glide.with(context)
.asBitmap()
.load(uri)

If you getting an error, follow the steps below.
In Glide library move .asBitmap() before the .load()
---------------------OR-----------------------
Glide.with(context)
.setDefaultRequestOptions(requestOptions)
.asBitmap()
.load(url)
.into(holder.imageView);

https://bumptech.github.io/glide/doc/migrating.html#requestoptions
Glide.with(getActivity()).asBitmap()
.load(headerURl)
.listener(new RequestListener<Bitmap>() {
#Override
public boolean onLoadFailed(#Nullable GlideException e, Object o, Target<Bitmap> target, boolean b) {
// Toast.makeText(cxt,getResources().getString(R.string.unexpected_error_occurred_try_again),Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
return false;
}
#Override
public boolean onResourceReady(Bitmap bitmap, Object o, Target<Bitmap> target, DataSource dataSource, boolean b) {
if (null == header)
return false;
//set image
header.setImageBitmap(bitmap);
//process bitmap
Palette.from(bitmap).generate(
new Palette.PaletteAsyncListener() {
#SuppressWarnings("ResourceType")
#Override
public void onGenerated(Palette palette) {
int vibrantColor = palette
.getVibrantColor(R.color.primary_500);
int vibrantDarkColor = palette
.getDarkVibrantColor(R.color.primary_700);
collapsingToolbarLayout
.setContentScrimColor(vibrantColor);
collapsingToolbarLayout
.setStatusBarScrimColor(vibrantDarkColor);
}
});
return false;
}
}
).submit();

You can set it another way like that
RequestOptions requestOptions = new RequestOptions();
requestOptions.placeholder(R.drawable.ic_placeholder);
requestOptions.diskCacheStrategy(DiskCacheStrategy.ALL)
requestOptions.error(R.drawable.ic_error);
Glide.with(context)
.setDefaultRequestOptions(requestOptions)
.asBitmap()
.load(url).into(holder.imageView);

Glide loader is not loading image properly

I am using Glide loader to load my images. My code is working but it changes images continuously. Here is my code:
Glide.with(ctx).load(image).asBitmap()
.dontTransform()
.placeholder(R.drawable.cart)
.into(new SimpleTarget < Bitmap > () {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap resource, GlideAnimation<? super Bitmap> glideAnimation) {
photoImageView.setImageBitmap(resource);
Glide.with(ctx).load(image).into(post_image);
post_image.setImageBitmap(resource);
}
Hey You can use glide utill class for better understanding
public class GlideUtil {
public static void loadImage(String url, ImageView imageView) {
Context context = imageView.getContext();
if(context!=null || (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.JELLY_BEAN_MR1)) {
assert context != null;
ColorDrawable cd = new ColorDrawable(ContextCompat.getColor(context, R.color.blue_grey_500));
Glide.with(context)
.load(url)
.placeholder(cd)
.crossFade()
.centerCrop()
.into(imageView);
}
}
public static void loadProfileIcon(String url, ImageView imageView) {
Context context = imageView.getContext();
if(context!=null || (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.JELLY_BEAN_MR1)) {
Glide.with(context)
.load(url)
.placeholder(R.drawable.ic_person_outline_black)
.dontAnimate()
.fitCenter()
.into(imageView);
}
}
#RequiresApi(api = Build.VERSION_CODES.LOLLIPOP)
public static void loadImage(String url, ImageView mPhotoView, final ProgressBar mProgress) {
Context context = mPhotoView.getContext();
if(context!=null || (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.JELLY_BEAN_MR1)) {
assert context != null;
ColorDrawable cd = new ColorDrawable(ContextCompat.getColor(context, R.color.blue_grey_500));
mProgress.setEnabled(true);
Glide.with(context)
.load(url)
.listener(new RequestListener<String, GlideDrawable>() {
#Override
public boolean onException(Exception e, String model, Target<GlideDrawable> target, boolean isFirstResource) {
mProgress.setVisibility(View.GONE);
return false;
}
#Override
public boolean onResourceReady(GlideDrawable resource, String model, Target<GlideDrawable> target, boolean isFromMemoryCache, boolean isFirstResource) {
mProgress.setVisibility(View.GONE);
return false;
}
})
.placeholder(cd)
.crossFade()
.centerCrop()
.into(mPhotoView);
}
}
}
Image changing occurs because of lazy loading of images in the glide. When the glide is downloading the new image previous image will be already loaded since you are reusing the view. To prevent this,.Before loading images clear the previous image before loading image.
Glide.clear(post_image);
EDIT:
Also before fetching the image from glide clear the old image of the imageView.
post_image.setImageDrawable(null);
Then load the new image from glide
Glide.with(ctx)
.load(image)
.asBitmap()
.dontTransform()
.placeholder(R.drawable.cart)
.into(new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>() {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap resource, GlideAnimation<? super Bitmap> glideAnimation) {
post_image.setImageBitmap(resource);
}
}

