This is the first time I've encountered this issue with Studio 4.0. Project and app-level files not able to open, below some other file which not able to open:
Android Studio 4.0 - .csv file Not open, displays nothing.
- .java file not open.
- .kt file not open.
Has anyone else seen this behavior before? And solutions? Advice would be appreciated.
I have used this plugin for CSV file read https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/10037-csv-plugin without this plugin Studio working fine.
Go to the folder:
C:\Users\<username>\AndroidStudio4.0\config\plugins
On Linux:
~/.AndroidStudio4.0/config/plugins/
…and delete the csv plugin folder.
This will solve all of the problems. For any other issue, just go to the File menu and sync the project with gradle files.
I had the same issue on MacOS with AndroidStudio2021.1,then I deleted the following folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio2021.1/plugins/CSV
But still not working for me, then I deleted whole folder of AndroidStudio2021.1 directory path is:
~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio2021.1
or You can only delete folder of plugin, It might be work also.
~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio2021.1/plugins
For people using Ubuntu 20.04 and having Android Studio 4.1 installed manually (no snap), you'll find the folder under ~/.local/share/Google/AndroidStudio4.1
I had the same problem on MacOS with Android Studio 4.1. I deleted the following folder and it works now:
~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio4.1/plugins/CSV
I also faced the similar issue, I have used one CSV file into my Android Studio project and downloaded the CSV plugin after that while building gradle it was showing Lint Infrastructure Error.
Then, I have uninstalled the CSV plugin then everything is fine. (Hope this answer would be helpful to the guys who are facing similar type of error)
After update Android Studio 4.1 RC, I getting this issue,
Internal error. Please refer to https://code.google.com/p/android/issues

JRE 1.8.0_242-release-1644-b01 amd64 by JetBrains s.r.o
C:\{AndroidStudioPATH}\jre\jre
please remove the file .local/share/google and Open android studio it will work
Rename the marketplace folder to marketplace_back which is located in
Ubuntu at, .local/share/google
Windows at %USERPROFILE%\.AndroidStudio4.1\config\plugins\ or %AppData%\Roaming\Google.
Version number may change if you are updated.
Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio4.1/plugins
Pop OS ~/.var/app/com.google.AndroidStudio
For MacOS, navigate to the directory: ~/Library/Application Support/AndroidStudio
Delete the marketplace folder or rename it to marketplace_back
I noticed that I had some plugin issues after this change so there may be a better way to do this but at least I'm now able to open Android Studio.
Issue solved: Problem is there on plugins, one of my plugin it's not supporting to latest android studio, So I checked all my application plugin paths.
%appdata%/google/AndroidStudio4.1
or
full path : C:\Users\{USER}\AppData\Roaming\Google
or
path : C:\Users\{USER}\.AndroidStudio4.1\config\plugins
then I opened plugins folder then selected all plugins moved to some other location. then opened studio. I observed no issue to open.
if you need plugins, copy plugin into plugins folder one by one, then open studio. if successfully opened that plugin supported else unsupported.
For Ubuntu users
go to home
press ctrl+h to show hidden folder .local
now go to .local folder
you will find share folder, go inside share folder
find Google folder and delete it
Open Android Studio
Voila !!!
No need to delete the Google folder
Go to .local/share/google (ubuntu press ctrl+h in HOME)
Just Rename marketplace to marketplace_back
And Restart Android Studio.
For Windows Users:
Go to
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Google\AndroidStudio4.1\plugins
Replace marketplace to marketplace_back.
Start Android Studio Now.
This should work fine!
I deleted all the xxxx.plugins folders inside this folder:
%appdata%\Local\JetBrains\Toolbox\apps\AndroidStudio\ch-0
Then it started perfectly. And, also asked me to download missing components for SDK.
Just delete this folder, it works for me:
C:\Users"user"\AppData\Roaming\Google
In my case deleting the plugins folder under C:\Users\{USER}\.AndroidStudio4.0\config did it. After starting android studio the folder will be created it again:
Make a copy of the folder just in case something happends.
For windows Usesr -
you just need to remove 1 file from your file manager
Goto to path -
C:\Users{you user name}.AndroidStudio4.0\config\plugins.
remove folder name "marketplace".
restart your android studio.
