I have developed a php RestAPI and when i invoke them Postman, it is working fine. I am getting required responses:
http://192.168.23.33/wopo/v1/registerUser.php
When i am calling the above API call with volley, it is getting into "public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error)" where error is also null.
I have configure the above same URL while sending the StringRequest? Is that fine?
stringRequest=new StringRequest(
Request.Method.POST, Constants.URL_Register, new Response.Listener<String>()
{
#Override
public void onResponse(String response)
{
progressDialog.dismiss();
try {
JSONObject json = new JSONObject(response);
Log.d("mysuccess","I saw success");
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),json.getString("message"),Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
Intent intent=new Intent(SignupActivity.this,LandingScreenActivity.class);
startActivity(intent);
}catch (Exception e)
{
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener()
{
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error)
{
progressDialog.hide();
Log.d("myerror","I got some error");
NetworkResponse networkResponse = error.networkResponse;
Log.d("myerror1",error.getMessage());
// Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),error.getMessage().toString(),Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
})
{
#Override
protected Map<String, String> getParams() throws AuthFailureError
{
int userRole=0;
if(buyerCheckbox.isChecked()) {
if (selleCheckbox.isChecked())
userRole = 3;
else
userRole = 2;
}else
if(selleCheckbox.isChecked())
userRole=2;
Map<String,String> params=new HashMap<>();
params.put("userid","1");
params.put("username",strUsername);
params.put("emailaddress",strEmail);
params.put("housenumber",strFlatNumber);
params.put("apartmentname",apartname);
params.put("apartmentaddress",useraddress);
params.put("usertype",String.valueOf(userRole));
return params;
}
};
RequestHandler.getInstance(this).addToRequestQueue(stringRequest);

Code as below:
public void loginPost(String url, String emailAddress, String password){
Map<String, String> params = new HashMap();
params.put("email", emailAddress);
params.put("password", password);
JSONObject parameters = new JSONObject(params);
String LOGIN_REQUEST_TAG = "LOGIN_REQUEST_TAG";
JsonObjectRequest jsonObjectRequest = new JsonObjectRequest(Request.Method.POST, url, parameters, new Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONObject response) {
Log.d("Login Response:", response.toString());
JSONObject responseOject = response;
if(responseOject.has("data")){
try {
Log.d("Data Response", responseOject.getString("data"));
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}else if(responseOject.has("error")){
try {
errorMessage = responseOject.getString("error");
new AlertDialog.Builder(MainActivity.this)
.setTitle("Error")
.setMessage(errorMessage)
.setNegativeButton("OK", null)
.show();
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}else{
//Server error. Come back again later
Log.d("Server error", "Server Error");
}
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
VolleyLog.e("Error at login: ", error.getMessage());
}
});
AppSingleton.getInstance(getApplicationContext()).addToRequestQueue(jsonObjectRequest,LOGIN_REQUEST_TAG);
}
All the parameters and URL are correct as I have checked it during debug. And everything works fine in Postman as well. However, the code above just wont go into onResponse method and I am not receiving any error. But it is giving a warning that "responseOject" is redundant. Am I doing it wrongly? Quite new to Android development.
Error:
BasicNetwork.performRequest: Unexpected response code 401
It is a POST API and I am using Request.Method.Post, why am I receiving that error?
Before using the API test it in Postman. You will get a clear view of what is happening.
The error code 401 means you parameters are wrong. OR you are unauthorized to access that API.
