I am using seekbar and mediaplayer for a chat app to send and listen voice recorders , I have tried all solutions but seekbar doesn't run with me
my code in adapter
private void updateseek()
{
if(player!=null) {
seekBar.setProgress(player.getCurrentPosition());
if(player.isPlaying())
{
runnable = new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
updateseek();
}
};
handler.postDelayed(runnable,100);
}
else {
seekBar.setProgress(0);
}
}
}
//and i call it in getview in adapter :
player.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
seekBar.setMax(player.getDuration());
player.start();
updateseek();
}
});
and I also implemented setOnSeekBarChangeListener to seekbar , but not working
Related
for repeat audio in mediaplayer write this code but not work correct :
seekBar.setOnSeekBarChangeListener(new SeekBar.OnSeekBarChangeListener() {
#Override
public void onProgressChanged(SeekBar seekBar, int i, boolean b) {
if (b) {
G.mediaPlayer.seekTo(i);
}
if (i >= G.mediaPlayer.getDuration()) {
if (isRepeat) {
G.mediaPlayer.seekTo(0);
G.mediaPlayer.start();
}else {
G.mediaPlayer.seekTo(0);
G.mediaPlayer.pause();
}
}
}
and for play audio do this :
public void playSongWithIndex(final int songIndex) {
progressBar.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
if (music_exist.exists()) {
playMusicOfflineMode();
} else {
try {
G.mediaPlayer.reset();
G.mediaPlayer.setDataSource(songList.get(songIndex).getFile_128());
G.mediaPlayer.prepareAsync();
G.mediaPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
runOnUiThread(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
}
});
G.mediaPlayer.start();
seekBar.setMax(G.mediaPlayer.getDuration());
progressBar.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE);
timer = new Timer();
timer.schedule(new MainTimer(), 0, 1000);
}
});
} catch (IllegalArgumentException | IllegalStateException | IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}
but repeat audio some times work done and sometimes when seekbar well be over stop and do not work .
please help me how to repeat audio ?
You can set Media player looping to true,use this code:
G.mediaPlayer.setLooping(true);
And if you want to know when the player has finished you should use OnCompletionListener like this:
G.mediaPlayer.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
}
});
ok for help other developer write my correct answer :
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
if (isRepeat) {
G.mediaPlayer.start();
} else {
G.mediaPlayer.seekTo(0);
seekBar.setProgress(0);
current_duration_text.setText("" + utils.milliSecondsToTimer(0));
play_music_img.setImageResource(R.drawable.ic_play_arrow_black_24dp);
}
}
I hope to be useful
i am not sure but i think you can use loop ...for example
mMediaPlayer.setLooping(true);
I am trying to develop a simple test project that plays sound when I tap the button and stop automatically after a few minutes after playing the sound.
Here is a code snippet:
Code for playing:
if (mPlayer != null) mPlayer = null;
mPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.shush_v2);
mPlayer.setLooping(true);
mPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mediaPlayer.start();
}
});
Code for stopping:
if(mPlayer != null && mPlayer.isPlaying()) {
mPlayer.stop();
mPlayer.reset();
mPlayer.release();
mPlayer = null;
}
But sometimes I can still hear two sounds playing after I've stopped the sound.
Have so ever seen this behaviour before?
You should clear your media player.
//example usage of clearing media player when its over.
ourSong.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mp) {
clearMediaPlayer(mp);
}
});
//You can use this to stop media player.
private void clearMediaPlayer(MediaPlayer mp){
if(mp!=null){
mp.stop();
mp.release();// this will clear memory
mp = null;
}
}
public class PlayerApp extends Activity {
Button btnStart;
MediaPlayer mediaPlayer = null;
// Use the handler to stop the Player, after specific time
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_player_app);
btnStart = (Button)findViewById(R.id.btnStart);
btnStart.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View view)
{
// Initialize Player and start it.
// Call the Handler same time.
mediaPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(getApplicationContext(), R.raw.test);
mediaPlayer.start();
startHandler();
}
});
}
private void startHandler()
{
final Handler handler = new Handler();
handler.postDelayed(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
// if Player is not null, then Stop it and Reset Null.
