Notifications is not shown in some devices - android

I use this code to show notifications users of my app.
On some devices, this code works perfectly, but some devices do not show a notification at all.
Is someone know what is the problem?
private void sendNotification(String title, String messageBody, Map<String, String> allData) {
Intent intent = new Intent(this, ReferralPage.class);
intent.putExtra("title", title);
intent.putExtra("text", messageBody);
String tid = allData.get("tid");
intent.putExtra("tid", tid);
intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0 /* Request code */, intent,
PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT);
Uri defaultSoundUri = RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(RingtoneManager.TYPE_NOTIFICATION);
NotificationCompat.Builder notificationBuilder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, "CH_"+tid)
.setSmallIcon(com.escodes.R.mipmap.ic_launcher)
.setContentTitle(title)
.setContentText(messageBody)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setSound(defaultSoundUri)
.setContentIntent(pendingIntent)
.setPriority(NotificationCompat.PRIORITY_MAX);
NotificationManager notificationManager =
(NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
long time = new Date().getTime();
String tmpStr = String.valueOf(time);
String last4Str = tmpStr.substring(tmpStr.length() - 5);
int notificationId = Integer.valueOf(last4Str);
notificationManager.notify(notificationId, notificationBuilder.build());
}

You need to add a notification channel for API 26 and above, like this:
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= 26) {
String CHANNEL_ID = "ID_OF_THE_CHANNEL";
NotificationChannel channel = new NotificationChannel(CHANNEL_ID,
"name_of_the_channel",
NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_DEFAULT);
((NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE)).createNotificationChannel(channel);
Notification notification = new NotificationCompat.Builder(getApplicationContext(), CHANNEL_ID)
.setContentTitle("title")
.setContentText("text")
...
...
.build();
}

Notifications not pushed with android 10

I am working on Android App with Firebase notification service FCM. and I recives notification successfully. but after I recive it is not showin in Android 10 (it work in 9 and 8 and smaller versions).
This is my showing notification code, I dont know what I missed. I check about if there is any changed with 10 but I dont see that...
My method:
private void sendNotification(String messageBody, String title) {
Intent intent;
if(type.equals("order_pending") || type.equals("order_declined")){
intent = new Intent(this, myOrdersActivity.class);
}else { intent = new Intent(this, MainActivity.class); }
intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0 /* Request code */, intent,
PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT);
String channelId = getString(R.string.default_notification_channel_id);
Uri defaultSoundUri = RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(RingtoneManager.TYPE_NOTIFICATION);
NotificationCompat.Builder notificationBuilder =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, channelId)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.logo)
.setContentTitle(title)
.setContentText(messageBody)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setSound(defaultSoundUri)
.setContentIntent(pendingIntent);
NotificationManager notificationManager =
(NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
int f =0;
// Since android Oreo notification channel is needed.
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
NotificationChannel channel = new NotificationChannel(channelId,
"Channel human readable title",
NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_HIGH);
notificationManager.createNotificationChannel(channel);
}
// EventBus.getDefault().post(eventObject);
if (PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this).getBoolean("isActive", true)) {
notificationManager.notify(0 /* ID of notification */, notificationBuilder.build());
Intent dialogIntent = new Intent(this, MainActivity.class)
.putExtra("ac", "1");
// sendBroadcast(dialogIntent);
dialogIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
f =1;
// startActivity(dialogIntent);
}
if(f==0) {
notificationManager.notify(0 /* ID of notification */, notificationBuilder.build());
}
}
Any help please?
and Thanks
The ship has sailed, but:
worked skeleton (Java):
void sendNotif(int icon, String sText) {
String channel_id = "1002";
String sTitle = getString(R.string.app_name);
Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(this, activityMain.class);
notificationIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP);
PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent, 0);
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
// Android 8.0 (API level 26) and higher
// https://developer.android.com/training/notify-user/build-notification
CharSequence name = "statusbar";
String description = getString(R.string.app_name);
int importance = NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_DEFAULT;
NotificationChannel channel = new NotificationChannel(channel_id, name, importance);
channel.setDescription(description);
// Register the channel with the system; you can't change the importance
// or other notification behaviors after this
NotificationManager notificationManager = getSystemService(NotificationManager.class);
notificationManager.createNotificationChannel(channel);
NotificationCompat.Builder builder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, channel_id)
.setSmallIcon(icon)
/*.setContentTitle(sTitle)*/
.setContentText(sText)
.setPriority(NotificationCompat.PRIORITY_DEFAULT)
// Set the intent that will fire when the user taps the notification
.setContentIntent(contentIntent)
.setAutoCancel(false);
// notificationId is a unique int for each notification that you must define
// and remember for delete notification
notificationManager.notify(0, builder.build());
}
else {
// Android 7.1 (API level 25) and lower
NotificationManager mNotificationManager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
Notification notification = new Notification.Builder(getApplicationContext())
.setTicker(sTitle)
.setContentTitle(sTitle)
.setContentText(sText)
.setSmallIcon(icon)
.setWhen(System.currentTimeMillis())
.setContentIntent(contentIntent)
.build();
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_NO_CLEAR;
// for BIG icon:
//notification.contentView.setImageViewResource(android.R.id.icon, R.drawable.icon);
mNotificationManager.notify(0, notification);
}
}