If the android studio files are moved to another location (Is it possible to allocate these folders in another place?)
then look for idea.properties file
In my case above file contents were
idea.config.path=E:/Android/.AndroidStudio4.0/config
idea.system.path=E:/Android/.AndroidStudio4.0/system
I renamed marketplace folder (E:\Android\.AndroidStudio4.0\config\plugins\marketplace) and hurray android studio started working.
for win10,you can:
1,open path C:\Users{here is your user name}\AppData\Roaming\Google\AndroidStudio4.1\plugins
2,rename folder 'markerplace' to 'markerplace_backup'
3,launcher android studio
4,rename 'markerplace_backup' to 'markerplace'
5,check updates and update plugin.
is it ok?
I tried the marketplace renaming and the plugins deletion, neither worked. So I downgraded my SDK, downloading the earlier version of Android Studio made everything work.
If someone had used JetBrains Toolbox for downloading android studio, the marketplace folder located at
/home/{user}/.local/share/JetBrains/Toolbox/apps/AndroidStudio/ch-0/201.7042882.plugins/marketplace
Delete that folder and it should work.
Please Help, Android studio is not working and this error is comes.
I also reinstall the android studio but same error is comes.
I got the solution of the my problem.
Uninstall Android studio totally from the system.
Restart the system.
Go to C:\Users\
Delete .android, .AndroidStudio2.3, .gradle folders. If folder not deleted then change the name of this folder.
Now, Reinstall the android studio.
And then you problem will solved. This is work for me.
I got the solution there no need to Uninstall Android studio simply We need to do only one thing :
go to "file" and click on "Invalid caches\ Restart" option.
Don't uninstall your Android studio.
Rather try Like #Anjali has suggested.
go to "file" and click on "Invalid caches\ Restart" option.
If it doesn't work, close your Android studio and
Delete .android, .AndroidStudio2.3, .gradle folders. If any folder is not deleted then change the name of that folder.
And simply restart your Android studio. It has worked for me.
There is no need to uninstall Android Studio and maybe an issue occurs during the Gradle build time and Gradle cannot load data in the metadata folder or you have multiple data folder in the Gradle file.
Follow the below steps
Go to "C:\Users\PC\.gradle\caches\modules-2"
Close the Android Studio
Delete any metadata folder available from that listing or you can delete or rename the metadata folder as per your project given the error.
Start the android studio and ensuring that you have internet connections
Wait for Gradle to download some files and sync then
Everything should work well after doing that
I have followed the above steps and got success.
In my case this issue solved by just restarting my machine. My project was on 'D:' drive and this drive was getting corrupted and showing a message like 'unable to read files system'.
You can delete this file manually from Linux if you have it installed alongside windows
In my case this issue solved by just:
1- Open This PC, right-click the partition you want to scan, and choose Properties from the menu.
2- Navigate to Tools tab and click the Check button.
3- Check Automatically fix system errors and click Start.
After installing the Android studio and launching it I am getting this error.
I cannot specify the path to the SDK. I have tried giving the path as :C:\Development\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\" but the path is invalid
Try this:
close this box then
Tools -> Android -> SDK Manager
I encountered this problem when installing Android Studio 3.0.
There was in fact no folder named C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk after I installed Android Studio. I tried installing the Android command line tools at this location, but android studio did not accept this. (Turns out, the command line tools are not the SDK.)
Managed to fix it by doing a complete uninstall of Android Studio, deleting the C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Android folder, deleting any Android Studio settings folders (in my case C:\Users\Your Name\.AndroidStudio2.3 and C:\Users\Your Name\.AndroidStudio2.3). After reinstalling and opening Android Studio, it gave me a dialog to download the SDK.
I can think of 2 possible explanations why this worked for me:
Originally, Android Studio was opening a project straight away, which didn't trigger the "download your sdk" dialog. (This no longer occurred since I deleted my Android Studio settings.)
There was some kind of setting that made Android Studio think I already had the SDK downloaded.
Try this - C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk
Replace Your Name with the name of your PC.
This problem is usual after you update, or reinstall the Android Studio.. Follow these steps-
* Close all the opened project which is opened by default after you started the Android Studio.. and again open the Android Studio, it will direct you towards re-downloading of SDK components from the net (So be sure to have net connectivity at this point)..
* If above step doesn't work, then restart the PC and open Android Studio again..
Hope it will help..
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk
Hope this will work.
I was also stuck with this...i tried everything mentioned above, but could not get through.
Then I was about to uninstall and reinstall the IDE as mentioned above.
When I was about to uninstall, to my surprise, I found Android SDK Tools in control Panel -> Programs and Features, which was the thing I was looking for!
Android SDK Tools in Control Panel -> Programs and features
I didn't know how to find the path of that, because even after searching in my computer, I didn't get it. So, I went on further and clicked on uninstall.