if(mediaPlayer!=null)
{
mediaPlayer.stop();
mediaPlayer = null;
}
}
}, 2500);
}
}
i am making a phone dialer app that play the sound when you press on button the app is working great but after a while i get a random crash because on prepared listener i do not know what is happening and this is the error
java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void android.media.MediaPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(android.media.MediaPlayer$OnPreparedListener)' on a null object reference
at com.alper.pola.andoid.phonedailer.MainActivity$1.onTouch(MainActivity.java:258)
and this is how i cast the media player
if (mLastButton == one) {
MediaPlayer mediaPlayer ;
mediaPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(MainActivity.this,R.raw.one);
mediaPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp1.start();
}
});
mediaPlayer.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp1.release();
}
});
}
if (mLastButton == two) {
MediaPlayer mediaPlayer ;
mediaPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(MainActivity.this,R.raw.two);
mediaPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp2.start();
}
});
mediaPlayer.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp2.release();
}
});
}
if (mLastButton == three) {
MediaPlayer mediaPlayer ;
mediaPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(MainActivity.this,R.raw.three);
mediaPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp3.start();
}
});
mediaPlayer.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp3.release();
}
});
}
if (mLastButton == four) {
MediaPlayer mediaPlayer ;
mediaPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(MainActivity.this,R.raw.four);
mediaPlayer.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp4.start();
}
});
mediaPlayer.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp4.release();
}
});
}
the app is working fine and the same button when i click on it is working but after while the button stop working and i get this crash with every button it start with working fine but after i type a few numbers the app crash
You are using a very inefficient way while dealing with MediaPlayer. Still I'll help you a workaround with this code. Use mediaPlayer.prepare() to initiate the call. Checkout this code:
if (mLastButton == one) {
mp1 = MediaPlayer.create(MainActivity.this,R.raw.one);
mp1.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp1.start();
});
mp1.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mediaPlayer) {
mp1.release();
}
});
mp1.prepare();
}
Do similarly for others. There are much better way to do this but as with your code, this is shortest.
I am trying to find out how to use the android's MediaPlayer method setNextMediaPlayer which should smoothly transition from one player (song) to another. But do not know how to use the method since there is a lack of documentation.
This is what i do and it does not work:
final MediaPlayer mp1 = new MediaPlayer();
final MediaPlayer mp2 = new MediaPlayer();
try {
mp1.setDataSource("http://song1.MP3");
mp2.setDataSource("http://song2.mp3");
mp1.prepareAsync();
mp1.setOnPreparedListener(new OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp1.start();
}
});
mp1.setNextMediaPlayer(mp2);
mp1.setOnCompletionListener(new OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp2.prepareAsync();
mp2.setOnPreparedListener(new OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp2.start();
}
});
}
});
} catch (IllegalArgumentException e) {}
So the first song plays. But after it finishes the second does not start.
Got it to work.
mp1.setDataSource(song1);
mp1.prepareAsync();
mp1.setOnPreparedListener(new OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp1.start();
}
});
//mp1.start();
//mp1.seekTo(1000*100);
mp2.setDataSource(song2);
mp2.prepare();
mp1.setNextMediaPlayer(mp2);
The only problem is that the second mediaplayer cannot be called as async (i.e. mp2.prepareAsync()). I do not know why, but if you try it like that it does not start, which is a bad thing :/.
MediaPlayer setNextMediaPlayer gives a lot of problem what i do is this:
in the onCompletion() reset() the mediaplayer, setDataSource() and prepareAsync().
Something like this
mp1.setDataSource("http://song1.MP3");
mp1.prepareAsync();
mp1.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() {
#Override
public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp1.start();
}
});
mp1.setOnCompletionListener(new MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp1.reset();
//ADD FLAG FOR STOP
try {
mp1.setDataSource("http://song2.mp3");
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
mp1.prepareAsync();
}
});
Then in the onCompletion you need some flag to check if the last song was played to stop, because the code as i posted will loop in the last song.
In my code, I have a start/stop button.I am trying to play an audio clip from the raw folder. On completion of an audio clip, the start/stop button has to change from stop mode to start mode. I don't want to loop the audio. For this,I have called OnCompletionListener. However, the listener is called only once. If the media player is reset and created again, OnCompletionListener is no longer called.
public void playsong(View view) {
if (mySound != null)
{
if (!pause) {mySound.start();
btnStartStop.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.button);
pause = true;
} else {
if (mySound.isPlaying()) {
mySound.stop();
do_it();
}
}
}
}
mySound.setOnCompletionListener(new OnCompletionListener() {
#Override
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mySound) {
do_it();
}
});
public void do_it() {
mySound.reset();
mySound = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.a);
pause = false;
btnStartStop.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.button2);
}
Try this code ?
In this example oncompletionlistner is called everytime
btnDemo.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
if(objPlayer!=null){
if(objPlayer.isPlaying())
stopPlaying(objPlayer);
}
objPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(getApplicationContext(),R.raw.demoaudio);
if(objPlayer.isPlaying())
objPlayer.pause();
else
objPlayer.start();
Log.d("null", "Media Player started!");
if(objPlayer.isLooping() != true){
Log.d("null", "Problem in Playing Audio");
}
objPlayer.setOnCompletionListener(new OnCompletionListener() {
public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mp) {
objPlayer.release();
objPlayer = null;
};
});
}
});