How to group android notifications like whatsapp? as setGroup not work for me

I am currently test on Oreo and lollipop devices. What I am done so far:
final static String GROUP_KEY_NOTIFY = "group_key_notify";
int notificationId0 = 100;
int notificationId1 = 101;
int notificationId2 = 102;
int notificationId3 = 103;
NotificationCompat.Builder builderSummary =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(this)
.setSmallIcon(android.R.drawable.ic_dialog_info)
.setContentTitle("A Bundle Example")
.setContentText("You have 3 new messages")
.setGroup(GROUP_KEY_NOTIFY)
.setGroupSummary(true);
NotificationCompat.Builder builder1 =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(this)
.setSmallIcon(android.R.drawable.ic_dialog_info)
.setContentTitle("New Message")
.setContentText("You have a new message from Kassidy")
.setGroup(GROUP_KEY_NOTIFY);
NotificationCompat.Builder builder2 =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(this)
.setSmallIcon(android.R.drawable.ic_dialog_info)
.setContentTitle("New Message")
.setContentText("You have a new message from Caitlyn")
.setGroup(GROUP_KEY_NOTIFY);
NotificationCompat.Builder builder3 =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(this)
.setSmallIcon(android.R.drawable.ic_dialog_info)
.setContentTitle("New Message")
.setContentText("You have a new message from Jason")
.setGroup(GROUP_KEY_NOTIFY);
NotificationManager notifyMgr =
(NotificationManager) getSystemService(NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
notifyMgr.notify(notificationId1, builder1.build());
notifyMgr.notify(notificationId2, builder2.build());
notifyMgr.notify(notificationId3, builder3.build());
notifyMgr.notify(notificationId0, builderSummary.build());
What I am noticing, if there is 4 or more notifications occurs then they are bundled together but when there are less than 4 notification they are not bundled in android device above N. I read the documentations and doing what they are saying like using setGroup method and make separate notification object for summaryNotification. But nothing gets work for me.
You can use this link for reference for creating bundled notification.
Example:
String GROUP_KEY_WORK_EMAIL = "com.android.example.WORK_EMAIL";
Notification newMessageNotification = new
NotificationCompat.Builder(MainActivity.this, CHANNEL_ID)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.new_mail)
.setContentTitle(emailObject.getSenderName())
.setContentText(emailObject.getSubject())
.setLargeIcon(emailObject.getSenderAvatar())
.setGroup(GROUP_KEY_WORK_EMAIL)
.build();
Notification summaryNotification =
new NotificationCompat.Builder(MainActivity.this, CHANNEL_ID)
.setContentTitle(emailObject.getSummary())
//set content text to support devices running API level < 24
.setContentText("Two new messages")
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.ic_notify_summary_status)
//build summary info into InboxStyle template
.setStyle(new NotificationCompat.InboxStyle()
.addLine("Alex Faarborg Check this out")
.addLine("Jeff Chang Launch Party")
.setBigContentTitle("2 new messages")
.setSummaryText("janedoe#example.com"))
//specify which group this notification belongs to
.setGroup(GROUP_KEY_WORK_EMAIL)
//set this notification as the summary for the group
.setGroupSummary(true)
.build();
NotificationManagerCompat notificationManager = NotificationManagerCompat.from(this);
notificationManager.notify(emailNotificationId1, newMessageNotification);
notificationManager.notify(SUMMARY_ID, summaryNotification);
You have to bundle the notifications into a group using Summary Notification Builder to ensure proper grouping. Below is my working code:
NotificationManager notificationManager;
NotificationCompat.Builder summaryNotificationBuilder;
int bundleNotificationId = 100;
int singleNotificationId = 100;
private void notificationGroup(Map<String, String> message) {
// Create Notification
String contentTitle = message.get("contentTitle");
String contentText = message.get("contentText");
Bitmap bm = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getApplication().getResources(),
R.drawable.user3);
Uri defaultSoundUri = RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(RingtoneManager.TYPE_NOTIFICATION);
notificationManager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
// Notification Group Key
String groupKey = "bundle_notification_" + bundleNotificationId;
// Notification Group click intent
Intent resultIntent = new Intent(this, MainActivity.class);
resultIntent.putExtra("notification", "Summary Notification");
resultIntent.putExtra("notification_id", bundleNotificationId);
resultIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
PendingIntent resultPendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, bundleNotificationId, resultIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
// We need to update the bundle notification every time a new notification comes up
if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= android.os.Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
if (notificationManager.getNotificationChannels().size() < 2) {
NotificationChannel groupChannel = new NotificationChannel("bundle_channel_id", "bundle_channel_name", NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_LOW);
notificationManager.createNotificationChannel(groupChannel);
NotificationChannel channel = new NotificationChannel("channel_id", "channel_name", NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_DEFAULT);
notificationManager.createNotificationChannel(channel);
}
}
summaryNotificationBuilder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, "bundle_channel_id")
.setGroup(groupKey)
.setGroupSummary(true)
.setContentTitle(contentTitle)
.setContentText(contentText)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.app_logo)
.setLargeIcon(bm)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setContentIntent(resultPendingIntent);
if (singleNotificationId == bundleNotificationId)
singleNotificationId = bundleNotificationId + 1;
else
singleNotificationId++;
// Individual notification click intent
resultIntent = new Intent(this, NotificationActivity.class);
resultIntent.putExtra("notification", "Single Notification");
resultIntent.putExtra("notification_id", singleNotificationId);
resultIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
resultPendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, singleNotificationId, resultIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
NotificationCompat.Builder notification = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, "channel_id")
.setGroup(groupKey)
.setContentTitle(contentTitle)
.setContentText(contentText)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.app_logo)
.setLargeIcon(bm)
.setSound(defaultSoundUri)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setGroupSummary(false)
.setContentIntent(resultPendingIntent);
notificationManager.notify(singleNotificationId, notification.build());
notificationManager.notify(bundleNotificationId, summaryNotificationBuilder.build());
}
Happy Coding!

