gradle: Error running 'Unnamed': No task to execute is specified - android

I got an Android app for further development as a zip file. I unzipped and opened this in Jetbrains IDEA File> Open (Folder Address).
IDEA immediately realized that it was an android app.
This did not start.
Later I copied the gradle to C: \ Gradle and added it to the path (works well, see gradle -v in the screenshot).
But I still get errors below. How you could help. Thanks.

Build failing when running an Android app with Bazel

I am trying to follow a tutorial to build an Android app using Bazel as given here:
https://docs.bazel.build/versions/master/tutorial/android-app.html. The app is being built successfully with the command:
bazel build //src/main:app
However, when I try to run the app using the command bazel mobile-install //src/main:app the build is failing with the following error:
INFO: Analyzed target //src/main:app (0 packages loaded, 0 targets configured).
INFO: Found 1 target...

How to solve this issue?
It looks like bazel is using python2 (the py2 from darwin-py2-opt-exec-2B5CBBC6 from the file paths), but from concurrent import futures in incremental_install.py doesn't work in python2.
If you don't have python3 installed, try installing it and seeing if that fixes the problem.
If you do have python3 installed, then check your bazel version, older versions of bazel might be defaulting to python2.

Cannot find apk architecture when run command "ionic cordova run android"

When I run command
ionic cordova run android
build is succeeded but app cannot be run on my android device.
The error log is as:

Built the following apk(s):
Error: Could not find apk architecture: arm build-type: debug
[ERROR] An error occurred while running subprocess cordova.
cordova run android exited with exit code 1.
Re-running this command with the --verbose flag may provide more information.
Under the directory platforms/android/build/outputs/apk, there is only one folder called debug under which there are two file android-debug.apk and output.json.
apk
|---debug
|---android-debug.apk
|---output.json
I suspect there should be some arm architecture file in apk directory, but I don't know how to generate it.
Can you help me to solve this run android error?
To avoid extended discussions in comments, let me summarise the workaround as below:
Try to run below command to build the apk first.
cordova build android
or
ionic cordova build android
Look for the apk from platforms\android and manually install it.
How to automatically build the android-debug.apk in app folder?
the .json file is auto generated, usually you don't need to touch it.
By default, the apk path is under app/build/outputs/apk, you can copy it to a custom location wherever you prefer, for your case, maybe it is app/ root directory. You can do this with many means, e.g. bash scripts. Below gradle snippets is how I do this task, just copy below code to the end of your app/build.gradle:
def capitalizeFirstLetter(s) { s[0].toUpperCase() + s[1..-1] }
def publish = project.tasks.create("copyApks")
publish.description "Copies apks to custom directory"
android.applicationVariants.all { variant ->
def customPath
variant.outputs.all {
customPath = "$projectDir"
def capitalizedVariantName = capitalizeFirstLetter(variant.name)
def task = project.tasks.create("copy${capitalizedVariantName}Apk", Copy)
task.from(outputFile)
task.into(customPath)
task.dependsOn variant.assemble
publish.dependsOn task
}
}
From your command line, run ./gradlew copyApks or gradlew copyApks on macOS or Windows respectively.
Then you will find your apk is under app\ directory.

Build VLC for Android project failed on Ubuntu 12.04

I want to work on the VLC for Android project. So first I need to compile this project, I follow all the steps on https://wiki.videolan.org/AndroidCompile/ but when I do the sh compile.sh -a armeabi-v7a at the end I have this error:
contribs: make failed
Error:Execution failed for task ':libvlc:buildDebugARMv5'. > Process 'command './compile-libvlc.sh'' finished with non-zero exit value 1
I am working with Android Studio.
Update
So I have download a ubuntu 12.04 vm and I have build the VLC android project on it. The same error appear but it told me also that my gettext was to old and it should be at 0.19.1 version or later.
So I quit the VM and I checked my gettext version (0.18.4) on my real machine, I put the gettext update and it is know 0.19.4 version.
I build the project and contribs: make failed error is gone but this is know the new error :
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
* Where:
Build file '/home/edouard/3DSoundLabs/android/android/build.gradle' line: 16
* What went wrong:
A problem occurred evaluating root project 'android'.

