Try to add

It should work.

ERROR: Plugin with id 'com.android.application' not found

I am facing gradle versions related problem in a Firebase-based application. I've read several comments and tried many fixes but failed to get a solution.
My gradle files look like as below:
Project-level Gradle
buildscript {
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
}
dependencies {
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.3.2'
}
}
allprojects {
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
}
}
task clean(type: Delete) {
delete rootProject.buildDir
}
App level Gradle:
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'
android {
compileSdkVersion 29
buildToolsVersion "29.0.2"
defaultConfig {
applicationId "com.example.globallinks"
minSdkVersion 15
targetSdkVersion 29
versionCode 1
versionName "1.0"
testInstrumentationRunner "androidx.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android-optimize.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
}
dependencies {
implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.0.2'
implementation 'androidx.constraintlayout:constraintlayout:1.1.3'
implementation 'com.google.android.material:material:1.0.0'
implementation 'androidx.annotation:annotation:1.0.2'
implementation 'androidx.lifecycle:lifecycle-extensions:2.0.0'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-analytics:17.2.0'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-auth:19.1.0'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-firestore:21.2.0'
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'
androidTestImplementation 'androidx.test.ext:junit:1.1.0'
androidTestImplementation 'androidx.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.1.1'
}
apply plugin: 'com.google.gms.google-services'
Obviously there is a version mismatching problem. However I cannot find the issue. May be anyone catch the mistake. Thanks in advance!
Add android class-path in your project level build.gradle file.
dependencies {
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.3.1'
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.3.2'
}
Remove these dependencies from app level build.gradle file:
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'
androidTestImplementation 'androidx.test.ext:junit:1.1.0'
androidTestImplementation 'androidx.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.1.1'

Error apply plugin: 'com.google.gsm.google-services' also added classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.2.0'

I am using firebase real-time database. when i want to sync gradle i get this error message:
Plugin with id 'com.google.gsm.google-services' not found.
I have already download google-services.json and add it to my app folder in project view
and I already tried many classpathes include:
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.2.0'
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.3.1'
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:3.0.0'
project gradle:
{buildscript
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
}
dependencies {
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.4.2'
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.2.0'
// NOTE: Do not place your application dependencies here; they belong
// in the individual module build.gradle files
}
}
allprojects {
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
}
}
task clean(type: Delete) {
delete rootProject.buildDir
}
and my module app is:
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'
android {
compileSdkVersion 28
defaultConfig {
applicationId "com.example.esppad.friendlychat2"
minSdkVersion 21
targetSdkVersion 28
versionCode 1
versionName "1.0"
testInstrumentationRunner "android.support.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android-optimize.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
}
dependencies {
implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:1.1.3'
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test:runner:1.0.2'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.0.2'
implementation 'com.github.bumptech.glide:glide:3.6.1'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-database:19.0.0'
}
apply plugin: 'com.google.gsm.google-services'
apply plugin: 'com.google.gsm.google-services' must not be placed inside dependencies
Add it after dependencies like below,
dependencies {
implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:1.1.3'
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test:runner:1.0.2'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.0.2'
implementation 'com.github.bumptech.glide:glide:3.6.1'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-database:19.0.0'
}
apply plugin: 'com.google.gsm.google-services'
You have a typo in this line: apply plugin: 'com.google.gsm.google-services' it should be gms not gsm, like this:
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'
android {
compileSdkVersion 28
defaultConfig {
applicationId "com.example.esppad.friendlychat2"
minSdkVersion 21
targetSdkVersion 28
versionCode 1
versionName "1.0"
testInstrumentationRunner "android.support.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android-optimize.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
}
dependencies {
implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:1.1.3'
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test:runner:1.0.2'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.0.2'
implementation 'com.github.bumptech.glide:glide:3.6.1'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-database:19.0.0'
}
apply plugin: 'com.google.gms.google-services'

How to solve Could not find com.google.gms:google-services:4.1.0.?

I have encountered this error :
Could not find com.google.gms:google-services:4.1.0.
Required by:

I have tried the other solutions shown on stack overflow from the other people who have asked the same questions:

I would like this error to be resolved so that I can successfully build my project.
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
you are adding plugins more than one. please try it
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'
apply plugin: 'kotlin-android-extensions'
apply plugin: 'kotlin-android'
android {
compileSdkVersion 28
defaultConfig {
applicationId "sg.edu.singaporetech.teamproject"
minSdkVersion 26
targetSdkVersion 28
versionCode 1
versionName "1.0"
multiDexEnabled true
testInstrumentationRunner "android.support.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
compileOptions {
sourceCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
targetCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
}
}
dependencies {
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-core:16.0.8'
implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support:design:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:1.1.3'
implementation 'com.facebook.android:facebook-login:4.41.0'
implementation 'com.firebaseui:firebase-ui-auth:4.3.1'

androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test:runner:1.0.2'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.0.2'
implementation 'com.android.support:support-v4:28.0.0'
implementation "org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-stdlib-jdk7:$kotlin_version"

}
buildscript {
dependencies {
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.1.0'
}
}
apply plugin: 'com.google.gms.google-services'
UPDATED
Try to use this latest version 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.2.0'
I think you need to separate these build.grdle file in two parts. First will project level build.gradle and second will be 'app' (module) level build.gradle.
Project Level Gradle will have :-
apply plugin: 'com.google.gms.google-services'
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
mavenCentral()
maven { url "https://dl.bintray.com/android/android-tools" }
}
buildscript {
dependencies {
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.1.0'
}
}
And app (module) level build.gradle will have
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'
apply plugin: 'kotlin-android-extensions'
apply plugin: 'kotlin-android'
android {
compileSdkVersion 28
defaultConfig {
applicationId "sg.edu.singaporetech.teamproject"
minSdkVersion 26
targetSdkVersion 28
versionCode 1
versionName "1.0"
multiDexEnabled true
testInstrumentationRunner "android.support.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
compileOptions {
sourceCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
targetCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
}
}
dependencies {
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-core:16.0.8'
implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support:design:28.0.0'
implementation 'com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:1.1.3'
implementation 'com.facebook.android:facebook-login:4.41.0'
implementation 'com.firebaseui:firebase-ui-auth:4.3.1'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-auth:16.2.0'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-core:16.0.8'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-database:16.1.0'
implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-storage:16.1.0'
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test:runner:1.0.2'
androidTestImplementation 'com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.0.2'
implementation 'com.android.support:support-v4:28.0.0'
implementation "org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-stdlib-jdk7:$kotlin_version"
implementation 'com.jjoe64:graphview:4.2.1'
}
You may also need to add few more things in project level gradle file.

Update your project build.gradle to use the latest version of the plugin:
buildscript {
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
}
dependencies {
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.1.3'
classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.0.1' // <== CHANGED
}
}
allprojects {
repositories {
google()
jcenter()
}
}
task clean(type: Delete) {
delete rootProject.buildDir
}