There, I found the path of Android SDK Tools "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\". I did not uninstall anything.
I linked this path in the dialogue box, the error was gone!
Whoever encounters the same error, should look for the "Android SDK Tools" in the programs and features in control panel, and then go for uninstalling the same.
There you will find the path of the tools folder.
Copy and paste that path, and you shall get through.
When installing Android Studio on my Mac I accidentally cancelled the dialog box that would normally have installed the SDK. To fix this I deleted Android Studio from /Applications, and deleted the following folders:
% cd $HOME
% rm -rf Preferences/AndroidStudio3.4
% rm -rf Logs/AndroidStudio3.4
% rm -rf Caches/AndroidStudio3.4
% rm -rf Application\ Support/AndroidStudio3.4
(Adjust the version number for your version.) I then reinstalled Android Studio and let it guide me through the SDK installation process.
In case anyone get to experience the same weird situation as me:
I had installed Android Studio, had projects saved, but for some reason I had to do reinstall Windows (and during that I deleted my "Android-folder" in ".../local". When you do that, you will encounter the exact same pop up.
No worries, close it and even though it says that it is needed, it's not. You just don't have access to the prior projects. When saving the new one, then everything will be OK.
The problem was solved by downloading the SDK again, in my case I had deleted the SDK folder that was in C:\Users\george\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk, because I deleted it then I had to download the SDK
I just reinstalled Android Studio (everything) C:/user/yourName/.androidStudio.4 and C:/user/yourName/.androidStudio.4.
You dont have to delete your projects folder!
In my case, going to the Settings menu in Android Studio, there I could download the SDK (none were installed) through the "edit" button
I got this error when moving a project from one computer to antother, even though it wasn't an Android project and didn't need an Android SDK.
The solution for me was to open the file local.properties and remove the line that says sdk.dir. Hope this can help someone.
All you need to do is close the project opened in android studio. This error occurs when you reinstall Android Studio. The previous project that you have been working on will be opened by default. Select that folder from file explorer and move into different location and then again launch Android Studio. The SDK installation will begin thereafter.
The Reason that why Android Studio can't install/find SDK automatically:
As I tried many times for reinstalling Android Studio, but each time I faced with this SDK popup. I figured out that after installing, Android Studio seeks for project folder automatically (usually located in C:\Users\Username\AppData\AndroidStudioProject) to syn previous settings, gradle, SDK path, Android Studio Settings etc. When I deleted this folder (if you need your previous projects copy it somewhere for latter replacement) the usual installation has been started after clicking on install.
I just encountered this issue when updating my Android Studio after a couple of years of not using it, and the solution ended up very easy:
I exited the window with the SDK prompt and closed the old project it was trying to open. Once the project was closed, the IDE was able to prompt me with the download window, and there SDK download worked!
I'm completely new to android studio. Installed it plus all the skd packages the installation guide told me to. I've been trying a couple of things for the past two weeks now with no success. Can someone direct me to a solution or where more detailed error messages are found?
Im receiving this error message from the "Messages Gradle Sync" Panel:
"Error:(1, 0) Cause: com.google.common.collect.Sets"
edit : I have ubuntu installed on this computer aswell and I decided to install android studio on it. Its woking there so I guess I'll work from it until studio gets a fix or I find one.
Uncheck "Offline work" in File>Settings>Gradle>Global Gradle Settings
Resync the project, for example by restarting the Android Studio.
Once synced, you can check the option again to work offline
Update java if Android L SDK installed
-File -> Invalidate caches / Restart
-Shutdown Android Studio
-Rename/remove .gradle folder in the user home directory
-Restart Android Studio let it download all the Gradle stuff it needs
-Gradle build success !
Open your project where its located
For example:
MyApplication->gradle->wrapper->gradle-wrapper.properties
go into it and change this row:
distributionUrl=http\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-1.12-all.zip
with this:
distributionUrl=http\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-1.10-all.zip
and try to sync with this button in your IDE
At https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=71725 I found this answer by (#3 alinmit...#gmail.com) and it solved that problem for me.
In Android Studio go to File>Settings>Gradle>Global Gradle Settings and in Gradle VM options specify the proxy details:
-Dhttp.proxyHost=dummyHost -Dhttp.proxyPort=dummyPort -Dhttp.proxyUser=dummyUser -Dhttp.proxyPassword=dummyPassword
I have Avast antivirus, i closed it and then the problem disappeared! try to disable your firewall and let us know! :-)