> Specified SDK directory './3DSoundLabs/android/android-sdk-linux/' in 'local.properties' is not found.
* Try:
Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace. Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output.
BUILD FAILED
Here is my local.properties and it's seems to be good, I don't understand
local.properties :
sdk.dir=./3DSoundLabs/android/android-sdk-linux/
ndk.dir=./3DSoundLabs/android/android-ndk-r10e/
RESOLVED !!
Okay so for the second error it was just a problem of path, my bad.
Correction :
sdk.dir=../android-sdk-linux/
ndk.dir=../android-ndk-r10e/
So the principal error was my version of gettext that was to old, and I didn't found it at the begening because log did not tell this problem.
You have not mentioned which bit version of Ubuntu you are using and VLC AndroidComile wiki says
very up-to-date versions of those tools.
So I went ahead and tested on 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04.
Here is what I did
Installed minimum required packages:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ant autoconf automake autopoint cmake gawk gcc g++ libtool m4 patch pkg-config libprotobuf-dev libprotobuf-c0-dev protobuf-c-compiler ragel subversion unzip
Navigated to VLC Android directory and run:
./compile.sh

specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR'
flag during linking and do at least one of the following:
- add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable
during execution
- add LIBDIR to the `LD_RUN_PATH' environment variable
during linking
- use the `-Wl,-rpath -Wl,LIBDIR' linker flag
- have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/ld.so.conf'

But then it hanged there forever (probably, because of conflict in proxy configurations). ps x revealed:
/bin/sh ./compile.sh
java -Dorg.gradle.appname=gradlew -classpath /<...>/vlc/android/gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.jar org.gradle.wrapper.GradleWrapperMain assembleVanillaARMv7Debug
So, I decided to cancel Ctrl+C ./compile.sh and try to import the project to Android Studio.
Launched the AS and chose "Open an existing Android Studio project". AS also fetched some packages from jcenter and bingo (this time for real)!

I found another guide which helped me get this build working correctly.
The part that did it for me was the downloading and installation of protobuf3. Once I did that, vlc built for me.
Here's the snippet from the tutorial that made everything work
Download:
https://github.com/google/protobuf/releases/download/v3.1.0/protobuf-cpp-3.1.0.tar.gz
Then do:
sudo tar zxvf ./protobuf-cpp-3.1.0.tar.gz # decompression
cd ./protobuf-3.1.0/ # Extracted folder
./configure # Run configure
make
make check
sudo make install
make clean
sudo ldconfig # Update shared library cache
After this, running:
./compile.sh
worked correctly.
I have rebuilt libvlc on Ubuntu 14.04 since my attempt above on Ubuntu 16.04, and I noticed that this didn't fix my issue for Ubuntu 14.04. Once I created another Ubuntu 16.04 VM, this seamed to do the trick.
I think it's also related to the gettext program. Libvlc might be requiring a version of gettext only available on 16.04.
Building VLC player is really complex task and takes a lot of time. And error you get it's just first of many errors you'll try to fix on your way.
I'll suggest to you an easy way - not build VLC by yourself. Main ideas is - if you don't want to modify VLC sources it would be enough to get .so file from original VLC.apk(you could just unzip an apk) and copy org.videolan.libvlc.* files from vlc sources in your project.
You could check this project to get an idea how it could work.
After four days of New Year holiday I found the way to build this project.
Thanks ozbek and all helps.
I install ubuntu 15.10 again and clone it from https://github.com/hieu19926/vlc
Because I can't clone from origin site.
Following wiki of vlc to build, and following ozbek above.
Maybe you will have error of curl, following: curl Failed to connect to localhost port 80
or: https://github.com/rvm/rvm/issues/2989
That say: $echo ip4 >> ~/.curlrc
and logout, login again.
After step 2, if you see error of contrib, if it is iconv error, just edit in file: $vi vlc/contrib/src/iconv/rules.mak
line 26: comment out this line:
$(APPLY) $(SRC)/iconv/libiconv-android-ios.patch
And rebuild, it will run longer than before and successfully
Now I continue to find how to import libvlc to android studio T_T, Anyone who can remember some lib to install after build success, Please comment or post here for everyone, thanks!