Try this code for this type of call.
private void callNetwork(final String email, final String password) {
String json_object_request = "jsonObjectRequest";
//Creating a string request
StringRequest stringRequest = new StringRequest(Request.Method.POST, Config.URL_LOGIN,
new Response.Listener<String>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(String response) {
if (response != null) {
parseData(response);
}
}
},
new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
progressBar.setVisibility(View.GONE);
}
}) {
#Override
protected Map<String, String> getParams() {
Map<String, String> params = new HashMap<>();
//Adding parameters to request
params.put("email", email);
params.put("password", password);
//returning parameter
return params;
}
};
//Adding the string request to the queue
AppController.getInstance().addToRequestQueue(stringRequest, json_object_request);
}
I have to send a post with voley but when i try to send raw body as requested, instead of a response a get this error
******com.android.volley.ServerError******: {"message":"No user account data for registration received."}
i tried the same in postman and it works perfect, how can i fix it in my code?
raw body that works in postman ->
{
"camp1": {
"value": "value"
},
"camp2": {
"value": "value2"
}
}
this is what it is in my code ->
public void requestRegistrationInfo(#NonNull final String camp1, #NonNull final String camp2,final Listener listener) {
RequestQueue requestQueue = Volley.newRequestQueue(context);
requestQueue.add(new JsonObjectRequest(
Request.Method.POST, URL,
new Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONObject response) {
Log.v("IT WORK");
listener.onSuccess();
}
},
new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
Log.e("******" + error.toString() + "******", getErrorMessage(error));
listener.onFailure();
}
})
{
#Override
protected Map<String,String> getParams() {
Map<String, String> map = new HashMap<>();
map.put("{camp1", "value");
map.put("camp2", "value");
return map;
}
#Override
public Map<String, String> getHeaders() throws AuthFailureError {
Map<String, String> map = new HashMap<>();
map.put("header1", "header1");
map.put("header2", "header2");
return map;
}
});
}
what can i do to send raw json correctly and don't show the error?
In normal case JSONObject request didn't hit the getParams() method , this method only for String request and passing key value pair data payload. If you want to pass a raw body with JSON data , first you have to format your data as server accepted.
In your case this is your data
{
"camp1":{
"value":"value1"
},
"camp2":{
"value2":"value2"
}
}
You have to convert your data to Server accepted JSON format like this
JSONObject jsonObject = new JSONObject();
jsonObject.put("value", "value1");
JSONObject jsonObject1 = new JSONObject();
jsonObject1.put("value2", "value2");
JSONObject jsonObject2 = new JSONObject();
jsonObject2.put("camp1", jsonObject);
jsonObject2.put("camp2",jsonObject1);
//jsonObject2 is the payload to server here you can use JsonObjectRequest
String url="your custom url";
JsonObjectRequest jsonObjectRequest = new JsonObjectRequest
(Request.Method.POST,url, jsonObject2, new com.android.volley.Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONObject response) {
try {
//TODO: Handle your response here
}
catch (Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
}
System.out.print(response);
}
}, new com.android.volley.Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
// TODO: Handle error
error.printStackTrace();
}
});
JsonObjectRequest will accept the payload as json in its constructor after the url parameter we will pass the data
This is tested Code try this:
private void multipartRequestWithVolly() {
String urll = "your_url";
progressDialog.show();
StringRequest request = new StringRequest(Request.Method.POST, urll, new Response.Listener<String>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(String response) {
progressDialog.dismiss();
if (!TextUtils.isEmpty(response)) {
Log.e(TAG, "onResponse: " + response);
textView.setText(response);
} else {
Log.e(TAG, "Response is null");
}
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
progressDialog.dismiss();
Log.e(TAG, "onErrorResponse: " + error.toString());
}
}) {
#Override
protected Map<String, String> getParams() throws AuthFailureError {
hashMap = new HashMap<>();
hashMap.put("OPERATIONNAME", "bplan");
hashMap.put("mcode", "298225816992");
hashMap.put("deviceid", "dfb462ac78317846");
hashMap.put("loginip", "192.168.1.101");
hashMap.put("operatorid", "AT");
hashMap.put("circleid", "19");
return hashMap;
}
};
AppController.getInstance().addToRequestQueue(request);
}
try {
RequestQueue requestQueue = Volley.newRequestQueue(this);
String URL = "http://...";
JSONObject jsonBody = new JSONObject();
jsonBody.put("Title", "Android Volley Demo");
jsonBody.put("Author", "BNK");
