Swipe tabs in dynamic fragment - android

I wanted to implement swipe tabs in a dynamically generated fragment(it has no layout file) and I don't know how. I have tried something, reaching some "results", by that i mean that is shows me the tab layout, but it does not "load" the fragments. I suspect the problem is with the view pager, at the declaration.Here is the code for the fragment:
public class fg_tabs extends Fragment {
LinearLayout root;
TabLayout tab_layout;
ViewPager view_pager;
PagerAdapter pager_adaper;
public fg_tabs() {
// Required empty public constructor
}
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
root = new LinearLayout(getActivity());
root.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
tab_layout = new TabLayout(getActivity());
view_pager = new ViewPager(getActivity());
view_pager.setCurrentItem(2);
tab_layout.addTab(tab_layout.newTab().setText("Penguins"));
tab_layout.addTab(tab_layout.newTab().setText("North Wind"));
tab_layout.addTab(tab_layout.newTab().setText("Dr Octavious Brine"));
tab_layout.setTabGravity(Gravity.FILL);
pager_adaper = new PagerAdapter(getFragmentManager(),tab_layout.getTabCount());
view_pager.setAdapter(pager_adaper);
view_pager.setOnPageChangeListener(new TabLayout.TabLayoutOnPageChangeListener(tab_layout));
tab_layout.setOnTabSelectedListener(new TabLayout.OnTabSelectedListener() {
#Override
public void onTabSelected(TabLayout.Tab tab) {
view_pager.setCurrentItem(tab.getPosition());
}
#Override
public void onTabUnselected(TabLayout.Tab tab) {
}
#Override
public void onTabReselected(TabLayout.Tab tab) {
}
});
root.addView(tab_layout);
return root;
}
}
and you maybe want to take a look at how i call this fragment, see if something is wrong there:
fg_tabs tabs = new fg_tabs();
FragmentManager fm= getSupportFragmentManager();
fm.beginTransaction().replace(R.id.layout_frame,tabs).commit();
the pager adapter class:
public class PagerAdapter extends FragmentStatePagerAdapter {
int n;
public PagerAdapter(FragmentManager fm,int n) {
super(fm);
this.n=n;
}
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
if(position == 0)
return new Penguins();
if(position == 1)
return new NorthWind();
if(position == 2)
return new DrOctaviousBrine();
return null;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return n;
}
}

I think you forgot to add your ViewPager to the view in onCreateView:
ViewGroup.LayoutParams params = LinearLayout.LayoutParams(
ViewGroup.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT,
ViewGroup.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT)
root.addView(view_pager, params);
return root;

I have found the answer for the question, the problem was not setting the params for the viewpager and not giving him an id, and not adding it to the layout. For those who are struglling with the same question, just take the normal swipe tabs code(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcnT-3F-9JA) and keep in mind that you are using a dynamic fragment so you can't declare xml.

ViewPager Cannot find symbol class ScreenSlidePageFragment

I'm trying to develop a swipe slide activity with ViewPager and Fragments. I'm writting this code in the ScreenSlideActivity following tutorial from the Android Documentation.
(https://developer.android.com/training/animation/screen-slide)
But in the code of the tutorial there's a method that's not defined and I have an exception that says 'cannot resolve symbol class ScreenSlidePageFragment'
It seems that this method is not defined but I don't know how to write it because I don't what this method does.
I hope somebody can help me !
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
return new ScreenSlidePageFragment();
}
This is the full code
package com.flixarts.ar.englishnow;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.support.design.widget.FloatingActionButton;
import android.support.design.widget.Snackbar;
import android.support.v4.app.Fragment;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentActivity;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentManager;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentStatePagerAdapter;
import android.support.v4.view.PagerAdapter;
import android.support.v4.view.ViewPager;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentPagerAdapter;
import android.support.v7.app.AppCompatActivity;
import android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar;
import android.view.View;
public class ScreenSlideActivity extends FragmentActivity {
private static final int NUM_PAGES = 3;
private ViewPager mPager;
private PagerAdapter pagerAdapter;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_screen_slide);
mPager = (ViewPager) findViewById(R.id.pager);
pagerAdapter = new ScreenSlidePagerAdapter(getSupportFragmentManager());
mPager.setAdapter(pagerAdapter);
}
#Override
public void onBackPressed() {
if (mPager.getCurrentItem() == 0) {
// If the user is currently looking at the first step, allow the system to handle the
// Back button. This calls finish() on this activity and pops the back stack.
super.onBackPressed();
} else {
// Otherwise, select the previous step.
mPager.setCurrentItem(mPager.getCurrentItem() - 1);
}
}
private class ScreenSlidePagerAdapter extends FragmentStatePagerAdapter {
public ScreenSlidePagerAdapter(FragmentManager fm) {
super(fm);
}
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
return new ScreenSlidePageFragment();
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return NUM_PAGES;
}
}
}
If you don't have this fragment, create it:
public class ScreenSlidePageFragment extends Fragment {
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
ViewGroup rootView = (ViewGroup) inflater.inflate(
R.layout.fragment_screen_slide_page, container, false);
return rootView;
}
}
define public constructor in ScreenSlidePageFragment
public ScreenSlidePageFragment() {
// Required empty public constructor
}
you should create your own Fragment that you can return in your adapter or use the same as the example
public class ScreenSlidePageFragment extends Fragment {
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
ViewGroup rootView = (ViewGroup) inflater.inflate(
R.layout.fragment_screen_slide_page, container, false);
return rootView;
}
}