Build Android project on command line on OSX: Task 'assembleDebug' not found in root project

I'm trying to build Android projects on the OSX (Mavericks 10.9.5) command line using this how-to: http://developer.android.com/tools/building/building-cmdline.html.
This How-To explains the use of assembleDebug/assembleRelease to build an Android project.
Unfortunately gradle doesn't create the assembleDebug or assembleRelease targets.
Executing ./gradlew assembleDebug returns this:
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
* What went wrong:
Task 'assembleDebug' not found in root project 'test'.
* Try:
Run gradlew tasks to get a list of available tasks. Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace. Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output.

What am I missing to be able to build an Android project on the command line?
android create project does not create a gradle friendly structure. It creates an ant friendly structure. You have two options depending on your intentions.
use ant to build your project ( not currently supported by Android team )
use Android Studio to generate a gradle friendly project structure.
num 2 is the recommended approach by the Android team. It's as simple as dl'ing Android Studio and creating a new project. From there you should be able to create a new project that can be built with ./gradlew build
try This:
./android create project -p AppPAKTGV -a Main -k com.example.apppaktgv -t android-23 -g -v 0.11.+
it's works but when i try target 24 or 25 not work i don't now
Try to do this and note
a) you need to type tools/android under Step 3 (like step 2: Execute)
-- but as said the ant structure is not helpful
-- not sure I can go from there
b) I follow the advice and also ensure get the platform-tools
-- I can build
-- I can get that .apk
-- I can adb install (I rename any existing .apk)
Seems working!

Cannot build cordova project successfully error while executing ant debug command

I was having an error that is Camera not successful invoked on first try (click) so I tried this solution on stackoverflow Phonegap(3.0.0) Camera not successful on first try.
I followed the steps as mentioned in the answer removed android by cordova platform remove android then I run the second command cordova platform add android ;
Now when I use netbeans to run the cordova application on cordova android decvice this error occurs:

any idea about this problem?
I was having a similar issue. I ran ant debug -f "/path/to/project/build.xml" from a separate terminal. It displayed a more specific description of the error (which for me wast that there was a space in the project name). This answer also notes:
config.xml can't have a widget id with number as a first character
after a dot. For example: com.42myapp.test or com.myapp.42test won't
work as well as 42com.myapp.test. It will trigger an error from the
compiler.
I was facing similar issues when i started using the CLI to build apps using cordova and started checking the internet for solutions. While i was at it, i discovered the following things that may help you or anyone else facing the same problem can take some hints from this:
These are some very basic checks that you need to take
1. make sure you have all the required sdk's in place (ANT, Java, Android) and is available when you use these commands on the terminal/command $ ant $ java $ adt. if any of these commands are not found, then you need to get it installed or get the class paths fixed.
make sure your project path does not have spaces. i.e. do not have spaces or special characters in directory names. this issue seems to have been fixed on latest versions of cordova and phonegap, but either cases it is a good practice to follow as ant and java paths could be dependent on the folder names you make.
use -d or -v to get extra debug information on the build process to know where and what is causing the issue. $ cordova build android -d or $ cordova build android -v
Make sure you dont use "#" as the link attribute of author tag in the cordova config.xml on the root of the project. This expects the compiler to interpret a hexadecimal color and fails the build. (this was my problem)
Hope this helps.
er... Happy debugging??
Make sure your Ant is 1.8.0 or later version. Cordova 3.3 demands that.
In the past several days, I found that the conflicting files from Dropbox had a very long name. After renaming it, everything worked.