final String requestBody = jsonBody.toString();
StringRequest stringRequest = new StringRequest(Request.Method.POST, URL, new Response.Listener<String>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(String response) {
Log.i("VOLLEY", response);
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
Log.e("VOLLEY", error.toString());
}
}) {
#Override
public String getBodyContentType() {
return "application/json; charset=utf-8";
}
#Override
public byte[] getBody() throws AuthFailureError {
try {
return requestBody == null ? null : encodeParameters(requestBody , getParamsEncoding());
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException uee) {
VolleyLog.wtf("Unsupported Encoding while trying to get the bytes of %s using %s", requestBody, "utf-8");
return null;
}
}
#Override
protected Response<String> parseNetworkResponse(NetworkResponse response) {
String responseString = "";
if (response != null) {
responseString = String.valueOf(response.statusCode);
// can get more details such as response.headers
}
return Response.success(responseString, HttpHeaderParser.parseCacheHeaders(response));
}
};
requestQueue.add(stringRequest);
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
Please check with the edited getBody()
#Override
public byte[] getBody() throws AuthFailureError {
try {
return requestBody == null ? null : encodeParameters(requestBody , getParamsEncoding());
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException uee) {
VolleyLog.wtf("Unsupported Encoding while trying to get the bytes of %s using %s", requestBody, "utf-8");
return null;
}
}
If you calling any REST-API then note that that's payload always be in JSON format. therefor you can use an object body for payload like this way.
HashMap<String, String> params = new HashMap<String, String>();
params.put("username", input_loginId.getText().toString());
params.put("password", input_password.getText().toString());
and you can pass this on method like this way
JsonObjectRequest logInAPIRequest = new JsonObjectRequest(Request.Method.POST, YOUR-URL,
new JSONObject(params), new Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONObject response) {
input_errorText.setText(response.toString());
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
input_errorText.setText("Error: " + error.getMessage());
}
});
I'm using Volley to send Post request.I'm trying to send jsonObject to server.This is my source
public void sendDicieIDToServer(JSONObject jsonObject)
{
JsonObjectRequest jsonObjectRequest = new JsonObjectRequest(Request.Method.POST, url, jsonObject, new Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONObject jsonObject) {
Log.e("response is", "Response " + jsonObject.toString());
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError volleyError) {
NetworkResponse errorRes = volleyError.networkResponse;
String stringData = "";
if(errorRes != null && errorRes.data != null){
try {
stringData = new String(errorRes.data,"UTF-8");
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
Log.e("Error",stringData);
}
}) {
#Override
public Map<String, String> getHeaders() throws AuthFailureError {
Map<String, String> params = new HashMap<>();
params.put("Authorization",uhfScannerModel.getToken());
params.put("Content-Type", "application/json");
return params;
}
};
HandsetApplication.getInstance().addToRequestQueue(jsonObjectRequest);
}
I successfully created JsonObject and when I run my app and try to debug it, onErrorResponse method has called and stringData String contains real json result. I don't know what is a wrong and why onErrorResponse method calling.
User this link for Volley
Here i made volley reusability where you can apiCall easy way..
https://github.com/sikander-kh/Volley-Reusability
I'm trying to send JSON parameter but server is receiving them as nulls values,
i tried to request it from Postman and it works perfect, i don't know what the problem is with volley i followed the instructions here but it didn't make sense
here is my code
String url = "http://10.10.10.166:8080/SystemManagement/api/Profile/Login";
JSONObject jsonObject=new JSONObject();
try {
jsonObject.put("user_id","Test user name");
jsonObject.put("user_password","test password");
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
System.out.println(jsonObject.toString());
JsonObjectRequest jsonObjectRequest = new JsonObjectRequest( Request.Method.POST, url, jsonObject,
new Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONObject response) {
Toast.makeText(Login.this, response.toString(),Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
},
new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
System.out.println(error.toString());
}
});
//add request to queue
queue.add(jsonObjectRequest);
I faced same problem, solved by overriding the getParams() method
Here is my login request using Volley.