Set notification in loop until user click

here is my code of notification:
private void APP_FOREGROUND_showNotificationMessage(Context context, String title, String message, Intent intent) {
intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT);
String channelId = "CHANNEL_ID";
String channelName = "CHANNEL NAME";
NotificationManager manager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
NotificationChannel mChannel = new NotificationChannel(channelId,
channelName,
NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_HIGH);
AudioAttributes attributes = new AudioAttributes.Builder()
.setUsage(AudioAttributes.USAGE_NOTIFICATION)
.build();
mChannel.setDescription(title);
mChannel.enableLights(true);
mChannel.enableVibration(true);
mChannel.setSound(Uri.parse("android.resource://"+context.getPackageName()+"/"+R.raw.offic), attributes); // Here you set the sound
if (manager != null)
manager.createNotificationChannel(mChannel);
}
NotificationCompat.Builder builder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, channelId)
.setSmallIcon(R.mipmap.vb_grey)
.setContentTitle(title)
.setColor(Color.RED)
.setSound(Uri.parse("android.resource://"+context.getPackageName()+"/"+R.raw.offic))
.setContentText(message).setAutoCancel(true).setContentIntent(pendingIntent);
Notification notification = builder.build();
notification.flags = Notification.FLAG_INSISTENT;
manager.notify(0, builder.build());
}
This is my notification code.
I have used .setDefaults(Notification.FLAG_INSISTENT) for looping but notification sound coming one time only.
You can not set the flag by using setDefaults()
You can use the following code:
NotificationCompat.Builder builder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, channelId)
.setSmallIcon(R.mipmap.vb_grey)
.setContentTitle(title)
.setColor(Color.RED)
.setOngoing(true) //<-- you also need this one
.setSound(Uri.parse("android.resource://"+context+context.getPackageName()+"/"+R.raw.offic))
.setContentText(message).setAutoCancel(true).setContentIntent(pendingIntent);
Notification notification = builder.build();
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_INSISTENT;