Glide - How to set size Placeholder equal size Image from URL before updating the ImageView

I using Glide lib for load photo from url to show on ImageView.But this Photo have multiple size, i want before updating the ImageView then placeholder show with size equal size Image from URL.
Like this:
This is my code:
Glide.with(context)
.load(url)
.override((int) context.getResources().getDimension(R.dimen._180sdp), (int) context.getResources().getDimension(R.dimen._300sdp))
.fitCenter()
.bitmapTransform(new RoundedTransformation(context, (int) context.getResources().getDimension(R.dimen._10sdp)))
.error(defaultImageResId)
.diskCacheStrategy(DiskCacheStrategy.RESULT)
.listener(new RequestListener<String, GlideDrawable>() {
#Override
public boolean onException(Exception e, String model, Target<GlideDrawable> target, boolean isFirstResource) {
progressBar.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE);
return false;
}
#Override
public boolean onResourceReady(GlideDrawable resource, String model, Target<GlideDrawable> target, boolean isFromMemoryCache, boolean isFirstResource) {
progressBar.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE);
return false;
}
})
.into(imageView);
How can do it?
You need to get the image dimensions from the server along with URL and use it to resize the place holder image.
Glide
.with(context)
.load(imageUrl)
.override(width, height) // resizes the image to these dimensions (in pixel)
.into(imageViewResize);

get Bitmap from SD card using Glide android

I am trying to fetch Bitmap of image stored on Sd card using Glide but it is not working for me.
Bitmap bitmapByGlide = Glide.with(this).load(imagePath).asBitmap().into(100, 100).get();
You can try this way:
Glide.with(this)
.load(Uri.fromFile(new File(url)))
.asBitmap()
.into(new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>() {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap resource, GlideAnimation<? super Bitmap> glideAnimation) {
bitmapByGlide = resource;
}
});
(use Uri.formFile() is trick of this)
Try this.
Glide.with(this)
.load(url)
.asBitmap()
.into(new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>() {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap resource, GlideAnimation<? super Bitmap> glideAnimation) {
}
});
private SimpleTarget target = new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>() {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap bitmap, GlideAnimation glideAnimation) {
// do something with the bitmap
// for demonstration purposes, let's just set it to an ImageView
imageView1.setImageBitmap( bitmap );
}
};
private void loadImageSimpleTarget() {
Glide
.with( context ) // could be an issue!
.load( eatFoodyImages[0] )
.asBitmap()
.into( target );
}

try this:
File b = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(), "DCIM/Camera/IMG_20150828_174009.jpg");
and
Glide.with(MainActivity.this).load(b).error(R.drawable.empty_pic).placeholder(R.drawable.empty_pic).into(image2);