private void loginRequeset() {
showpDialog();
StringRequest jsonObjReq = new StringRequest(Request.Method.POST, Constants.LOGIN_URL, new Response.Listener<String>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(String response) {
Toast.makeText(Login.this, response.toString(),Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
hidepDialog();
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),
error.getMessage(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
// hide the progress dialog
hidepDialog();
}
})
{
#Override
protected Map<String, String> getParams() {
Map<String, String> signup_param = new HashMap<String, String>();
signup_param.put(Constants.USERNAME, _emailText.getText().toString().trim());
signup_param.put(Constants.PASSWORD, _passwordText.getText().toString().trim());
return signup_param;
}
};
// Adding request to request queue
queue.getInstance().addToRequestQueue(jsonObjReq);
}
I work with KSOAP2 but i wish usign Volley and i can't connect a web service with Authentication.
I have tried overwriting the method getHeader but in the log shows the following.
E/Volley: [593] BasicNetwork.performRequest: Unexpected response code 500 for http://myservice/register.asmx
this is my code:
public void peticion() {
final RequestQueue queue = Volley.newRequestQueue(this);
StringRequest stringRequest = new StringRequest(Request.Method.POST, URL, new Response.Listener<String>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(String response) {
Log.e("response", response);
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
Log.e("VolleyError", error.getMessage());
}
}) {
#Override
public Map<String, String> getHeaders() throws AuthFailureError {
Map<String, String> headers = new HashMap<String, String>();
headers.put("UsuarioName", "user123");
headers.put("UsuarioPass", "123456789");
return headers;
}
};
queue.add(stringRequest);
}
EDIT
Fragment the my WebService
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap12:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/MLSchema" xmlns:soap12="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope"> <soap12:Header> <Autenticacion xmlns="http://tempuri.org/"> <suarioPass>string</UsuarioPass> <UsuarioName>string</UsuarioName> </Autenticacion> </soap12:Header>
with ksoap work but with volley no.
-The data are correct
-The service work
I dont understand why not work with volley
Thank you for your help
I think you can refer to the following code (I have tested with ASP.Net Web API), then use its logic for your app:
StringRequest stringRequest = new StringRequest(Request.Method.POST, url, new Response.Listener<String>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(String response) {
Log.i(LOG_TAG, response);
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
Log.e(LOG_TAG, error.toString());
}
}) {
#Override
public byte[] getBody() throws AuthFailureError {
String paramsEncoding = "UTF-8";
Map<String, String> params = new HashMap<>();
params.put("grant_type", "password");
params.put("username", "user");
params.put("password", "pass");
StringBuilder encodedParams = new StringBuilder();
try {
for (Map.Entry<String, String> entry : params.entrySet()) {
encodedParams.append(URLEncoder.encode(entry.getKey(), paramsEncoding));
encodedParams.append('=');
encodedParams.append(URLEncoder.encode(entry.getValue(), paramsEncoding));
encodedParams.append('&');
}
return encodedParams.toString().getBytes(paramsEncoding);
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException uee) {
throw new RuntimeException("Encoding not supported: " + paramsEncoding, uee);
}
}
#Override
protected VolleyError parseNetworkError(VolleyError volleyError) {
String json;
if (volleyError.networkResponse != null && volleyError.networkResponse.data != null) {
try {
json = new String(volleyError.networkResponse.data,
HttpHeaderParser.parseCharset(volleyError.networkResponse.headers));
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
return new VolleyError(e.getMessage());
}
return new VolleyError(json);
}
return volleyError;
}
};
queue.add(stringRequest);
Volley don't support Protocol SOAP