Custom Notification tray doesn't work for some phones

I am working on an application which sends device to device push notification. I have created a custom notification layout which has a heading, message and two buttons (Accept and Reject). When device B receives a notification from Device A, for some phones it works perfectly, but in some phones the notification tray fails to display the title, message and buttons. It just shows a blank notification tray. Its not an error, but the custom layout doesn't load for some phones. It works perfectly in Moto G5s plus (Android 7.1.1), but doesn't work for RedMi Note 5 Pro, same API level (Android 7.1.1). Can anyone help me with this?
#Override
public void onMessageReceived(RemoteMessage remoteMessage) {
Map<String, String> remoteMessageData = remoteMessage.getData();
String remoteMessageType = remoteMessageData.get("type");
String message = remoteMessageData.get("message") + ". Please Confirm?";
String profilePhoto = remoteMessageData.get("profile_photo");
String notificationUID = remoteMessageData.get("notification_uid");
String userUID = remoteMessageData.get("user_uid");
RemoteViews remoteViews = new RemoteViews(getPackageName(), R.layout.layout_custom_notification);
remoteViews.setTextViewText(R.id.textNotificationMessage, message);
remoteViews.setImageViewBitmap(R.id.eIntercomProfilePic, getBitmapFromURL(profilePhoto));
Notification notification = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this, getString(R.string.default_notification_channel_id))
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.namma_apartment_notification)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setCustomBigContentView(remoteViews)
.setSound(RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(Notification.DEFAULT_SOUND))
.setPriority(PRIORITY_DEFAULT)
.build();
int mNotificationID = (int) System.currentTimeMillis();
Intent acceptButtonIntent = new Intent("accept_button_clicked");
acceptButtonIntent.putExtra("Notification_Id", mNotificationID);
acceptButtonIntent.putExtra("Notification_UID", notificationUID);
acceptButtonIntent.putExtra("User_UID", userUID);
PendingIntent acceptPendingIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 123, acceptButtonIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.buttonAccept, acceptPendingIntent);
Intent rejectButtonIntent = new Intent("reject_button_clicked");
rejectButtonIntent.putExtra("Notification_UID", notificationUID);
rejectButtonIntent.putExtra("Notification_Id", mNotificationID);
rejectButtonIntent.putExtra("User_UID", userUID);
PendingIntent rejectPendingIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 123, rejectButtonIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.buttonReject, rejectPendingIntent);
NotificationManager notificationManager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
/*To support Android Oreo Devices and higher*/
if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= android.os.Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
NotificationChannel mChannel = new NotificationChannel(
getString(R.string.default_notification_channel_id), "Namma Apartments Channel", NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_HIGH);
Objects.requireNonNull(notificationManager).createNotificationChannel(mChannel);
}
}
i think you talking about Oreo or above version. Oreo can not support notification for notification you need to create channel for that like below :
private void sendMyNotification(String message,String title) {
NotificationManager notificationManager =
(NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
Intent intent = new Intent(this, MainActivity.class);
intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP);
PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT);
Uri soundUri= RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(RingtoneManager.TYPE_NOTIFICATION);
if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= android.os.Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
#SuppressLint("WrongConstant")
NotificationChannel notificationChannel=new NotificationChannel("my_notification","n_channel",NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_MAX);
notificationChannel.setDescription("description");
notificationChannel.setName("Channel Name");
notificationManager.createNotificationChannel(notificationChannel);
}
NotificationCompat.Builder notificationBuilder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.listlogo)
.setLargeIcon(BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.tlogo))
.setContentTitle(title)
.setContentText(message)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setSound(soundUri)
.setContentIntent(pendingIntent)
.setDefaults(Notification.DEFAULT_ALL)
.setPriority(NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_MAX)
.setOnlyAlertOnce(true)
.setChannelId("my_notification")
.setColor(Color.parseColor("#3F5996"));
//.setProgress(100,50,false);
notificationManager.notify(0, notificationBuilder.build());
}

Notifications not working with Android oneplus3 phone

I have this function for notification generation.I have updated the code as per oreo requirements as well. What could be the issue here. Any help is appreciated.It is working on all the other phones.I have rechecked the settings for notifications as well
private void sendNotification(String messageTitle,String messageBody) {
android.net.Uri sound;
Intent intent = new Intent(getActivity(), MainActivity.class);
//intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(getActivity(), 0 /* request code */, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
long[] pattern = {500, 500, 500, 500, 500};
Uri defaultSoundUri = RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(RingtoneManager.TYPE_NOTIFICATION);
SharedPreferences demoprefs = getActivity().getSharedPreferences("demo", MODE_PRIVATE);
demiIsLoggedIn = demoprefs.getBoolean("demo", true);
if (!demiIsLoggedIn)
sound = defaultSoundUri;
else
sound = null;
NotificationCompat.Builder notificationBuilder = (NotificationCompat.Builder) new NotificationCompat.Builder(getActivity())
.setSmallIcon(getActivity().getApplicationInfo().icon)
.setContentTitle(messageTitle)
.setContentText(messageBody)
.setAutoCancel(true)
.setVibrate(pattern)
.setLights(Color.BLUE, 1, 1)
.setSound(sound)
.setContentIntent(pendingIntent);
NotificationManager notificationManager = (NotificationManager) getActivity().getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.O) {
String CHANNEL_ID = "my_channel_01";// The id of the channel.
CharSequence name = "notification channel";// The user-visible name of the channel.
int importance = NotificationManager.IMPORTANCE_HIGH;
NotificationChannel mChannel = new NotificationChannel(CHANNEL_ID, name, importance);
notificationManager.createNotificationChannel(mChannel);
}
notificationManager.notify(12 /* ID of notification */, notificationBuilder.build());
Log.d("wajdan","oneplus");
}
Try to set NotificationChannel in notificationBuilder
NotificationCompat.Builder notificationBuilder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(getActivity().getApplicationContext(), "my_channel_01")