Save image once Glide has loaded it

I load images using Glide like such:
Glide.with(getContext()).load(apdInfo.url)
.thumbnail(0.5f)
.crossFade()
.diskCacheStrategy(DiskCacheStrategy.ALL)
.into(apd_image);
And wish to save the Bitmap loaded like such:
private void saveImage() {
final ImageView apd_image = (ImageView) view.findViewById(R.id.apd_image);
final InternalFileHandler IFH = new InternalFileHandler(getContext());
apd_image.setDrawingCacheEnabled(true);
apd_image.buildDrawingCache(true);
Bitmap bitmap = apd_image.getDrawingCache();
// Simply saves the bitmap in the filesystem
IFH.savePicture("APD", bitmap, getContext());
apd_image.destroyDrawingCache();
}
The issue is that if I call saveImage before Glide has loaded my picture, it won't work.
How may I wait or Glide to load it? Please note that using Glide's listeners did not work.
EDIT:
I now use the following listeners:
.listener(new RequestListener<String, GlideDrawable>() {
#Override
public boolean onException(Exception e, String model, Target<GlideDrawable> target, boolean isFirstResource) {
//handle the exception.
return true;
}
#Override
public boolean onResourceReady(GlideDrawable resource, String model, Target<GlideDrawable> target, boolean isFromMemoryCache, boolean isFirstResource) {
// onResourceReady is called twice for some reason, this is my work around for now
if (first) {
GlideBitmapDrawable glideBitmapDrawable = (GlideBitmapDrawable) resource;
// Convert to Bitmap
Bitmap bm = glideBitmapDrawable.getBitmap();
saveImage(bm);
first = false;
} else {
first = true;
}
return true;
}
})
Use the listener so that when the image is fetched and ready to be used, you can save it using the saveImage method of yours.
Do this:
Glide.with(getContext()).load(apdInfo.url)
.thumbnail(0.5f)
.crossFade()
.diskCacheStrategy(DiskCacheStrategy.ALL)
.into(new SimpleTarget<GlideDrawable>() {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(GlideDrawable glideDrawable, GlideAnimation<? super GlideDrawable> glideAnimation) {
apd_image.setImageDrawable(glideDrawable);
apd_image.setDrawingCacheEnabled(true);
saveImage();
}});
Call the saveImage method inside onResourceReady() callback and use the GlideDrawable resource. I would suggest using the GlideDrawable rather than getting the image using Drawing Cache.

Glide: onError Callback

I'm switching from Picasso to Glide. Everything works fine except I cannot find a method to get an error callback. I want to retrieve a Bitmap, pass it on and generate an Android Palette from it. Also, while an errorDrawable can be provided to a load call, it won't show up in onResourceReady when using a SimpleTarget.
In Picasso I did it like this:
target = new Target() {
#Override
public void onBitmapLoaded(Bitmap bitmap, Picasso.LoadedFrom from) {
//handle Bitmap, generate Palette etc.
}
#Override
public void onBitmapFailed(final Drawable errorDrawable) {
// use errorDrawable to generate Palette
}
#Override
public void onPrepareLoad(final Drawable placeHolderDrawable) {
}
};
int width = (int) DisplayUnitsConverter.dpToPx(this, 120);
int height = (int) DisplayUnitsConverter.dpToPx(this, 40);
Picasso.with(this).load(config.getPathToLogo()).resize(width, height).error(errorDrawableId).into(target);
My glide code looks like this:
Glide.with(context)
.load(config.getPathToLogo())
.asBitmap()
.into(new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>(width, height) {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap resource, GlideAnimation glideAnimation) {
//handle Bitmap, generate Palette etc.
}
});
Thanks.
For everyone with the same problem - you need to use listener method. For example:
Glide.with(activity)
.load(getPhoto().getUrl())
.apply(
new RequestOptions()
.error(R.drawable.icon_placeholder)
.centerCrop()
)
.listener(new RequestListener<Drawable>() {
#Override
public boolean onLoadFailed(#Nullable GlideException e, Object model, Target<Drawable> target, boolean isFirstResource) {
//on load failed
return false;
}
#Override
public boolean onResourceReady(Drawable resource, Object model, Target<Drawable> target, DataSource dataSource, boolean isFirstResource) {
//on load success
return false;
}
})
.transition(withCrossFade())
.into(view);
You are using SimpleTarget that implements the interface Target that defines the method onLoadFailed so you only need to do:
Glide.with(context)
.load(config.getPathToLogo())
.asBitmap()
.into(new SimpleTarget<Bitmap>(width, height) {
#Override
public void onResourceReady(Bitmap resource, GlideAnimation glideAnimation) {
//handle Bitmap, generate Palette etc.
}
#Override
public void onLoadFailed(Exception e, Drawable errorDrawable) {
// Do something.
}
});
