I'm new into react-native and I've cloned one repo and setup project in my system now i'm tryingto run in android.
react-native run-android
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':react-native-vector-icons:compileDebugJavaWithJavac'.
Could not find tools.jar. Please check that C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_111 contains a valid JDK installation.
I've also tried installing vector icons using below link
enter link description here
this may help you :
you should added JDK path org.gradle.java.home=C:\ProgramFiles\Java\jdk1.8.0_161 to gradle.properties file and rebuild your project.

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
Where:
Build file '/Users/User/Desktop/testApp/node_modules/#mauron85/react-native-background-geolocation/android/common/build.gradle' line: 1
What went wrong:
A problem occurred evaluating project ':#mauron85_react-native-background-geolocation-common'.
Failed to apply plugin 'com.android.internal.library'.
The option 'android.enableUnitTestBinaryResources' is deprecated.
The current default is 'false'.
It has been removed from the current version of the Android Gradle plugin.
The raw resource for unit test functionality is removed.
Steps for solution :-
Install patch-package, this will later be used to make the changes permanent. (optional - step)
Now you have to hack the node_modules. Go to node_modules#mauron85\react-native-
background-geolocation\android\common\gradle.properties change below things:-
android.enableUnitTestBinaryResources=true # <-- remove this line
android.builder.sdkDownload=true
Run npx patch-package #mauron85/react-native-background-geolocation to save the patch.
Rebuild the app.
I faced the problem, more correct in gradle, when I enter the command - npx react-native run-android into the console - it gives me the following error :
Starting a Gradle Daemon (subsequent builds will be faster)
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
What went wrong:
A problem occurred configuring root project 'Da'.
Could not resolve all artifacts for configuration ':classpath'.
Could not find com.android.tools.build:gradle:6.4.1.
Searched in the following locations>
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/maven2/com/android/tools/build/gradle/6.4.1/gradle-6.4.1.pom -https://jcenter.bintray.com/com/android/tools/build/gradle/6.4.1/gradle-6.4.1.pom
Initially - the problem was incompatibility between gradle and android versions, but after i changed version of gradle and terminal automatically download new version into directory, first error disappeared, but i got another (current problem). I had try some advice before asking question in StackOverFlow, but they didn't work. Here some characteristics :
React-Native Doctor image
Gradle code : gradle.properties ,
gradle-wrapper.properties
Gradle Directory : Here
Path variables :Here
I appreciate all help (I think, that issue is in PATH, but not sure). By the way - does anyone know, how to add pictures without link?
You are confusing gradle with the gradle plugin.
The gradle plugin 6.4.1 doesn't exist.
Use the latest stable version:
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:4.2.2'
Check also the compatibility with the gradle version:
Plugin version Required Gradle version
4.0.0+ 6.1.1+
4.1.0+ 6.5+
4.2.0+ 6.7.1+
I am trying to build android with Jenkin. But I am getting this compilation error:
Execution failed for task ':app:mergeDebugResources'.
> Multiple task action failures occurred:
> A failure occurred while executing com.android.build.gradle.internal.tasks.Workers$ActionFacade
> Android resource compilation failed
AAPT: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Jenkins\.jenkins\workspace\android_build\app\build\intermediates\res\merged\debug: error: The system cannot find the file specified. (2).
Can anyone else facing this issue. I tried running the build on Android Studio and it works fine. I have defined the sdk path in jenkins and setup gradle also.
Please help.
So I found a solution that worked for me. I was using jenkins:2.277.4, I downgraded the jenkin version to 2.204.6 and suddenly it worked. Also I used war file this time so the path to workspace was smaller as compared to previous install and yeah also use app:build as task for build so you dont get lint error for other libraries.
I am working on a react native application. when I try to build the applications using react-native run-android the build fails. Here is the output of the error that occurs.
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
* What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':app:compileDebugJavaWithJavac'.
> Compilation failed; see the compiler error output for details.
* Try:
Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace. Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output. Run with --scan to get full insights.

The application was on a old version of react native (0.48.x) I have updated it to 0.59.10.
What I have done so far:
used jetifier to resolve issues with the plugins.
checked that the build tools version matches the compile sdk version
checked if the emulator is running.
Hence I have tried everything I could to resolve this but had no luck. Please do guide me on how to resolve this issue. Looking forward to your answers.
make sure you have followed all the necessary steps from the upgrade helper https://react-native-community.github.io/upgrade-helper/?from=0.48.0&to=0.59.10
also i would suggest you to upgrade to v0.60+ because there are breaking changes after v0.59.10.
having said that
before you run the app make sure your gradle is clean
run the following command to clean your gradle cd android && ./gradle clean
then later you can navigate back to your app folder cd .. and try and run again react-native run-android
Looks like your packages not working stable with Android side. It's better be update all packages and react native version to their last stable versions.
If you face with too much error while update, you can create fresh new react native project (with same package name with your current project), install all packages (and their dependencies) and copy your current project's source code to your new project.
Android in React Native does not allow similar packages to reside in the project.
In my case I had react-native-cookies and #react-native-cookies/cookies packages that add similar code to the Kotlin file upon build. This causes issue of similar imports in java JDK.
I removed one and it worked.
SOLVED at the same issue:
My solution was at /android/build.gradle file.
Somehow, the buildscript versions were wrong.
Follow the exact same step of RN documentation and make a totally new & clean project.
And compate the /android/build.gradle file > buildscript & dependencies part.
There should be some version differences.
It matters by your own local env settings.
After changing buildToolsVersion, ndkVersion, classpath, it worked fine again!!
also, remove duplicated libraries, as #Nimantha said.
Flutter project won't run in Android Studio with AndroidX compatibility and returns following errors in Run/Console window:
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':flutter_keyboard_visibility:javaPreCompileDebug'.
Could not resolve all files for configuration ':flutter_keyboard_visibility:debugCompileClasspath'.
Could not find lifecycle-common-java8.jar (androidx.lifecycle:lifecycle-common-java8:2.0.0).
Searched in the following locations:
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/maven2/androidx/lifecycle/lifecycle-common-java8/2.0.0/lifecycle-common-java8-2.0.0.jar
And
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
What went wrong:
A problem occurred configuring root project 'path_provider'.
SDK location not found. Define location with sdk.dir in the local.properties file or with an ANDROID_HOME environment variable.
If you faced those errors just do the following steps:
open Android project in Android Studio (u can open a File or Class in android path then select Open for Editing interface Android Studio like next image)
In Build window select error line then in right side select Affected Modules:
For each modules in opened files (build.gradle) add lifecycle-common-java8 api inside dependencies{} section and then Build project:
dependencies {
...
api "androidx.lifecycle:lifecycle-common-java8:2.2.0"
}
Finally close Android project and run Flutter project.
