In my project I have a WebView in a fragment which loads a page from the internet. I want to set a listener on a button in that page so that when the user clicks on it I am able to move to a different fragment. I don't have the code for the webpage that is being loaded.
I was able to implement an onClick listener for the WebView itself by using this answer, but I can't think of a way to intercept the button press specifically inside the WebView.
Any suggestions on how to implement something like this? Thanks.
You can use WebViewClient.shouldOverrideUrlLoading to detect every URL changes on your WebViewClient and according to that you can open the particular fragment instead of setting click listener of a button in webview
You should set up WebViewClient for your WebView . Here is a simple snippet:

Add a function to your button that calls alert("abc") in your web page.
Afterwards add following in your android code. The code will intercept your alert and you can implement your own code.

All the above answers were good workarounds, however, I ended up using this solution and followed the guide on Android Developers page to enable JavaScript Binding. Note that Android interface needs to be used in the JavaScript file in order for the interception to work.
I created a WebView App and it's working fine but there is a link which I want it to open in the default browser instead of that app what can I do.
Add a WebViewClient to your webView (if not already added) and then override shouldOverrideUrlLoading () method:

This way your are telling your webview to not continue loading a specific url. Instead, launch the proper application (mostly a browser) to handle the url.
I want to create android application which will open url in same application as like facebook application without any browser.
I tried using WebView but it opens the url in browser.
You have to set up a webViewClient for your webView.

Create your own WebViewClient:

If I understand the question correctly you might want to implement your own WebViewClient. That will allow you to handle the page navigation. Check out the link for a tutorial from Google.

That should prevent access to anything. You need to handle specific URL's in this function if you want to allow them.
So right now in my app the URL I'm accessing has a redirect, and when this happens the WebView will open a new browser, instead of staying in my app. Is there a way I can change the settings so the View will redirect to the URL like normal, but stay in my app instead of opening a new browser?

I want the redirecting URL, I just don't know how to create it, so the only way to get to that URL is through one that will cause a redirect to the one I want.
For example: When you go here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_box_/k=9780735622777 notice how it will redirect the URL to the actual product. In my app, if I open it in a new browser, it will do that just fine, however if I keep it in my app with a WebView, it will show up as though it's doing a search for k=9780735622777, like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_?k=k%3D9780735622777&x=0&y=0 . OR, it will open the view in the browser and show what is appropriate. However, I want to keep everything in my app.
Create a WebViewClient, and override the shouldOverrideUrlLoading method.

According to the official documentation, a click on any link in WebView launches an application that handles URLs, which by default is a browser. You need to override the default behavior like this
myWebView.setWebViewClient(new WebViewClient() {

Just adding a default custom WebViewClient will do. This makes the WebView handle any loaded urls itself.
