VideoView seekTo 0 instead of specific position - android

I'm trying to start video from specific position but VideoView has strange behave. When I run code like that
videoView.seekTo(2000)
int current = videoView.getCurrentPosition()
Log.e("Current Time", String.valueOf(current))
Log gives me value 0. It should give 2000 because this is current position. Even If I implement onPreparedListener it doesn't worked (but in different way). It display proper value (2000) but video still is not seek.

Actually, the thing is,VideoView.seekTo() is a wrapper around MediaPlayer.seekTo(). This function returns almost immediately even though the actual seeking is still being performed. Therefore you want to wait for seeking to complete via MediaPlayer.OnSeekCompleteListener.
However, the standard VideoView does not support OnSeekCompleteListener.
But you can copy and locally customize the VideoView class to add this support yourself.
Or, You could try this
mVideoView.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer .OnPreparedListener() {

public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mp) {
mp.setOnSeekCompleteListener(new OnSeekCompleteListener() {

VideoView Looping displays black screen after the first loop

I'm using VideoView to loop a small video, all works fine on the emulators, but when I deploy that to TV, after the first loop video turns black, but sound keeps going. This is the code:

PS: There is a workaround that works - make OnCompletionListener and do videoview.start() there - this way it loops, but there's an ugly gap between the loops.
Just use this mVideoView.setZOrderOnTop(true); It will not show the black screen as the view appears.

I have looked into the source code of VideoView and the first thing that I would like to point out is that inside the setVideoURI() method the MediaPlayer object will be created, and the OnPreparedListener will be set.
Your mistake is that you set the OnPreparedListener after the MediaPlayer may already have prepared the video, thus never call the onPrepared in the listener you have set after that, which means the setLooping(true) was maybe never set on the MediaPlayer.
TL;DR:
Put videoview.setVideoURI(uri); after videoview.setOnPreparedListener().
videoview.start() should be after setVideoURI(). On finish it should start again without additional input because this time mp.setLooping(true); was correctly set and will be executed. No videoview.start() is necessary after the initial one.
I actually ended up using ExoPlayer instead of the default one.
It's a bit harder to set up, but this problem didn't show up there.

You're right, the events are never fired. This is a known HLS bug that I don't think Google will fix.

Not fully sure as to what the OP is asking, but here are some very untimely bits of information.
I wouldn't rely on onPrepared. I find it to be unreliable.
I have found the two most useful pieces of information for HLS streaming through the MediaPlayer are the duration of the video and the progress position of the video. You get both of these by listening to progress updates.
When the duration is greater than zero, you know the video is truly prepared and can be manipulate (scrub). When progress position changes, you know the video is done buffering and has commenced playback. This last item only works when the video is playing of course. The MediaPlayer tends to relay inaccurate information.
These pieces of information are mostly accurate and can usually be relied upon to be "fairly" timely. This timeliness varies from device to device.
onPrepared is called when the MediaPlayer is prepared to start buffering, not when the video is completely buffered. However, it is completely natural to dismiss the loading dialog from within the onPrepared method.
Also MEDIA_INFO_BUFFERING_END is used when MediaPlayer is resuming playback after filling buffers, so I do not think it should be something to use to dismiss the dialog. So this should work:

You can able to set OnPreparedListener on videoView because its your object but if you checkout source of VideoView you will find that mMediaPlayer is its private member so any change that you do from external will not be applied to it.
As per your requirement you need buffering status so you can have thread or handler or some thing so you can update your UI to get buffer status there is one method

by overriding setOnPreparedListener method is enough. as in the api show

Android VideoView repetition

I have an application with a VideoView, in order to make the video play on a loop I use an onCompletionListner to call setVideoPath() again, like this:

This setup works well on all devices I've come across so far, I never had any trouble with it not repeating.
However the Motorola Xoom that I am testing on was recently upgraded to ICS. Now that it is on ICS this will work for a while and loop the video. But eventually (I've added a counter and some Logs, there does not appear to be any pattern to how many times it successfully loops before stopping) it will quit looping and just sit on a freeze frame of the first frame in the movie.
Does anyone know what could cause this not to loop properly any more? OR does anyone know of another way to get a VideoView to loop properly that does work under ICS still?
If you have only one video to play you can setLooping(true) in your on prepared listener.

VideoView not playing Video from desired position

i am using VideoView and seek bar but when i seekTo(..) on desired position through seekBar it play video from starting.

VideoView does not have a OnSeekCompleteListener() but you can access the MediaPlayer from the onPrepared method of the VideoView and then set the OnSeekCompleteListener, like this :

First, start with a copy of VideoView.java. Or you can clone the entire frameworks/base repo but warning it is over 1 gig of data to download.
Copy VideoView.java into your Eclipse Android project and it will start building but fail. Here's what I did to get it to compile:
Update the package statement to match your project.
Comment out the references to MetaData. The fix for this is on my todo list. These need to be replaced with calls to MediaMetadataRetriever.
Replace mContext with calls to getBaseContext()
Now you are ready to add the code for OnSeekCompleteListener. The implementation is similar to the other listeners, i.e OnCompletionListener.

You have to wait for the seeking to complete, unfortunately VideoView does not have a OnSeekCompleteListener() (why Google? -_-)

Seamless video Loop with VideoView

I have the following code to take a video as a raw resource, start the video and loop it but I need the video to loop seamlessly as of now when it comes to an end of the clip and starts the clip again the transition between causes a flicker for a split second, which I really can't have for my app.

The pause is for the underlying MediaPlayer to refresh its buffers. How long that will take will depend on a number of factors, many of which are outside your control (e.g., speed of CPU, speed of on-board flash storage).
One you can control is to get your video out of the resource and into the filesystem. Resources are stored in the APK, which is a ZIP file, so extracting the video this way probably takes extra time.
You may need to switch away from VideoView and use a SurfaceView with two MediaPlayers, alternating between them -- one is playing while the next is preparing, so when the playing one ends you can switch to the new player. I have not tried this, and so I do not know what the ramifications might be. However, I know that this technique is frequently used for audio playback to transition from one clip to another.

Answer to this is to remove the audio from the video and convert that to a .ogg file which can be looped seamlessly and then use the video without audio to loop round and this works.
