There is a problem when I enable dataBinding in app/build.gradle that gives me this error: "Error:Failed to resolve: support-v4". Below is the build file with dependencies and libraries:

I added the support-v4 but it didn't solve the problem and also there is no issue when removing the dataBinding part. What causes the problem?

Changes I made:
Removed duplicate google repo
Removed testing dependencies, as I don't think you use it.
I resolved my issue by updating my android studio to recent version.

This can be fixed by uncheck the offline work in settings->Build,Execution Deployment->gradle.Hope it will help for you.
I am making a app which registers fingerprint of the employees for registration. However I am facing difficulty in implementing the external fingerprint device SDK in my app. I have imported it as module but the gradle keeps on giving me error on syncing and the sync fails with error message as:

Unable to merge dex
You have a dependencies conflict. Try to see your dependencies via command ./gradlew app:dependencies (Details here ). And you will see the next situation:
As you can see android-mail depends on android-activation. I think you don't need to use the line implementation 'com.sun.mail:android-activation:1.6.1'
P.S. For debugging builds you can use the next flag "--stacktrace". Then you can see more information about your issue.

I'm using a fully updated AndroidStudio with the default gradle support.
Android Studio can self update (thus sees Internet for sure).
I have no reason to beleive that Gradle can't reach the internet nor any error that could imply that, and I verified that it's not on offline mode.
