I am inflating a list of layouts programmatically from a xml into another layout.
The end result looks like the following image.
The number of checkboxes is different on each run, how can i get their state and also add listeners to the image button? Ideally i want only one listener that has an id of the selected layout.
This is the xml code.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<android.support.constraint.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/chk_item_layout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<CheckBox
android:id="#+id/checkBox_chkitem"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginLeft="16dp"
android:layout_marginTop="16dp"
app:layout_constraintLeft_toLeftOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/textView_chkitem"
android:layout_width="0dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginEnd="8dp"
android:layout_marginStart="8dp"
android:layout_marginTop="24dp"
android:text="TextView"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toStartOf="#+id/imageButton_chkitem"
app:layout_constraintStart_toEndOf="#+id/checkBox_chkitem"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent" />
<ImageButton
android:id="#+id/imageButton_chkitem"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginEnd="16dp"
android:layout_marginTop="16dp"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent"
app:srcCompat="#android:drawable/stat_notify_more" />
</android.support.constraint.ConstraintLayout>
And this is how i inflate the layouts
val checkitemlist = listOf<ChecklistItem>(ChecklistItem("Categoria", "conteudo"),
ChecklistItem("Categoria", "conteudo"),
ChecklistItem("Categoria", "conteudo"),
ChecklistItem("Categoria", "conteudo"))
for (item in checkitemlist) {
val inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context)
val layout = inflater.inflate(io.ubivis.ier.R.layout.checklistitem_layout, null, false) as ConstraintLayout
layout.textView_chkitem.text = item.textSimple
checklist_content_layout.addView(layout)
}
replace your code
for (item in checkitemlist) {
checklist_content_layout.removeAllViews()
val inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context)
val layout = inflater.inflate(io.ubivis.ier.R.layout.checklistitem_layout, null, false) as ConstraintLayout
layout.textView_chkitem.text = item.textSimple
checklist_content_layout.addView(layout)
}

I have a custom DialogFragment, and was trying to use AlertDialog in onCreateDialog(). The AlertDialog only has title, singleChoiceItem, positiveButton, etc. But I would like to add an extra button on the top left to be a back button that I could add a onClickListener. How could I do that? Thanks!
You can create your own xml file with a button on left corner.Now that you have created an Xml file as Custom layout. inflate that file using below code
AlertDialog.Builder builder
= new AlertDialog.Builder(this);
builder.setTitle("Name");
// set the custom layout
final View customLayout
= getLayoutInflater()
.inflate(
R.layout.custom_layout,
null);
builder.setView(customLayout);
After creating your own custom layout set a listener for the button that you have positioned on top left corner in xml by calling findViewByID on Dialog and then calling closeButton.setOnClickListener.
You can use custom dialog. Your Kotlin Class:
class CustomDialog(var c: Activity) : Dialog(c), View.OnClickListener {
var d: Dialog? = null
override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE)
setContentView(R.layout.dailog_custom)
}
override fun onClick(v: View) {
}
}
XML file of dialog:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"

android:textColor="?attr/colorOnPrimary" />

android:id="#+id/btnYes"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#id/tvMessage"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
android:padding="#dimen/fab_padding"
android:textColor="#color/red"
android:text="#string/yes" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/btnNo"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"

I'm developing an app. In this app there's an alertdialog that opens when you click a point.
In this alert dialog there are two edittext, a gridview and a button. The gridview has associated a BaseAdapter that convert Uris to IconView (a class that extends ImageView) using Glide.
I want to set a maximum height of 350dp, but if there is just one row (there'll be always one image) I want the gridview to adapt.
I tried this way: How to have a GridView that adapts its height when items are added
But it doesn't work. So what I've tried is to count the number of elements and if there's is more than 2, set 350dp of height if there is less than 2, set 175dp. But it doesnt work.
The alert dialog layout:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical">
<EditText
android:id="#+id/puntoName"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginStart="8dp"
android:layout_marginLeft="8dp"
android:layout_marginTop="10dp"
android:layout_marginEnd="8dp"
android:layout_marginRight="8dp"
android:fontFamily="sans-serif"
android:textSize="24sp"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintHorizontal_bias="0.0"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/puntoDescripcion"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginStart="8dp"
android:layout_marginLeft="8dp"
android:layout_marginTop="1dp"
android:layout_marginEnd="8dp"
android:layout_marginRight="8dp"
android:maxHeight="100dp"
android:textSize="18sp"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#+id/puntoName" />
<GridView
android:id="#+id/photo_grid"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginStart="16dp"
android:layout_marginEnd="16dp"
android:gravity="center"
android:horizontalSpacing="6dp"
android:numColumns="2"
android:verticalSpacing="5dp"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintHorizontal_bias="0.0"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#+id/puntoDescripcion"></GridView>
<Button
android:id="#+id/cerrar"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="Cerrar"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#+id/photo_grid" />
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>
This is the code I'm using in order to change GridView height:
fun checkSize() {
val popUp: View = fragmentCaller.layoutInflater.inflate(R.layout.popup,null)
var photogrid: GridView = popUp.findViewById(R.id.photo_grid)
var params: ViewGroup.LayoutParams = photogrid.layoutParams
var tam: Int = 175
if (adapter.getDataSource().size>2) {
tam = DpToPixels(350)
}
photogrid.layoutParams.height = tam
photogrid.requestLayout()
}
private fun DpToPixels(dp: Int) : Int {
val escala: Float = fragmentCaller.requireContext().resources.displayMetrics.density;
var tam: Int = (dp * escala + 0.5f).toInt()
return tam
}
The size of the gridView is always 0. I don't know why. I just want to set android:layout_height programmatically. I call checkSize() method after I call Dialog.show() and everytime I do changes in the elements of adapter.
Thanks.
I've made a little sample of something I'm trying to do in a real app, and I can't figure out how to solve my issue. The current solution looks like this.
So I have a vertical list of movie categories, where within each genre, I have a horizontal list of movies. The first row, is showing The Exorcist as the first element, but it's not centered. The second row in Action, shows how it looks when I've scrolled a bit to the right. Last row is showing how the end of the row looks like.
I'd like to have the first and last of the rows, to be centered as well when they're "selected".
My main activity looks like this:
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#android:color/white">
<androidx.recyclerview.widget.RecyclerView
android:id="#+id/moviesListRecyclerView"
android:layout_width="0dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:visibility="visible"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent"
tools:listitem="#layout/movie_category_item_view" />
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>
The movie_category_item_view looks like this:
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:id="#+id/movieListLayout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:background="#android:color/white">
<androidx.appcompat.widget.AppCompatTextView
android:id="#+id/movieCategoryTitle"
android:layout_width="0dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginStart="20dp"
android:layout_marginTop="40dp"
android:textColor="#android:color/black"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent"
tools:text="Horror" />
<androidx.recyclerview.widget.RecyclerView
android:id="#+id/moviesRecyclerView"
android:layout_width="0dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginTop="32dp"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:visibility="visible"
app:layoutManager="androidx.recyclerview.widget.LinearLayoutManager"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#id/movieCategoryTitle"
tools:listitem="#layout/movie_horizontal_item_view" />
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>
And the movie_horizontal_item_view like this:
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:background="#android:color/white"
android:orientation="vertical">
<androidx.appcompat.widget.AppCompatTextView
android:id="#+id/movieTitle"
android:layout_width="0dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textColor="#android:color/black"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent"
tools:text="Horror" />
<androidx.appcompat.widget.AppCompatImageView
android:id="#+id/image"
android:layout_width="237dp"
android:layout_height="209dp"
android:background="#android:color/black"
android:src="#drawable/ic_launcher_foreground"
app:layout_constraintBottom_toBottomOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintEnd_toEndOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#id/movieTitle"
tools:src="#drawable/ic_launcher_foreground" />
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>
Hopefully what I'm asking for makes sense!
In case you want to try it out for yourself and see what I mean, it can be found on github here

