I was wondering if it was possible to mute notification sounds programmatically?
what I wanted to achieve with this is that a user can select which apps he wants to mute from a single app instead of entering into the settings menu
it is not possible by design.
Android idea for app is to run app in sandbox and do not allow it affect any other applications.

I have a live streaming app where you can be recording for hours and when the user receives a text message or a phone call, the vibration is trnaslated into sound and rippling video on the streaming.
Is it possible to somehow programmatically disable all notifications or do I have to ask the user to do so by himself?
You cannot control notifications from other apps. There is indeed a solution for rooted devices.
'Standards' part in this guide says:
One of the unfortunate problems Android users face is that there is no
centralized control for how notifications work. This means that if
there is an application prompting you with a notification, short of
uninstalling the application, there isn’t much you can do. Starting in
Android 4.1, users received a buried binary setting to 'Turn off
notifications’ for a specific app.
No, unfortunately not. Perhaps on rooted devices, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Best way seems to navigate the user to the related setting to disable all notifications, as you have also mentioned.
Hi all i want make app which run over volume key for example when we press the volume down key it turn camera open( when device is locked) similarly i want the same in my app.
I don't think that's possible
Those functionalities come from the factory OS you have, not from specific apps. The only way that could be possible is by rooting the device, in which case you may be able to listen to physical button clicks and modify their behaviour.
This page shows an application that can alter the buttons behaviour once the device is rooted, but again, this won't teach you how to do it, as again, it's not for the majority of the users and you'd need to root every device.
I am trying to create a behavior where entering some string in any application will open my application.
I've tried looking around on how to listen for keyboard press or listening for text change, but I couldn't find my required behavior and I don't want to create a custom keyboard for this.
If this is not possible, what will be a good implementation for lunching my application as fast as possible while in the other application?
Answered before the requirement to "don't want custom keyboard"
The only viable way that I can think of is if the user was using a custom keyboard written by you. Custom keyboards can and do act as key-loggers and therefor could detect any key combination, or written word and allow you to execute your code when your conditions are met.

How to open my app as fast as possible from another application?
Press home, launch your app by clicking on the launcher icon
But assuming you mean without doing that, you'll still need to monitor some event, say volume keys pressed or device being shaken for instance, or have you app be running already in the foreground such as what Facebook messenger does (or used to do, I don't know)

Since Android Lollipop, the user can hide notifications of an application from Android settings.
I'm writing a parental control application and I'm searching for a way to disable this functionality.
Indeed, I want notifications to be always displayed, even if the child doesn't want to see them.
I saw that on tablets (not on phones) we can create a specific profile to block access to the settings app, but I don't want to lock the settings app, and the trick needs to work on phones too.
I also looked in manifest file to see if an option was there to explicitly enable/disable this but I found nothing.
Please note that my app does have admin privileges.
After hours of head scratching and hundred of coffees, nothing came to me from Android developer website or any other website, I'm desparated.
So finally, is there a way to disable the possibility to hide notifications in Android Lollipop?
Disabling the ability to hide unwanted notification would be undoing what that feature is. As far as I know there is no way to do that.
EDIT:
However - there is an broadcast send after each settings change (WiFi turn on / off etc.). Some settings blocking apps are using this to revert changes made before entering password - maybe there is an intent that does the same for hiding notification.
I am making an alarm app for Android. Is there a way to disable the volume control and the phone's power button from within the app? If the app needs to ask the user for permission before doing this, thats fine.
