Same fragments in one TabLayout - android

I am trying to develop one activity, which contains TabLayout, which is build using one Fragment, but used a few times (same layout, different data). But when I have such a configuration, my app doesn't even go inside of getItem() method and doesn't show up my layout. Any ideas where is the problem?

You're actually passing in NumOfTabs of 0 when you create the adapter, that's why you're getting an empty view in the ViewPager, and getItem not being called. To fix this, you just need to move your adapter creation line after adding the tabs:

Why is my tab layout for android not working?

I am trying to make a tab sliding activity for my app but I am not able to find what is going wrong.

The code is compiling perfectly but the tabs for fragment1 and fragment2 are not appearing at all.

I think you forget to set up your view pager with tabs try this one.

Note If you are not using AndroidX yet, you need to change following in layout.
Change com.google.android.material.tabs.TabLayout to android.support.design.widget.TabLayout
Chagne androidx.viewpager.widget.ViewPager to android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
But I'll strongly recommend to migrate to AndroidX, see #this answer to understand why.

ViewPager does not show anything

Thanks #MikeM. it all worked now. I removed the LinearLayout surrounding the TabLayout and ViewPager and changed the FrameLayout to RelativeLayout and they all showed up. Thank you!

select default tab after app start

i have an android app with an tab activity und three tabs.
This will be create in my Overview.class
In my OverviewPageAdapter.class i get the correct class and layout for each tab content.
I have a Settings Activity where the user can select a default tab, for example -> tab2
this i will save into the sharedpref.
Now i would like to realize, that tab 2 will be shown as start tab.
How can i do this, that tab 2 each time will be shown at first , when i see the Overview Activity ?

How to set a ViewPager inside a Fragment

I need to place a ViewPager inside of a fragment, but I have two fragments, Fragment 1 is my MENU, and Fragment 2 I want to use as a ViewPagerIndicator.
But a fragment can't have another fragment... what do I need to do for that?

Starting in Android 4.2, there are nested fragments.http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-4.2.html#NestedFragments The support library now also includes support for this for older Android versions.
So you can do something like this:

You must use getChildFragmentManager() instead of getSupportFragmentManager() to get the FragmentManger inside a Fragment.
But you should not use FragmentStatePagerAdapter rather than FragmentPagerAdapter.

Just use getChildFragmentManager() instead of getSupportFragmentManager() inside Fragments.

With the Android Support V4 library, you can add a fragment inside another fragment. Try to use it, it may can resolve your problem.

After Read some examples, you cant have a FragmentActivity inside a fragmentActivity.
Is not necesary to have two fragments and this need be a FragmentPageAdapter... i only need to do this.