I'm trying to display a list in a fixed size scrollview, at first it was the first items who weren't showing and I fixed it but now it's the last ones that aren't reachable.
Here is my xml code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#color/colorPrimary"
tools:context=".ui.home.AperoDetailFragment">

android:id="#+id/name_apero"
android:layout_width="156dp"
android:layout_height="53dp"

android:layout_width="410dp"
android:layout_height="607dp"

app:layout_constraintHorizontal_bias="0.0"
app:layout_constraintStart_toStartOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintTop_toBottomOf="#+id/ingredient_title_apero"
app:layout_constraintVertical_bias="0.0">

android:id="#+id/vertical_layout_ingredient"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"

app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent"
app:layout_constraintVertical_bias="0.125" />
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>
and here is my java code to populate the list:
public class AperoDetailFragment extends Fragment {
private View root;
private Apero detailApero;
public AperoDetailFragment(Apero apero) {
this.detailApero = apero;
}
#Override
public View onCreateView(#NonNull final LayoutInflater inflater,
final ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
root = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_detail_apero, container, false);
TextView name = (TextView)root.findViewById(R.id.name_apero);
name.setText(detailApero.getName());
TextView date = (TextView)root.findViewById(R.id.date_apero);
date.setText(detailApero.getDate());
LinearLayout ll = (LinearLayout)root.findViewById(R.id.vertical_layout_ingredient);
LinearLayout a = new LinearLayout(root.getContext());
a.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
for(int i = 0; i < 20; i++)
{
Button b = new Button(root.getContext());
b.setText("Button "+i);
a.addView(b);
}
ll.addView(a);
return root;
}
}
When I scroll I can reach the number 16 but not the other, it's like they are under the layout I don't really know how to explain better.
So the question is how can I scroll my list until the last items ?
There are a few issues with your code: first and foremost if you want to display data as a list you should use a RecyclerView instead of a ScrollView. ScrollViews are there to allow the content (or part of it) in your activity/fragment to be scrollable.
Second, it's not a good practice to set specific sizes to your views, especially when using ConstraintLayout.
Third, onCreateView is meant to be a method that will simply inflate your fragment's layout and return it as a View. For handling the UI, use onViewCreated. That way you will guarantee that your UI will never be handled before your fragment is actually attached to the activity.
So answering your question, use a RecyclerView to display your items as a list instead of the ScrollView and you'll be good to go from there
Hello everyone i have little problem about shared element.
I have using shared element at activity transition.
When click to recyclerView item that view comes to front of all view.
as you can see when i click to lowermost picture
begin transition fragment --> activity
private fun itemClicked(pos: Int, view: View) {
val intent = Intent(context, DetailActivity::class.java)
val title = view.findViewById<TextView>(R.id.title)
val photo = view.findViewById<ImageView>(R.id.photo)
intent.putExtra(IMAGE_TRANSITION_NAME, photo.transitionName)
intent.putExtra(TITLE_TRANSITION_NAME, title.transitionName)
val pair1 =
Pair.create(
photo as View,
ViewCompat.getTransitionName(photo).toString()
)
val pair2 =
Pair.create(
title as View,
ViewCompat.getTransitionName(title).toString()
)
val options = activity?.let {
ActivityOptionsCompat.makeSceneTransitionAnimation(it, pair2, pair1)
}
startActivity(intent, options?.toBundle())
}