Android ViewPager displays white screen

I'm trying to create VeiwPager inside a Fragment using FragmentStatePagerAdapter.
it displays the first fragment but after scrolling to the second fragment there is just white fragment (even on scrolling back to the first fragment)
I've tried to use PagerAdapter and set pictures without fragment but the result is same.
is there RAM problem ? what can I do to solve it?
Home fragment(contains ViewPager) :
private void initSlideShow(View view){
VPImageSlider = (ViewPager16by9) view.findViewById(R.id.VPImageSlider);
sliderDotsPanel = (LinearLayout) view.findViewById(R.id.SliderDots);
VPImageSliderAdapter vpImageSliderAdapter = new VPImageSliderAdapter(getFragmentManager());
vpImageSliderAdapter.addSlide(R.drawable.dc_slide_1);
vpImageSliderAdapter.addSlide(R.drawable.dc_slide_2);
vpImageSliderAdapter.addSlide(R.drawable.dc_slide_3);
vpImageSliderAdapter.addSlide(R.drawable.dc_slide_4);
vpImageSliderAdapter.addSlide(R.drawable.dc_slide_5);
VPImageSlider.setAdapter(vpImageSliderAdapter);
}
ViewPager Fragment:
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.support.v4.app.Fragment;
import android.view.LayoutInflater;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.ViewGroup;
import iranelab.samsoft.net.iranelab.Classes.ImageView16by9;
import iranelab.samsoft.net.iranelab.R;
public class ViewPagerFragment extends Fragment {
private static final String ARG_PARAM4 = "imageTest";
private int imageTest;
public ViewPagerFragment() {}
public static ViewPagerFragment newInstance(String imageId, String type, String text,int imageTest) {
ViewPagerFragment fragment = new ViewPagerFragment();
Bundle args = new Bundle();
args.putInt(ARG_PARAM4, imageTest);
fragment.setArguments(args);
return fragment;
}
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
if (getArguments() != null) {
imageTest = getArguments().getInt(ARG_PARAM4);
}
}
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_view_pager, container, false);
ImageView16by9 image = (ImageView16by9) view.findViewById(R.id.IVSlide);
image.setImageResource(imageTest);
return view;
}
}
ViewPager Adapter :
public class VPImageSliderAdapter extends FragmentStatePagerAdapter {
private int[] slides = {};
public VPImageSliderAdapter(FragmentManager fm){
super(fm);
}
public void addSlide(int drawable){
slides = Arrays.copyOf(slides,slides.length+1);
slides[slides.length-1]=drawable;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return slides.length;
}
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
return ViewPagerFragment.newInstance(slides[position]);
}
}
Change
VPImageSliderAdapter vpImageSliderAdapter = new VPImageSliderAdapter(getFragmentManager());
to
VPImageSliderAdapter vpImageSliderAdapter = new VPImageSliderAdapter(getChildFragmentManager());
it will work
Just needed to add :
ViewPager.setOffscreenPageLimit(5);

