I am using SDP (https://github.com/intuit/sdp) to scale my App UI for all kind of devices. Will this be enough to publish my app for tablet or I need to make any declarations in Manifest file?
If yes, will I have to create different layouts ? (I don't need to add new layouts since SDP is doing all the work for layout support).
No you don't need a separate APK for tablets and phones. Also, there is no need to create separate layouts for tablets as well if your UI is already looking as intended on it. Publishing single APK will be enough for all kinds of devices, you don't have to do anything else.

I am currently developing an Android app for my company's products.
For a forthcoming meeting, I need to create a demonstration version with added functionality to existing applications. I want to keep both applications on my smartphone because I need to compare the existing application with the demo version in the meeting.
I noticed that simply duplicating the project does not create two applications on the smartphone.
Please tell me what I need to change in my cloned project to have two applications on my smartphone.
change in package name does the magic. or you can also use the android flavours
go here
change the package name of the app is what you need since your phone uses that to identify the app on your phone.
Flavors is the best solution in my opinion.

Is there a tool or app which will optimize building xmls in android app, because right now the only way to check difference between designer's template and an app is making screenshots and using graphical editor for overlaying each over other.
I have some DIY tools, but I am interesting in ready to use products, does somebody know them?
Have you explored the developer options provided with the phones?
Enable layout bounds to know where a layout ends, its margin and padding
Profile gpu rendering:onscreen bars, to check UI thread overload.
Animation speeds: you can increase, decrease and disable animation.
I use this app to check if my UI is aligned properly.

I'm looking to write an application which allows an alternative lock screen for Android. I've seen posts around here on SO as well as applications in the Play Store, but I can't seem to find any APIs for doing it on developer.android.com.
How do you write a replacement lock screen for Android?
To summarize what others have said on here and what similar questions have asked:
TL;DR No, you cannot easily write a replacement for Android's lock screen.
The longer version: In order to write a lock screen replacement, you'd need to either create a custom ROM which bundles your lockscreen or you'd need to wade through undocumented Android and device-specific APIs to work around this problem. Here's hoping that Android M will allow us to write lock-screen replacements.

Are there any ready-made mobile HTML5/CSS3 templates available on the net (for webapps). I don't want to have a native look nor want a native look with webapps. But I want kewl eye-catching designs with a lot of colors. As I'm a developer I'm a super noob at designing. Let me know if you guys use any resources.
P.S.To be specific I needed it for holding two countdowns (placeholders) & 2 images.
I usually look at DeviantArt for UI ideas,
http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=iphone+app+template
From there you could find one you like and code it.
Also look at this link for a backbone template,
http://html5boilerplate.com/mobile
A simple google search would have led you here...

One of my applications is getting more and more popular, and I'd like to support multiple languages, but there are a few problems:
I don't know every single language out there
I'm actively developing the application, so strings change and new ones are added - often
That's why I've been looking at the possibilities of an online community translation tool. I'd like for it to be free and open source, and it'd be great if it supports Android!
Sorry if this is off-topic, I was a bit unsure, but I think it's a problem that many Android developers have to deal with.
For WordPress for Android we use GlotPress, you can upload your strings.xml and it will create sub projects for whatever language you want. You can then invite users to translate the project to their native language.
