Notifications for an alarm clock missing functionality in Oreo - android

I've been building an alarm clock via youtube tutorial by Anna Xu
She ends up keeping her code within the If statement and it seems to click and bring up her application just fine. I've made modifications based on searching for fixes for Oreo on Pixel XL. This is what I have so far:

This brings up the notification when the alarm sounds, but clicking does not bring up the app, in fact I don't think you can click it at all, you can only swipe it away. I just want to be able to click the notification to bring the app to the foreground. I'm super new with Java and Android Studio, this was all prompted by necessity now that Oreo system alarm clock can't be trusted. Any help would be amazing.

Notification is removed from status bar when I close the app

I send a simple notification to the user when they open the app. When I swipe the notification away from the status bar, the notification is also deleted.
I just want the notification to stay on the status bar even if I close the app like whats app Instagram and some other apps.

P.S1: I don't want the notification to persist like in foreground services. I just want to not go away when the app is swiped away, but the user can get rid of the notification anytime they want.
P.S2: I am not using any services, just a simple notification. Like e.g.letting the user know that they collected some badges today.

Update notifcation text

I have currently setup a small application which sets an alarm on the device and stores relevant information inside of an SQL database e.g. Alarm name and time. When the alarm is activated my application sends a notification to the user. Currently each notification is static which means every message is the same. I would like to now allow my application to grab the name of the alarm which has been activated and display it in the notification. Now I know that when setting multiple alarms you require multiple ID's which I have stored in side of my SQL and I'm guess the same when it comes to sending a notification. Is there a way of matching my Alarms ID with one on a notification so that it knows what message to send e.g. alarm name?

Update on my situation which is slowly driving me crazy
I can now set the text from my SQL to my notification but its only the first from my database each time. Now I've come up with two possible solutions which are only theory's.
Is there a way in which each time the database is called to the notification it will move onto the next result?
As I mentioned above I'm setting an alarm and when the alarm goes off it then calls the notification. Now In my pending intent for the alarm I'm giving it a id which you can see as alarm_request_code is there a way of giving it to my notification ID and then setting up a statement where if the notification ID is equal to or in the list of my alarm ID's stored on my SQL then it will search for the correct text to input.

Per the docs you can do the following:

The trick here is your notify id, which must be the same in order to behave appropriately, in your case 0.
So as long it has not been dismissed it should work accordingly. I will suggest having a unique id as a constant for your custom notification such as 123.

Android Insistent Notification Interrupted By SMS - How to make uninterruptable?

Short version:
I want to create a notification that is uninterruptible by all other notifications, SMS messages, etc until the user clears it.
Long version:
I'm using Firebase Cloud Messaging to send alerts to my phone. Messages are handled based on the topic, and I need to make the "alarm" messages repeat continuously until the notification is cleared by the user. This is currently accomplished by setting the notification with FLAG_INSISTENT, which loops the sound.
The problem is the insistent "alarm" notification is permanently stopped when a different notification or SMS comes through.
I would like to ignore all new notifications, or restart the alarm after the new notification plays. I've searched for a couple hours and tried several flags and settings, but can't figure out how to do it.

I may be able to prevent my own notifications from interrupting the alarm by ignoring them when the alarm notification ID (30549) is active (or create the new notification and then create the alarm again). However, SMS and notifications from other programs will still interrupt, so that wouldn't be a perfect solution.
I don't think you'll have luck with this, unfortunately. Android will not let you have a notification that takes full priority from my understanding.
However, in the Firebase console when you go to the notifications section and click advanced you can set the priority of a notification to High and set a sound.
Since it looks like you're writing the notification programmatically and setting priority to Max this will achieve the same affect.
Setting priority to high, from Google's documentation:
When a high-priority notification arrives (see right), it is presented to users for a short period of time with an expanded layout exposing possible actions.
After this period of time, the notification retreats to the notification shade. If a notification's priority is flagged as High, Max, or full-screen, it gets a heads-up notification

You can define actions you want to happen when interacting with your Notification by adding a PendingIntent.
In the following example a PendingIntent is created to launch the (current) activity.
That intent is then added to the notification in the content section. Once this notification is shown, when you click the content section, the intent is fired and the app gets started or brought back to top.

In this case the notification is dismissable. If you set .setOngoing(true) you need to remove it by calling .cancel(NOTIFICATION_ID) on an instance of the NotificationManager.

Notification does not work properly on some devices

In my app I use a service for background work(send data to server) when my app is in the background.So I create a notification which tells to the user that app is running in the background.I want when the user taps on the notification my app to come to the foreground so I use an Intent like this that android use to launch my app

In the emulator and some physical devices works perfect.But in some other it launches the app from the start(It puts Entry screen in the top).
Any idea why is this happening?
You should start your service with startForeground(). this is the way to start a service in foreground and report by a notification. Android - implementing startForeground for a service?