Add ViewPager in Fragment in Android

I have two fragments: FirstFragment and SecondFragment. FirstFragment contains ViewPager, which has three pages (three fragments). In the onCreate of activty, I add FirstFragment to main layout, and three pages show normally.
Problem is: when I replace FirstFragment by SecondFragment, and then comeback FirstFragment three pages disappear. Then I scroll ViewPager forward and backward, pages show but only first and third pages show, second page disappear.
Here FirstFragment:
package com.example.bkmsx.afragment;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.support.annotation.Nullable;
import android.support.v4.app.Fragment;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentManager;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentPagerAdapter;
import android.support.v4.view.ViewPager;
import android.view.LayoutInflater;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.ViewGroup;
public class FirstFragment extends Fragment {
ViewPager mViewPager;
static MainActivity mainActivity;
public static FirstFragment newInstance(MainActivity activity){
mainActivity = activity;
return new FirstFragment();
}
#Nullable
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, #Nullable ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.first_fragment, null);
mViewPager = (ViewPager) view.findViewById(R.id.view_pager);
ViewPagerAdapter adapter = new ViewPagerAdapter(mainActivity.getSupportFragmentManager());
mViewPager.setAdapter(adapter);
return view;
}
private class ViewPagerAdapter extends FragmentPagerAdapter {
public ViewPagerAdapter(FragmentManager fm) {
super(fm);
}
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
String text = "";
switch (position) {
case 0: text = "First Page";
break;
case 1: text = "Second Page";
break;
case 2: text = "Third Page";
break;
}
return TextFragment.newInstance(mainActivity, text);
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return 3;
}
}
}
SecondFragment:
package com.example.bkmsx.afragment;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.support.annotation.Nullable;
import android.support.v4.app.Fragment;
import android.view.LayoutInflater;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.ViewGroup;
import android.widget.TextView;
public class SecondFragment extends Fragment {
static MainActivity mainActivity;
public static SecondFragment newInstance(MainActivity activity) {
mainActivity = activity;
return new SecondFragment();
}
#Nullable
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, #Nullable ViewGroup container, #Nullable Bundle savedInstanceState) {
TextView textView = new TextView(mainActivity);
textView.setText("New Fragment");
return textView;
}
}
Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.
In FirstFragment , Use this code and try
public View view; // declare view as global variable
#Nullable
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, #Nullable ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
if(view == null){
view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.first_fragment, null);
mViewPager = (ViewPager) view.findViewById(R.id.view_pager);
ViewPagerAdapter adapter = new ViewPagerAdapter(mainActivity.getSupportFragmentManager());
mViewPager.setAdapter(adapter);
}
return view;
}
As Divyesh comment has good suggestion there is also need to add
mViewPager.setOffscreenPageLimit(3);
use ViewPagerAdapter adapter = new ViewPagerAdapter(getChildFragmentManager() ); instead of mainActivity.getSupportFragmentManager()
Try this code Hope it helps
final ViewPager viewPager = (ViewPager) findViewById(R.id.container);
final PagerAdapter adapter = new PaginationAdapter(getSupportFragmentManager(),tabLayout.getTabCount());
viewPager.setAdapter(adapter);
viewPager.addOnPageChangeListener(new TabLayout.TabLayoutOnPageChangeListener(tabLayout));
viewPager.setOffscreenPageLimit(3);
tabLayout.setOnTabSelectedListener(new TabLayout.OnTabSelectedListener() {
#Override
public void onTabSelected(TabLayout.Tab tab) {
viewPager.setCurrentItem(tab.getPosition());
}
#Override
public void onTabUnselected(TabLayout.Tab tab) {
}
#Override
public void onTabReselected(TabLayout.Tab tab) {
}
});

Here I created a simple Tablayout with some options under it. When clicked on particular item the application should open another activity containing the particular class. Could Some one please help how to write the code for item onclick listener .Here I am attaching the code of my TabLayout java class and my versionModel java class with xml included. I am also attaching the screenshot of the app. So as in the screenshot when i click on the Topwear , page containing Topwear should open.

Why tabs are not visible inside fragment?

In my app I want to use swipe views of four tabs inside a fragment. The four tabs are contains different fragments each and all the four fragments are sliding by swipe from right to left or vice versa. The fragments are working fine but the tabs are not visible within the fragment. Anyone have any solution for this. Thanks in advance :)
this is the main fragment which contains the tabs:-
public class DashboardTabFragment extends Fragment implements ActionBar.TabListener {
private static final String ARG_SECTION_NUMBER = "arg_section_number";
private String[] tabTitle = {"Cleanness", "Product Display", "Hygiene", "Asm Visits"};
public static DashboardTabFragment newInstance(int position) {
DashboardTabFragment fragment = new DashboardTabFragment();
Bundle args = new Bundle();
args.putInt(ARG_SECTION_NUMBER, position);
fragment.setArguments(args);
return fragment;
}
private ViewPager viewPager;
public DashboardTabFragment() {
}
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
}
#TargetApi(Build.VERSION_CODES.ICE_CREAM_SANDWICH)
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View rootView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_dashboard_tab, container, false);
setHasOptionsMenu(true);
ActionBar actionBar = ((ActionBarActivity) getActivity()).getSupportActionBar();
assert actionBar != null;
actionBar.setHomeButtonEnabled(false);
actionBar.setNavigationMode(ActionBar.NAVIGATION_MODE_TABS);
actionBar.setHomeButtonEnabled(true);
actionBar.setDisplayOptions(0, ActionBar.DISPLAY_SHOW_TITLE);
viewPager = (ViewPager) rootView.findViewById(R.id.pager);
TabPageAdapter tabPageAdapter = new TabPageAdapter(getActivity().getSupportFragmentManager(), getActivity());
viewPager.setAdapter(tabPageAdapter);
for (String aTabTitle : tabTitle)
actionBar.addTab(actionBar.newTab().setText(aTabTitle).setTabListener(this));
return rootView;
}
This is the adapter for fragments:-
public class TabPageAdapter extends FragmentPagerAdapter {
Context context;
public TabPageAdapter(FragmentManager fm,Context context) {
super(fm);
this.context = context;
}
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
switch (position) {
case 0:
return new CleannessChartFragment(context);
case 1:
return new ProductDisplayChartFragment(context);
case 2:
return new HygieneChartFragment(context);
case 3:
return new AsmVisitsChartFragment(context);
}
return null;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return 4;
}
I found the solution. I used TabHost for tabs with viewpager.
This is my fragment :-
package com.itpp.trt;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.graphics.Color;
import android.os.Build;

import android.widget.Button;
import android.widget.LinearLayout;
import android.widget.TabHost;
public class DashboardTabFragment extends Fragment implements ViewPager.OnPageChangeListener {

private ViewPager mViewPager;
private TabHost tabHost;
private String[] tabSpec = {"Tab_1", "Tab_2", "Tab_3", "Tab_4"};
private String[] tabTitle = {"Cleanness", "Product Display", "Hygiene", "Asm Visits"};
private TabHost.TabContentFactory mFactory = new TabHost.TabContentFactory() {
#Override
public View createTabContent(String tag) {
View v = new View(getActivity());
v.setMinimumHeight(0);
return v;
}
};
public static DashboardTabFragment newInstance(int position) {
DashboardTabFragment fragment = new DashboardTabFragment();
Bundle args = new Bundle();
args.putInt(ARG_SECTION_NUMBER, position);
fragment.setArguments(args);
return fragment;
}
public DashboardTabFragment() {
tabHost = null;
}
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
}
#TargetApi(Build.VERSION_CODES.ICE_CREAM_SANDWICH)
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View rootView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_dashboard_tab, container, false);
mViewPager = (ViewPager) rootView.findViewById(R.id.pager);
mViewPager.setAdapter(new TabPageAdapter(getChildFragmentManager(), getActivity()));
tabHost = (TabHost) rootView.findViewById(android.R.id.tabhost);
tabHost.setup();
mViewPager.setOnPageChangeListener(this);
for (int i = 0; i < tabSpec.length; i++) {
tabHost.addTab(tabHost.newTabSpec(tabSpec[i]).setIndicator(tabTitle[i]).setContent(mFactory));
}
tabHost.setOnTabChangedListener(new TabHost.OnTabChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onTabChanged(String tabId) {
if (tabId.equals("Tab_1")) {
mViewPager.setCurrentItem(0);
} else if (tabId.equals("Tab_2")) {
mViewPager.setCurrentItem(1);
} else if (tabId.equals("Tab_3")) {
mViewPager.setCurrentItem(2);
} else if (tabId.equals("Tab_4")) {
mViewPager.setCurrentItem(3);
}
}
});
return rootView;
}
#Override
public void onAttach(Activity activity) {
super.onAttach(activity);
((MyActivity) activity).onSectionAttached(getArguments().getInt(ARG_SECTION_NUMBER));
}
#Override
public void onPageScrolled(int position, float positionOffset, int positionOffsetPixels) {
}
#Override
public void onPageSelected(int position) {
tabHost.setCurrentTab(position);
}
#Override
public void onPageScrollStateChanged(int state) {
}
#Override
public void onDetach() {
super.onDetach();
}
}
This is my tabpager adapter :-
package com.itpp.trt;
import android.content.Context;
import android.support.v4.app.Fragment;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentManager;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentPagerAdapter;
import android.support.v4.app.FragmentStatePagerAdapter;
/**

public class TabPageAdapter extends FragmentStatePagerAdapter{
Context context;
public TabPageAdapter(FragmentManager fm,Context context) {
super(fm);
this.context = context;
}
#Override
public Fragment getItem(int position) {
switch (position) {
case 0:
return new CleannessChartFragment(context);
case 1:
return new ProductDisplayChartFragment(context);
case 2:
return new HygieneChartFragment(context);
case 3:
return new AsmVisitsChartFragment(context);
}
return null;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return 4;
}
}
Hope this helps other. Thanks :)
